The year is 1946. Claire Randall is a British ex-combat nurse on a postwar second honeymoon with her husband in the Scottish Highlands. Walking alone one afternoon, she passes through a circle of standing stones and is hurled back in time to a Scotland simmering with war in the year of our Lord 1743. Catapulted into an intrigue of rival clans and rising armies that threatens her life, she’s obliged to wed Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, as the only way to survive. Thus begins a series of unrivaled storytelling that has become a modern classic.

Loved every one of them!!!!!!
I have read this complete series and now enjoy watching the Showtime series. They are huge books but once you begin it is impossible to put them down. Wonderful writing and great characters.
Outlander is a MUST Read!
Best 6 books I ever read,,,right up there with Gone With the Wind
Love this whole series!
Absolutely fabulous
The books are a great read; many a late night because I didn’t want to stop reading. Some differences with the story line of the Starz TV series which adds beautiful scenery abd images. Can’t wait for season five even though I’ve read all of the novels.

The best book series, bar none. You can get lost in the Outlander books, and never want to be found. Her characters remain consistent thru time, thru episodes, thru continents. Best book for sheer enjoyment EVER!
I have read all of the books in her series and reread each in the series before beginning her next book. That means that I have read “Outlander” 7 times, “Dragonfly in Amber” 6 times, “Voyager” 5 times–you get my gist. She is an excellent writer; the details and information on the life, times, history, medicine etc. of the times is accurate. And to think Diana wrote the first book just as a challenge to see if she could write a book. I have recommended this series to many friends and students and they have all sung her praises to their friends. This is probably the finest series of books I have ever read. All my copies are falling apart but I plan on being buried with them!
THE ONLY SERIES OF BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ TWICE.
I have been reading since I was 6 years old, I am now 74. I must tell you I rarely read a book twice. I have read the Outlander series, and all the spin-off books, that Diana Gabaldon has written more than 14 times. I re-read them EVERY YEAR and LOVE THEM. Best Author I have ever read. I ALWAYS find something in the books that I missed before. Get the 1st book, OTLANDER, and read the 1st 100 pages, I’ll bet you’ll be hooked.
Awesome, well written, witty & imaginative
These books are some of my all time favorites
Listened to them all. Sorry Jamie and Clare had to get older. Brianna and Roger not nearly as interesting
Loved this series. Character development was extensive and they came to life. I found myself very involved and could not wait to start the next volume.
A genre bending mix of time travel, saga, adventure, life-long love story. Gabaldon builds a world I get lost in every time I read it as I am compelled to do every few years, especially before publication of each book in the series.
I have read every one of Diana Gabaldon’s books, as they were printed. The 2-3 year wait between books while she write and publishes them is a killer. Can’t recommend them enough, in fact all the stories she has written are wonderful.
These books are addictive! Usually I never read a book twice, but I have read the entire set five times in three years.
If you like time travel, action, romance, and history, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series are the best books ever to read or to listen to. As the narrator on the audible books, Davina Porter brings the Outlander books to life.
Loved the character development, the varied story lines and historical content. Can’t wait for book nine!
