“Great fun… marvelous and fantastic adventures, romance, sex . … romance, sex . . . perfect escape reading.” — San Francisco Chronicle, on Outlander
The year is 1946. Claire Randall is a British ex-combat nurse on a postwar second honeymoon with her husband in the Scottish Highlands. Walking alone one afternoon, she passes through a circle of standing stones and is hurled back in time to a Scotland simmering with war in the year of our Lord 1743. Catapulted into an intrigue of rival clans and rising armies that threatens her life, she’s obliged to wed James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, as the only way to survive. Thus begins a series of unrivaled storytelling that has become a modern classic. This bundle includes:
OUTLANDER
DRAGONFLY IN AMBER
VOYAGER
DRUMS OF AUTUMN
THE FIERY CROSS
A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES
AN ECHO IN THE BONE
more
You come to love the characters.
You hate to see each book end.
Excellent! Great storytelling. Never dull! Love the series anxiously awaiting the the next one!
I started this book series on a day with nothing to do. Absolutely fell in love with them. Had to remind self to do the laundry and cook dinner. LOL. Now the series has been made into a tv series on Stars and I’m hooked again. Action, love, history…it’s all there.
Next to Harry Potter, the best series I have ever read. The characters, not just Jamie and Claire, but Fergus and Briana and Roger, and so many more come to life on Gabaldon’s pages. And the history of Scotland and later colonial America is so well told. I loved them all, but Drums of Autumn and Voyager were my favorites, followed by Outlander and Written in Your Own Heart’s Blood we’re next.
Best books ever.
I own and have read ALL of the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. The first novel, Outlander, grabs your imagination and from there the books are impossible to put down! I have read them all multiple times, each time finding something new and exciting about the world of Claire Beecham Randall Frazer and her Highlander, Jamie Frazer. Follow Claire as the impossible happens and she is transported back in time. This is a smart, sensible, and very modern woman who is suddenly dropped into the mid 1700’s and has to find a way to cope, survive, and yet be true to herself. Gabaldon does an Amazing job of writing fiction, fantasy, romance, adventure and history!
Diana Gabaldon is a wonderful author who approaches each scene from multiple perspectives to blend the characters into very believable and entrancing people who I want to know all the details about! She has an army of dedicated fans, and if you haven’t read these books you have a great treat in store!!
Great series!
Absolutely the best series……love love love the books
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!
Loved these books…my favorites. Jam packed with full fleshed characters and villains. Very long and involved. Great for anyone stuck in a holding pattern with time on your hands. Can’t wait for the next installment. Historically accurate for the times. You can almost smell and taste the atmosphere. There is fantasy involved if that bothers you, but it adds to the poignancy of the story.
Love all her books in this series. Combines Time travel with historical events (historical fiction). Can’t wait for her book #9 coming in 2019 sometime (GO TELL THE BEES THAT I AM GONE).
Best series ever for me. Have read over several years as they came out and never lost the anticipation of and enjoyment for each one. Great character development and interesting perspective on history.
Love her Style of writing! Kept me on the edge in every book!!
Best series. Read them all. Technically science fiction, but mostly historical fiction.
These are the books that started my love of time travel romances. I hope there will be another one. There is something about a man in a kilt that is irrestible.
The series is well-written and developed. However, the later volumes trudge along somewhat more than I would like.
What new thing could I say about this wonderful series. Except I can’t wait for the next and last one
I love this series but too sexually graphic.
An absolute classic for a reason. For lovers of romance AND lovers of historical fiction.
