Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn’t expect to fall for his big heart.Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the … Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.
Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.

“A woman could tell a lot by the way a man holds her. She could tell if he had the strength to endure the rougher moments. If he had a mighty yet kind heart. If he could make her feel safe and cherished. Beau’s embrace said all that and more.”
Beau
That’s really all I have to say about this story. He is one of the most swoon-worthy men I’ve ever read about. He’s devoted to his job & community, devoted to his family, and really one of the best guys … ever.
Sabrina finds herself in a mess of trouble at the end of The Lucky Heart. She now finds herself headed into hiding with a near stranger, Beau, and facing too much time in the country. Sabrina is NOT a country girl — she’s from the city and loves all that it has to offer. Being stuck away from everything she knows really lets what happened sink in. She is faced with the consequences of her choices, and ultimately decide what her next steps in life will be. This isn’t an easy place to be.
Beau finds himself stuck with Sabrina. Not that it hurts that she’s beautiful, but the fact that she is 100% not what he’s looking for. Because he is dedicated to his friends, he wants to make sure she is safe and gets the hang of life away from civilization. While he is out there with her, he finds that there is much more to Sabrina than meets the eye — or than she even likes to show.
Unfortunately, for the both of them, being in such close proximity means they become … familiar with each other. During this time, they both know that each of their priorities for life are different, so they are resigned to finding happiness in the small time they have. Sabrina, during this time, shares some of her feelings that I can totally relate to–
“He’d gone to high school with Felicity; I wished I could ask her.
But since I couldn’t, I resigned myself to putting some distance between us.
Somehow, I had to kill these silly feelings. These silly dreams.
I was done dreaming.”
I can’t even tell you all the feelings I had while reading this. There was so much going on in the story, even beyond the growing tension between Beau and Sabrina, that at every turn it seemed like I was surprised. I love how with every book in this series, the characters grow and we get to learn even more about the town and all of them. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of visiting this world, and honestly, I’d hop right in if I could!
I have been looking forward to reading The Outpost by Devney Perry since I finished The Lucky Heart. This series is fantastic!! I love every character in each and every book, and The Outpost did not disappoint! It was amazing and I loved every single word. I try to read slower than normal when it comes to this series because I never want it to end, but I can’t stop myself from reading it. Devney Perry did a wonderful job with Beau and Sabrina’s story. She is an amazing author and I can’t wait for more!
Sabrina is definitely a handful. Working as an investigate reporter, she lands herself into some trouble when she goes undercover to expose a crime family. Needing safety, she runs to her best friend for help. With the help of others, Sabrina lands herself in a secluded spot to wait out the mess that is her life, protected by the gorgeous male specimen named Beau.
“Beau’s features reminded me of a Spartan warrior. Long, long legs with beefy thighs. Broad shoulders and bulging arms made of muscles layered upon muscles. I’d bet my life’s savings that underneath his faded jeans and simple black thermal he resembled King Leonidas himself. Scowl and all, Beau Holt was gorgeous.”
Even with Sabrina being extremely attracted to Beau, she knew nothing could happen between them. They’re from two different worlds and would never work.
“Beau was the type of man who needed someone with much less baggage than I was carting around. Nothing could happen between us. A fling would certainly lead to disaster.”
Beau is a very simple guy. He enjoys his time in the woods with his dog, staying out of the craziness of the town and their drama. That is, until Sabrina barrels into town with her own brand of crazy. Beau, being the guy you can depend on to help out, makes it his mission to keep her safe.
“Even beaten to a pulp, she was stunning. Her blond hair, brilliant green eyes and supple lips were going to get me in trouble. But this was the right thing to do. I had the skills to keep her safe, and the place. And if that meant making a mess of my own life, then I’d do it without hesitation.”
As time passes on, Beau and Sabrina grow close. The problem is, Beau is extremely attracted to Sabrina, even knowing that she doesn’t belong in his town.
“Sabrina MacKenzie was completely under my skin. Every time I drove away from her at the outpost, I fought the urge to turn back. I wanted her. Every place.”
I would one hundred percent recommend this book to everyone. I love this series and it’s definitely my favorite of 2017! Devney has such amazing talent.
