Now an HBO limited series starring Ben Mendelsohn! Evil has many faces…maybe even yours in this #1 New York Times bestseller from master storyteller Stephen King. An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is discovered in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens–Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, … League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon have DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.
As the investigation expands and horrifying details begin to emerge, King’s story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face? When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

Absolutely terrific! Kept me on the edge of my seat. Unusual story premise with a wonderful cast of characters, including one very special lady…Holly!!! Loved the book from start to finish. Thumbs up, Mr. King!!!
I’ve always liked Stephen King and he certainly didn’t disappoint me in this book. I always look under the bed at night after reading one of his books.
Stephen King never disappoints! Another one of his books that is impossible to put down!
Great read!!
I thought it was fast paced and really kept your interest.
Not King’s best….
This Stephen King book does not disappoint! GreT characters, twisted story and will grab you
Very good all the way until the end, Build you up page turner, but the end was a lacking. But still a very good Stephen King as usual.
As usual King astounds us with another wonderful mystery. I am currently reading it and love it.
I truly enjoyed this book.
Classic Stephen King. Although he writes “genre” novels, his style is extremely literary, and he can take the most factually impossible things and make you believe that they could and did happen. I read the 500+ pages in 2 sittings
Always good to read book by Uncle Stevie.
Awesome book I couldn’t put it down
Took awhile to get into it, was strange, but good.
Another smart, creepy thriller horror novel by the master
Stephen King at his best.
I was so disappointed with this book. I used to love Stephen King’s books because he made the everyday frightening. This book was too long. King’s characters experienced the action and then talked about it two or three times to other characters, making for dull reading. The plot was predictable from about Chapter 3 on. I will not be buying any more titles from this once-excellent author.
I loved this book. Steven King writes every book with a different twist. Every book of his is different and I have read them all. This one caught my attention in the very beginning and I read the entire book right away
Stephen King is an amazing writer and this book will not disappoint. Great character build up and story moves along at the right pace. Couldn’t put it down. Do you believe in things that go bump in the night??
Great hear from Holy again. Completly unexpected
