Trapped in his tiny mountain cabin, she didn’t expect to fall for his big heart.Exposing a prominent criminal family with an investigative news report didn’t exactly work out the way Sabrina had hoped. Instead of basking in the glory of her article’s success, she’s on the run from a powerful man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced to trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the … Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he isn’t the slightest bit interested in a city girl like her.
Beau likes his life quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, they might just be the perfect match.

I love romantic suspense and this was good. The only problem I had is that it seemed to drag on a little long at parts. Characters great and can’t wait to read next story in series
Amazing story-line in the continuing series in Jamison Valley, Montana! The book has everything: excitement, adventure, tears, fears, and hunkie men who make their women happy. Sabrina was running for her life and Beau was waiting there to catch her. Everything is happening in Montana with fires, gun-running mob felons, Search and Rescue teams and a great dog named Boone. Hugs to all the characters and treats for Boone. Thanks for a great read!
3,5 stars
When first reading the blurb I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book. We first got introduced to Sabrina and her story in “The Lucky Heart”. Her story differs a lot from what I’m used to reading. That can either be a positive or negative experience. Luckily this time around it turned out to be positive.
At first I didn’t like Sabrina much, but by going through such a life changing experience she started to change more to my liking. I can’t imagine how much impact it would have to drastically change your whole life, but Devney Perry does a great job describing Sabrina’s emotions. What seemed like a nightmare at the beginning turned out to be the start of a wonderful love story.
The setting of this book is amazing. Like I said I haven’t read anything like it before. That’s why it has more of an impact on me. I definitely recommend reading this book.
Now I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I’ve been waiting for Maisie’s story since book one.
Another book from this series, that is a must read. Loved it.
I really enjoyed this delicious, slow burn romance. It was a perfect city girl meets mountain man love story. Sparks were flying between these opposites and it was fun to watch them fall for each other. Beau was so sweet and sexy and quite the protector. Perfect BBF material.
A great addition to the series!
Overall this was a nice read that totally makes me want to escape to the mountains of Montana — especially if there is a hunk of a mountain man like Beau waiting for me in a secluded cabin. The arc of the story was pretty predictable but I am a sucker for the opposites attract trope.
Sabrina MacKenzie is an investigative reporter from Seattle who finds herself in some very hot water after her story goes to print exposing a wealthy family who was smuggling illegal weapons into the country for the Russian mafia. Needing to make herself scarce fast, she runs to her best friend in Montana. Enter Beau Holt, overall badass wilderness man, who is tasked with stashing her in a secluded cabin in the mountains and periodically checking up on her. Despite the danger of the situation these two opposites try their hardest to deny their attraction but as we all know, that never lasts long!
It was hard for me to really love the story because I didn’t find Sabrina as a believable investigative reporter. She just seemed a bit too immature. It would’ve been easier for me to believe that she was the unsuspecting girlfriend of a wealthy man turned bad as opposed to a woman who took down a major crime family. It just didn’t fit with how she was portrayed later in the book in my mind but that’s probably just me.
Beau Holt however was Mr. Perfect. He’s caring, thoughtful, patient and selfless but when it came to actually sharing his feelings with Sabrina, he didn’t (or couldn’t) which seemed so uncharacteristic of this smart guy. (But then again where would the story go if it was that easy )
It also seemed a little too instant attraction in my mind when they hardly knew each other. We were just told about the attraction in the beginning but there wasn’t enough interaction between the two yet to sell it. Instead, given the nature of how they came into each other’s lives, this could have been the setting of an AWESOME slow burn romance. Two people, stuck in a small cabin in the beautiful wild getting to know each other while tip toeing around an initial attraction – love it!
Despite these hesitations it was a fun read. I liked the underlying opposites attract, “how can this work when we come from different worlds” tension so if you’re a fan of this trope, you’ll want to check this out.
Oh my goodness the feels of this book. So far this book is the only one so far in the series to make me shed a little tear. Beau is the perfect balance of mountain man and sweetness and Sabrina is the perfect balance of strong and sweet. Absolutely adored this book!
I cannot convey how much I loved this book. I read about 2 to 3 books per week and this is towards the top of my list for favorite reads this year. There is a lot of story and even better, characters that you can get really emotionally invested in.
I’m so glad that I found Devney Perry and her JAMISON VALLEY series. Her characters are so relateable and down to earth. Sabrina is Felicity’s BFF and finds herself hiding out at the Outpost after she writes an article about the wrong people. There’s instant chemistry between her and Beau and had me on the edge of my seat waiting for them to get together. I’m a sucker for a great epilogue and the OUTPOST has one of the sweetest ones I’ve ever read. I’m sad to this series coming to an end but was so happy to hear that Ms. Perry missed the valley crew as much as her readers and has announced the series will be getting a book six.
My favorite in this series so far, and Beau is definitely my favorite hero. A little bit of slow burn, but not too much; some drama, but no big conflict due to a stupid misunderstanding. Difficult decisions were made for logical reasons. Well-written, with plenty of sexy times, and the other Prescott characters we’ve come to know pop up now and again. Excellent book, very satisfying.
I think this one is my favorite yet. Beau, is just…. Beau. I have no words. The inner emotions shown in this was just something else. So many struggles with feelings. AAAH. Just read it.
Sabrina and Beau have a very different storyline than the others in the series. The writing is so descriptive in these books I feel like I can picture Jamison Valley and want to visit Montana.
Can’t wait for the next book.
Once again, this 4th story in the series doesn’t disappoint! Beau is now a definite contender for top book boyfriend from Jamison Valley I just love him! Looking forward to the last book in the series even though I’m sad to see the end come.
At first I was concerned that Sabrina and Beau would be one of those couples that hated each other on sight and later discovered their spark, I was also concerned that Sabrina would be a high maintenance brat for lack of a better word. I could not have been more wrong or happy that I was wrong. I loved everything about this book and I highly recommend it.
I cannot even begin to describe how beautiful this story was. The storyline was intense, obviously, but the healing and love that was found in a simple life lived in the very heart of nature’s finest literally took my breath away. The characters a d the comfort and joy they found in each other, if only for a moment was amazing. Even when the unthinkable happened, the characters were strong and resilient, and did what they had to do. Though being honest about their feelings and being more open would have saved them a lot of time and heartbreak, they did grow in their times spent apart and learn that home is not always a place, it can also be a person. The Outpost has quickly become my favorite in the series, but I will cherish and love them all. Such a wonderful town filled with amazing and selfless characters. Well done Devney Perry! Another five star read!
I’ve been having a difficult time getting into this book. It was hard for me to connect to the characters, but after I reached the 50% mark, I flew through the pages. Now, I need the last book like I need air!
PERFECT!
The slow burn, the fact that Beau is a huge guy with a peaceful personality… PERFECT!!!!! I’m adding an extra star because of Boone! I love stories with pets and he was not neglected. He was an important character!
Beau is now my favorite Devney Perry character and I doubt any other hero by her can dethrone him! He was so amazing! So alpha!
I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK! Gah!
