There’s never been a better time to discover the novels behind the blockbuster Starz original series Outlander. Blending rich historical fiction with riveting adventure and a truly epic love story, here are the first four books of Diana Gabaldon’s New York Times bestselling saga that introduced the world to the brilliant Claire Randall and valiant Highlander Jamie Fraser: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN …
OUTLANDER
DRAGONFLY IN AMBER
VOYAGER
DRUMS OF AUTUMN
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.

I never get tired of re-reading these books!
These books are the most interesting, historical, romantic books I’ve ever read! I’ve read them several times and am considering reading them again. I truly love the characters and have grown to feel totally comfortable with them. Like that comfy old sweater that fits just right and is the perfect thickness to meet a lot of different weathers. If you’ve read any other “Scottish time-travel romances” there’s really no comparison, unless you’re comparing pearls and acorns!
Her books are amazingly researched. Detailed to an extreme, they are realistic portrayals of the time and locations they represent. The characters and their relationships are genuine to a fault. Her books are genius, and I have read them all. I know these take years to write but I always hope for an early release of the next one.
An amazing set of books. Have recommended to many people and no one has disliked them yet.
This is one of the best series I have ever read. Nothing is expected and she guides you through the scenes and characters with attention to detail so you can envision it all taking place. This series is a work of art not a formula read. If you haven’t read it you are missing out on the best series and the characters that bloom during the story.
The Outlander series is addictive. The characters are multi-layered, yet so relatable. You start to believe you’re in the story. You WANT to be in the story. Jamie Fraser is every woman’s fantasy. And, Claire is the type of female that every woman wants to be. These books are deep and thought provoking.
ALL THE OUTLANDER BOOK ARE WONDERFUL
What an amazing series! History, romance, adventure… it’s all here. The TV series is excellent, but the books are so much better — whether you’ve watched or not.
Excellent!
Have read and reread these books. Enjoying them over and over again
SOOOOOO AMAZING!!!!
Gabaldon is an amazing story teller. I can never get enough of her writing.
Great series. Want more!
One of my favorite all time reads!
I have been reading Diana Gabaldon’s series from when the first book, Outlander, was published. If you have not read them you are missing out on possibly the greatest series of books written in the last 75 years.
Excitement, romance, history, adventure, culture, an incredible love story, great sex, & everything to keep you glued to these books until the last page and then you want to read them again.
When you finish this group, take a breath and then go on to the last 4 in the series until the 9th book which I hope will be published in 2019.
Totally fabulous
I enjoyed reading these books. I devoured them. Diana Gabaldon knows to retain your attention. I was parted in feeling anxious to read forward and feeling sad at the end of a book because I finished it. Congratulations Diana Gabaldon!
Loved it! If you liked it, you might like A Natural History of Dragons, Clan of the Cave Bear.
One of my favorite book series.
Great series and hard to put down. Large, heavy books but so worth the time to plough through. Having the visuals of the TV series helps but there are more twists and turns in the books.
Once I find out the release date of each of Ms. Gabaldon’s new books, I reread the entire series in time to start the new book as soon as it’s ready. A bit like catching up with beloved friends and fondly sharing memories before hearing all about their new adventures.
