Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn’t expect to fall for his big heart.Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the … Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.
Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.

Awesome continuation of a great series
I loved Beau!! Loved him. This book was perfect and told a story that needed to be told. Sabrina’s secrets and Beau’s determination made this a great read. This book is a must read
I did enjoy this book, a good summer read, the setting was interesting.
A slow, steady, sexy, torturous burn – and I’m not referring to forest fires. City girl Sabrina and country boy Beau, can they be any more different but yet so perfect together? It’s about two characters who start to want more for themselves and who have found in each other someone who will stick by their side through anything. 5 stars if the ending hadn’t been rushed.
Getting the scoop on one of the biggest stories in the crime world consumed Sabrina. While dating a guy that had ties to the Russian Mafia, Sabrina found herself in over her head. The story that Sabrina was writing for the Seattle Times was the focus that kept driving Sabrina. Now her identity was exposed, and Sabrina found her life in danger. Now – Sabrina must find a way to stay out of the sights of the mafia until the reality of her article led to the takedown of this smuggling ring.
With her places to hide in limited supply, Sabrina heads to Jamison Valley to seek out her friend Felicity. What she never expected was a plan that would entail hiding out in the rugged terrain of the Montana mountains. Without any experience ‘roughing it’, Sabrina was clearly in over her head. That is where Beau comes into the picture. As the head of the local search and rescue team and an employee of the US Forest Service, there was no one more qualified to help Sabrina stay hidden from prying eyes.
Two completely individuals now embark upon a task to keep Sabrina safe. One that results in close quarters for Sabrina and Beau. As the two enjoy their time in the mountains, Beau and Sabrina find it harder and harder to fight the attraction that they both feel. With life in the city calling Sabrina’s name, is it wise to get involved with a man whose life revolves around the mountains in Montana? With an expiration date on their time together, Beau and Sabrina try to enjoy every moment that they have in that little cabin in the woods. What will become of their ‘relationship’ once their time on the mountain comes to an end?
The Outpost is by far my favorite book in the Jamison Valley series to date. Sabrina is a force to be reckoned with, and she clearly doesn’t shun anything while in search for the next great story. Beau….well….what won’t you love about Beau?? This rugged and sexy man is grounded in his life in Montana. He appreciates the beauty of his hometown and the ties of family. When Beau and Sabrina finally decide to act on their feelings…..all I can say is can I trade places with Sabrina?? Beau is seriously my favorite character in the series!!
Make sure you read the Epilogue!! Devney Perry gives her readers a glimpse into life that Sabrina and Beau experience in the future. It’s a treat you don’t want to miss!! Grab your copy of The Outpost….you will not be disappointed!!
Didn’t care for this book. Not enough substance. Didn’t finish it.
I’ve read this twice. It’s like a real live story. Great. Highly addictive.
Great
Great book. So much more than just another love story.
Easy to get lost in.
great writing, editing
I enjoyed the frank humor, and light- hearted ending.
The Outpost is book 4 in the Jamison Valley Series, but can definitely be read as a standalone. The Outpost is a sweet, emotional romance but with enough danger to get a heart racing .
“No man would ever hold me this well. I was made to be wrapped in these arms.”
I love this book and this series. Each one just gets better and better. I’ve been waiting to read each as it is released on audiobook and I’ve not been disappointed with the wait. Great narration! But I’m not sure if I can wait before starting The Bitterroot Inn, I really, really want to see Maisey get her story!!
My favorite from this series! Sabrina, so strong especially when life throws you a curve ball. Beau….. he is my absolute favorite. He’s sexy, swoon worthy, so sweet and alpha protective. When isolated from the world helps you realize what matters, letting your guard down and allowing someone in, leads to a forever kind of love. A must read! I highly recommend this book and this series. Best if read in order.
This is my first read by this author and I’m a forever fan!!
The writing was fantastic!
The story was a heartfelt emotional story of love self discovery an redemption.
Fresh, smart and thought provoking story of a successful investigative reporter named Sabrina who went into hiding when she became one of her stories! A revelation in one of her stories, puts her life in danger, so she finds refuge in an outpost in the mountains of a small town in Montana.
Yet, this is no ordinary small town. The characters were relatable, likable and totally extraordinary. It was refreshing to read a story where the main characters are complicated and complex, but also good decent people.
Sabrina and Beau were beautifully developed. Both are smart, headstrong, independent, people who loyal and tied to their individual towns. Their banter was funny and their sexual chemistry could be cut with a knife. She’s a city girl he’s a country boy, and that’s that.
Or is it?
Hiding out in Montana is meant to be temporary but when she circumstances in her case change, it changes the dynamic between Beau and Sabrina
Beau was dreamy! All alpha all the time with a heart of gold and a soul to match. The choices he made sometimes frustrated me but I respected his ability to stand in his own.
What happens between them is more just romance!
As always I am loving this book, Devney is by far one of my most favorite authors, she never fails to deliver awesomeness
When Sabrina was mentioned in The Lucky Heart I was hoping we would hear more about her and let’s face it Beau needed his happily ever after as well. The Outpost is filled with suspense, twists and turns that results in an amazing story and leaves you happy and antsy to find out what’s going to happen next in the series.
Devney Perry has become my newest go to author! The Outpost in the series of interaction characters but still a stand-alone.
Sabrina is forced into hiding out after exposing a family with Russian mafia ties. A city girl at heart being stranded in an Outpost deep in th mountains is her worse nightmare. Beau a forest fire fighter lives for his family and the outdoors. Though their chemistry is smoldering neither can see pass their lifestyles to take a chance on tomorrow until they give into today.
This is a great story on growth, seeing past what you know, chances and some suspense that’ll have you turning the pages as fast as you can!
Sooo, Beau and Sabrina are by far my favorite couple in this series. I remember when I read The Lucky Heart, we get the glimpse of whose story would be next. And to be honest, I wasn’t completely intrigued by it. But as soon as I dove in, I was hooked on every word and finished it in just a matter of hours. This is a series that just keeps getting better and better with each new book, which makes me eager for the next one.
Sabrina, for one, I can’t believe she did what she did. Beyond bat-sh*t crazy. Even though she had her reasons for doing what she did, she went undercover for an article to hopefully take down a mafia family. But things went a little awry when she showed up on her best friend’s doorstep battered and bruised. Hoping to seek safety and refuge in the wilderness of Montana.
And that’s where Beau comes in, you will all love him from the very beginning. The absolute perfect book boyfriend, swooping in and rescuing the damsel in distress. The ultimate family man, protector, he’d be my definition of a gentle giant. He’s always there to take care people, to look after them. So it was no surprise when he offers to help out Sabrina. Makes you wonder if there were ulterior motives from the beginning *wink wink*
The attraction between these two is instant, but it takes some time before they actually act upon it. They both live two different lives and there’s no telling what is to come of all of it the end. It could be temporary and they’re not sure if they would give up their ambitions to live near each other.
I loved seeing them come together and watching their story unfold. You can’t help but swoon over Beau and just how much he genuinely cares about Sabrina. He’s one of those guys that will always be there for her whenever she needed him. As a couple I loved them, I (obviously) love Beau, but Sabrina took some time for me to get around. She has a lot of selfish moments and not really thinking much of anyone else. And it’ll make you want to shake her cause she just can’t see the bigger picture.
Overall, this one was easily added to my #RSFave for the year. I love this series so much and I know you will too!
And again Devney Perry has drawn me into the mountains of Montana and I have another Mountain Man book boyfriend to add to my ever growing list. Everytime I read one of her books I think “This is the best one yet” and still she writes another one that blows me away.
I have fallen in love with all these characters, the town, the mountains of Montana and the overall feel of this book! I’m 99% sure this book has given me a huge book hangover and I am so emotionally invested in these books that as I am looking forward to The Bitter Root Inn, I’m not looking forward to the end of this series
The Outpost is Book 4 in the Jamison Valley Book. I feel this could easily be a stand alone but highly recommend you read the books in order as I feel as a reader you’ll connect more with the characters.
I feel that Sabrina comes across as little self centered. She’s running for her life and ends up in Jamison Valley at with her best friend, Felicity. When a person is scared they don’t think rationally or look at the big picture of the danger they could bring to others. You just go to the person you love and feel safe with. Silas knows what type of danger could follow Sabrina and wants his lady Felicity as far away from it as possible. He gets his friends involved to protect and take care of Sabrina. Beau volunteers to take Sabrina to his secluded mountain cabin to hide her away to keep her safe. Beau is one in a million. He’s basically putting his life on the line for a stranger who’s life is in danger due to a situation she put herself in her investigative reporting.
As we read along we, as well as Sabrina, discover she has more depth and how strong she is. Not many people can stay by themselves cut off from civilization and not go crazy. I think her time alone gave her time to gain perspective of her life.
Even though Beau and Sabrina are from two different world’s they seem to gel. Their attraction slowly builds to sizzle, which when they act on it practically burns the pages up.
What I really liked about this book is the intrigue and suspense. There are a few moments that has you holding your breath as you read along to see what the outcome is.
I was super proud of Sabrina when she held her own when faced with pure evil.
I absolutely loved the end when both Sabrina and Beau are willing to leave their current lives behind for the other.
I loved this book. Beau and Sabrina’s were perfect together. I could not put it down and tell in love with it. Amazing book!
