very descriptive s*x scene in the beginning which were pointless. i couldn’t really care about the characters. i couldn’t tell what genre this was supposed to be. i won’t be getting the next book from this author or any other book. at least paying for them.
I found the story to push the reader a long in wanting to see what happens next. I love supernatural characters. It was well grounded in details. Look forward to reading more by this author.
The story was unique and interesting to read. It is about Minerva, a woman who can not remember her past and wins a scholarship to a prestigious university. There was a lot of mystery surrounding Minerva. I didn’t expect the ending to be what it was. I felt that the characters are thoroughly developed, yet I found myself confused surrounding the city itself on specific points. I finally figured it out by the end of the book.
Even though I enjoyed the story, I feel that it jumped thoughts of characters too much. In that regard, I think it could use a re-edit to allow the book to flow more smoothly, especially when changing points of view. There were a few other mistakes regarding misplaced words. Even if I had to re-read certain parts, I still look forward to reading the next installment.
Title: The Pacemaker

As a first time reader of this author I enjoyed this unique story set in a college atmosphere and a society of hierarchy. Minerva seeks to unlock the mysteries of her past – she does not have any memory of anything that happened before she was eighteen.
One particular thing that frustrated me was when the points of view would change from Minerva to someone else – paragraph to paragraph. I had to re-read paragraphs at times because of this. I would have simply started a new chapter to differentiate the change of view. I would also suggest the author re-edit and finish thoughts as there were sentences that missed a word or two in more than just a few places. I would have given a five star if it weren’t for these minor things. Don’t let these things deter you from reading this story. I will be waiting for the next installment to this interesting series.
Infectious story. Interesting characters. The Pacemaker keeps you guessing from start to finish. As a fantasy lover myself, it grows tiring reading the same or very similar stories currently found on the market. That’s why Minerva’s unique journey is refreshing. This is definitely a millennial read. Readers in their late teens to early twenties can relate to her struggle figuring out her place in her world. We’ve all been through a similar journey of self-discovery. I know I’m currently going through that now as a college student. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I would definitely recommend this book to people with an open mind, not afraid of a little gore or explicit sex scenes, and manga/Japanese light novel readers (because Margria’s storytelling is similar to those types).

I liked the story and I wish I could give it a higher rating. The problem is the editing, mostly punctuation errors. It took me out of the story.
