There’s never been a better time to discover the novels behind the blockbuster Starz original series Outlander. Blending rich historical fiction with riveting adventure and a truly epic love story, here are the first four books of Diana Gabaldon’s New York Times bestselling saga that introduced the world to the brilliant Claire Randall and valiant Highlander Jamie Fraser: OUTLANDER DRAGONFLY IN …
OUTLANDER
DRAGONFLY IN AMBER
VOYAGER
DRUMS OF AUTUMN
Scottish Highlands, 1945. Claire Randall, a former British combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743. Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of a world that threatens her life, and may shatter her heart. Marooned amid danger, passion, and violence, her only chance of safety lies in Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior. What begins in compulsion becomes urgent need, and Claire finds herself torn between two very different men, in two irreconcilable lives.

These books are sooo well done!!! The story seems to go one way and then surprises you! I have loved each book in this series and “patiently” wait for the next one. Fantastic series!
Love the characters, the history, the story. I have read all 4 books 4 times now. I savor the witty dialogue and bantering. Love, love, love!!
Once I read Outlander I was hooked and have read all of the novels in the series not to mention watching the series on Starz!!. Diana Galbadon researches the era carefully and keeps it as true to the period as the story allows. The main characters are well developed and the story moves along nicely.
I’ve now read each one of them twice, reading them before each season of Outlander. They are just as good the second time as they were the first. Easy to get lost in, hard to put down.
I can still remember the first time that I read Outlander in 1991, and the absolute delightfulness of the story. I have followed this series for years and I adore the relationship between Claire and Jamie particularly because it is rich, and honest and raw. I really admire Diana Gabaldon’s craft.
The entire Out landed series is fabulous and so worth the time it will take to read tgem
I love all the Outlander books! In addition to the wonderful characters and their compelling stories, Diana’s books subtly give us all a great history lesson, whether in the Scottish highlands, France, or 18th century America.
One of the best series I’ve ever read. If you liked the TV show, you’ll love the books.
Don’t stop at three. The whole series is worth reading.
This series is LONG, but incredible. The world-building is extraordinary; the characters are so well-written and complex that even when you absolutely “hate” a character, you are still able to have compassion and understanding. The adventures are simply astounding, and the love story at the heart of it all is one for the ages. It’s the kind of love that endures; the kind of love that you really do only seem to find in pages. I am a Diana Gabladon fan for life!
Favorite author! Life changing!
Everything youd want in a story!
Absolutely the BEST book series I have ever read! And keep reading, over and over! waiting very impatiently for Book 9!!!!
Love them. Read 1 or 2 times a year
This series misses nothing. The characters are wonderful and well developed. The books cover every possible scenario from romance to history to war, violence, and humor. Diana Gabaldon weaves humor in the way that the time travelers talk in the past about things like baseball that no one knew about in the 18 century.
The story line is clever in how Claire, a modern doctor has to learn how to either make modern medicine or learn how to treat people with the things she has available where she is now.
I tore through each book as soon as it came out, and although the writers of the TV series changed a few things for TV it is still a wonderful series and my all time favorite book series
Best books ever, I have read them twice before. Now I am going to read them a third time
I read the first book many years ago, long before anyone else was going back in time and it was so good I read it again. The characters were so well developed and the action was fantastic. Enjoy the TV series, but the books are even better.
Best series I have ever read!
I read these man years ago when they first came out. They are just classic. One of the best things was they were unpredictable.
Sometimes these can be a little long but still love them!
This wonderful series becomes a part of you! The characters are your family ! The adventures are beyond your wildest dreams.
