There’s never been a better time to discover the novels behind the blockbuster Starz original series Outlander. Blending rich historical fiction with riveting adventure and a truly epic love story, here are the first four books of Diana Gabaldon’s New York Times bestselling saga that introduced the world to the brilliant Claire Randall and valiant Highlander Jamie Fraser: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN …
OUTLANDER
DRAGONFLY IN AMBER
VOYAGER
DRUMS OF AUTUMN
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.

Love all of her books!!
Really love this series, and hoping for a new one in the series soon.
Love love love this series
Read all of this author’s books. You will not be sorry!
I’ve read all 8 of them! The first four are what each season of Outlander is based on. They tell the story of Claire Randall, a WWII British combat nurse who goes on a second honeymoon to Scotland and puts her hands on some standing stones. She falls back through time from 1945 to 1743 where she tends to a wounded Scot and marries him. It’s their story; the love story of Jamie Fraser and Claire Randall/Fraser and is based on actual events in Scottish history with the British. There are some people who lived in that time present too. Fully researched by the author and historically accurate, this series will have you hooked for life!
Outlander series is an amazing tale of a woman who’s world is torn in two. She accidentally falls back in time while on her honeymoon with her husband. To save her hide she must marry a Scottish highlander (it is to save his hide as well). She never knows if she is going home or if she wants to. It is romantic yet not done cheaply. It is like historical fiction with touches of nateuropathy and a touch of magic. I can’t give this book justice without giving too much away. I have read all the books that have come out to date and can’t wait for the next installment to drop very soon. The third book is the slowest of the series in my opinion. It has a lot of back story to fill in so it is necessary. In hind sight, while it was the slowest, it wasn’t. Jamie and Clair are made for each other.
Great reads. Have read them twice
These books are a lot of fun to read. Can really get hooked on them.
Well written fantasy that weaves a story so well that you believe every word and always want to read more.
All of these books are amazing and I recommend them to everyone!
Love the characters.
I can’t say enough good things about Diana G’s books. I love them all. I’ve been a big fan since the early 1990s. She is a great inspiration to all aspiring writers like me.
Best books ever!
This is the absolute best series of books I’ve ever read. Diana Gabaldon makes me yearn for more. I love her style and will read anything she writes.
Wonderful
The writer in me stands in awe of the meticulous research, seamless plotting, intricate world-building, and down-to-the-bone character development. The romantic in me just wants more Jamie and Claire. And Scotch.
They are wonderful books with a story that draws you on and on. You don’t want to put it down.
This series is great. Really enjoyed it. I miss the characters! Read long before the TV series. 😉
I picked these books up over 20 years ago and just loved getting lost in the suspense and drama that unfolded before me. I highly recommend this series and the Starz version as well. It all comes alive for the ready. Loved, loved, loved it!
Love, love, love this series! There’s a reason why so many people love these books- the characters are wonderful!
