50 years of an iconic classic! This international bestseller and inspiration for a beloved movie is a heroic story of friendship and belonging.Cover may vary. No one ever said life was easy. But Ponyboy is pretty sure that he’s got things figured out. He knows that he can count on his brothers, Darry and Sodapop. And he knows that he can count on his friends—true friends who would do anything for … friends who would do anything for him, like Johnny and Two-Bit. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up on “greasers” like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect—until the night someone takes things too far.
The Outsiders is a dramatic and enduring work of fiction that laid the groundwork for the YA genre. S. E. Hinton’s classic story of a boy who finds himself on the outskirts of regular society remains as powerful today as it was the day it was first published.

This book I read in one sitting. I remember spending most of a Saturday doing nothing but reading this book. I just felt so in tune with it like it could have been happening to me. The classic boy on the wrong side of the tracks and what life is like between the classes. I could relate on so many levels. The clincher is the end, it still …
This is one of my all time favorites that I go back to again and again, for decades. I love the relationships between the characters in this book. I like that all are expected to do the best they can do, at whatever they can do, they hold each other accountable, they try to look out for each other, and most of all, they love each other. It’s …
An incredibly intimate portrayal into the lives of teenagers from ‘both sides of the track.’
I was hooked from the opening line:
WHEN I STEPPED out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.
THE OUTSIDERS- S.E. HINTON
Ponyboy Curtis and his brothers, Darry and …
Published fifty years ago, The Outsiders still resonates with teenagers today. I use this book in my 7th grade reading classes, and the kids always connect with the characters. Outdated language and references aside, they devour this book for its theme of teenage struggle. The book is still entertaining after all these years.
This is a book that I can read over and over. The book inspired a movie which was easily very entertaining. The battle over the “good kids” vs the “bad kids” and how the tables were turned by one boys act of heroism. This could easily be a true story. It was at times, funny and sad and could really make you think about how unfair it is sometimes …
this book was a read-a-like to the movie grease, it was a sad book, and i loved it. there is a movie but i would read the book first.
This is one of my favorite books in the entire world! If you ever get a chance I would definitely read this book!! Everything about is wonderful and it has honestly changed my life!!! The Outsiders
You know a book is good when children write so many letters to a film-director begging for it to be turned into a movie that they actually convince said director to create a movie. This book spoke to every class of eighth graders that I ever shared it with.
I think that out of all of the books that I have read I think that this is definitely the best book that I have read because it shows that family really cares for you even when you think that they don’t and it also shows how far people will go for you.
Loved this book as a teen and still just as amazing now.
This is the book that made me want to be a writer.

This book is amazing. I’m reading at home which I usually don’t do with other books. I found out about this book at school.
I read this book in 8th grade language arts and I loved it
This, as well, is one of my favorite books. I’m not really into gangs or their fights or any of that stuff, but I have to tell you, I loved this book. I judged a book by its cover, which you should never do, and found this to be a heartwarming story.
Stay Golden Ponyboy! The 50th anniversary addition of this book was just released and the extras are wonderful! This is such an amazing story about growing up, changing, friendship, and strength. Everyone should read this again as an adult!
This book was recommended to me by my friend in 6th grade. I loved this book so much. It made me look at people & families in a whole different light. To this day, I still have my old, dog-eared copy of it on my shelf!
“The Outsiders” is still a favorite of mine that I read in high school. Love the book, love the movie. It’s a timeless classic.
I have read this book repeatedly and will still read it again and again
Amazing story that should be read by everyone.
