WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART’S BLOOD
The year is 1946. Claire Randall is a British ex-combat nurse on a postwar second honeymoon with her husband in the Scottish Highlands. Walking alone one afternoon, she passes through a circle of standing stones and is hurled back in time to a Scotland simmering with war in the year of our Lord 1743. Catapulted into an intrigue of rival clans and rising armies that threatens her life, she’s obliged to wed Jamie Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, as the only way to survive. Thus begins a series of unrivaled storytelling that has become a modern classic.

Not something I would recommend, exactly. It feels very realistic, but it leaves out the important puzzle pieces of true Scottish Highlanders, so you are left thinking they’re crazy and have no reasons for the things they do.
The whole series is great.
Fantastic, a real love story that gets deeper through each book.
Read the series and sometimes had to wait for the next book. So good I still remember the characters and stories.
I love the Outlander series, however, the books are slow and difficult to read. They get bogged down in minute details that are unnecessary for the book. I prefer a quicker read.
I couldn’t put this book down after the first hundred pages. I became addicted to the series!
I love everything about this series!
What can I say but one of the best series I ever read. Historical romance taken to another level entirely. If you have watched the made for TV series and not read the books yet, you are really missing out!!
The Outlander series rates at the top of my list for must reads. I think I have read the first three parts of the series several times in my life because I have enjoyed the series so much. Highly recommend to anyone who likes historical reads with drama and romance.
I’ve read all the books in the series and anxiously await the next book. Diana Gabaldon’s writing pulls you in and takes you on a journey. The words are like a warm blanket that wrap you up and envelope you. Wish I could find my Jamie!
One of my favorite literature series! Engaging characters continue their development in plot lines that are intriguing and exciting through all eight books. The history is detailed, accurate, and made an integral part of the plots. I can’t wait for the next book in the series,
I anxiously await every new installment of the Outlander series, including the novellas! Each book is a stand-alone story, but I love knowing the history of the characters. Gabaldon has created a world that is harsh, yet makes you want to go through the stones just to find your own Jamie Fraser and find the happiness she found. You’ll enjoy each page of this historical romance that spans three generations (so far!).
Loved this series and author
My all time favorite series!!!
Amazing story, Great Drama,…Books are Better than the TV Series, but find the Series doing well too! I have all the books and while very long and sometimes hard to stay with because they are so deep and long I have read them twice…! Love her writing and imagination!
I’ve read this series twice now! Probably my favorite author ever!
One of the best series of books I’ve ever read. I was sad when it ended
I fell in love with all the characters and the historical references. It has sparked an appetite for historical fiction and non-fiction
Love any of Diana Galbaldon books!
I love this series but too sexually graphic.
