Near Mulholland Drive, Dr. Stanley Kent is found shot twice in the back of the head. It’s the case LAPD detective Harry Bosch has been waiting for, his first since being recruited to the Homicide Special Squad. When he discovers that Kent had access to dangerous radioactive substances, what begins as a routine investigation becomes something darker, more deadly, and frighteningly urgent. Bosch is … urgent. Bosch is soon in conflict with not only his superiors but the FBI, which thinks the case is too important for just a cop. Complicating his job even more is the presence of Agent Rachel Walling, his onetime lover. Now guarding one slim advantage, Bosch relentlessly follows his own instincts, hoping they are still sharp enough to find the truth–and a killer who can annihilate an entire city.

Having enjoyed a more recent Bosch book I thought I would step back and read an earlier one in the series to start again.
I didn’t enjoy it as much and the character Bosch started to grate. However, it was an interesting and original story. Connelly is able to create a complex plot which is easy to follow without slowing the pace.
Enjoyed.
Typical Michael Connelly novel — Great story telling, dialog +Bosch!
One of Connelly’s best books..Bosch thriller that entertains until the end.
LAPD Detective Harry Bosch has recently transferred to the Los Angeles Homicide Special department, and his first case finds him at an overlook on Mulholland Drive where a doctor was shot in the back of the head. Bosch has hardly gotten the basics of the case when the FBI shows up. As jurisdictional wars break out, Bosch tries to keep his focus …
All Harry Nosh books are very good. Finished in 2011.
I’m a fan of this series. Love each and every one of them.
I love Connelly’s books in general . This one is
great because you learn a few more about Harry’s private life. Usually, so much time is spent on the case, you tend to forget Harry has a life off the job and it makes him more human rather than just a character in a book.
Love Harry Bosch!!
Micheal Connelly! Is there a better mystery writer?
A must read book by M. Connally
Michael Connelly is the best detective mystery/thriller writer today … and Harry Bosch is his best character. Bosch is complex enough to allow Connelly to create some interesting plot lines and story development. Any MC book that features Harry Bosch is worth a read! (Actually, any MC book is worth a read)
Harry Bosch delivers every time
Don’t miss any Bosch before 2016 or so. Too good, too real, too much fun.
Connelly is the absolute best.
Another one of my favorite authors.
I really liked this Bosch book.
Anything written by Michael Connelly is a good book. Have read or listened to all his books.
