This book had an unbelievable ending. Overall, it was really stupid.
I totally enjoyed this suspense/thriller by Sandie Jones, excited to learn it’s going to be a movie too! Thank you St. Martins Press for the advance reader’s edition, what a fun read this is to bring on vacation! If you like psychological thrillers, put this one on your list, it comes out August 21st. If you liked ‘the wife between us’ and ‘the woman in the window’, you’ll also enjoy this one, it’s even better!
A page-turner that will have you hoping the other woman will not be in your life. Emily meets Adam in a bar. Emily does not think Adam will call her when she relates her story of meeting Adam to her friends Seb and Pippa. Then to Emily’s surprise the handsome Adam telephones and asks her out on a date. This is when you will soon meet the other woman and begin an over the top psychological thriller that will keep you going “oh no” through the very end.
If you think you’re in a perfect relationship with nothing to worry about then don’t read this book as it could make you wonder if it’s real. From the get go this book had me hooked as I tried to understand how the other woman “the mother-in-law” could be so evil. I wondered exactly what kind of hold she had over her son to inflict so much heartache for her daughter-in-law. This was one I did not see the truth to until the very end. Loved it and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good dramatic mystery.
Such a great book! I couldn’t put it down. Shocking ending!!!
What an exciting ride!!!! Sandie Jones has taught me a lesson or two. In the beginning, I was pushing the story, wanting to get on with it. But, silly me, as a writer, you have to build the drama.
Emily meets Adam while at a bar with her work comrades. The two begin to flirt and a relationship builds. At times, I felt the timeline moved too fast and the back stories lagged the present story. But eventually, I was so hooked and drawn in.
My heart began to hurt so much for Emily when her every special occasion was ruined by Pammie. By this time, I was crying for Emily, literally crying. By this point, I was putting together my own scenarios, fathoming Pammie’s harsh and cruel exterior to Emily. It drove me crazy how no one else could see what Pammie was doing.
Adam’s brother, James has a softness for Emily. But this too, had me baffled whether it was genuine. The plot was excellent and well executed. Just the evil things Pammie would do could easily be seen as sweet–it was that clever.
Great read! Great Suspense! Loved the ending
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Um, what did I just read? I’m not sure this book knows the definition of thriller because this sure isn’t it. There was nothing thrilling about it. It was actually rather boring. Maybe it had been too hyped, what with all the publicity saying there’s a ‘twist you will not see coming’ but I thought it was fairly straightforward. There were so many turns it could’ve taken way before the “twist” that would’ve been much more effective.
Also, I hated Emily. She started off pretty cool but by the end, I wondered what had happened to her. She became so unbelievable that I had trouble finishing it.
There are SO MANY other books I would recommend before this one. Save yourself the time and skip it.
What a good read!! I was mad so many different times but I had to keep reading to find out what happens. Did not expect that ending. Must read!!
A very enjoyable book. You don’t really know someone until you marry them and even the you don’t know them. Twists and turns you won’t believe. Some of the story seemed far fetched but in this day and age anything is possible!
I liked this book not loved. Kept me interested but not to the point I couldn’t leave it. Frustrated with how weak the main character was. Started to lose my sympathy for her. I hung in there and the ending was satisfying.
This book is absolutely a twisted psychotic suspense read. It is best read without making any perceived judgement of what will happen or should happen but to just enjoy the ride. Just go in full force and know that twists will happen and The Other Woman is more than meets the eye.
The Other Woman is Sandie Jones’s debut novel and boy is it a good one! This story hooked me right from the beginning. The book is told from first person point of view of Emily. Emily and Adam meet and soon fall in love. Emily thinks all is perfect in the relationship until she meets what may be her future mother-in-law Pammie. Emily soon finds out how far Pammie is willing to go to get rid of her.
I loved the book but I had a hard time feeling sorry for Emily. If I were in her position I would have been gone from this relationship as soon as the weirdness started. Emily said she was in love but that early on I would think you would run away…but that’s me…maybe others would have stuck it out??
The Other Woman is a very impressive debut novel. The writing style was great. The pacing of the story was spot-on. The author did a wonderful job holding my interest throughout the book. This was well worth reading and I would highly recommend this book to everyone who likes a good page-turning suspenseful thriller and just wait for the ending! WOW!! I am now a Sandie Jones fan!!
I honestly did not think I was going to like this book. The thought of abuse hits home with me. Not now but back when I was very young, like 16. It was my first time to ever date and he was very mean. Hit then rape. I was alone and had no one. This book was not about rape but it was about abuse. Mental and physical. I’ve read a review that says, why didn’t her friends tell her to leave and how stupid the book was because of his abuse and her stupid for taking it. Things like that are life. Not all life, but some. It happens and it’s good that it was written about. Adam didn’t just start right out being an abuser. Like others he did it slowly. Broke her down and made her fall deeply for him. Then he took advantage of her love and how much she cared about him. He was a very cruel man. She was human. Abuse happens and the abused have a hard time getting away. Sometimes because they have no one and sometimes out of fear. Also from both fear and having no one. Never judge someone who is being abused. It’s an awful thing to go through.
You will love some of these characters and truly hate some. You might even come to care for some that you don’t think you will. Things are not always as they seem. This book is one that after I truly got into it was written very well. Great characters, well some. Great storyline. I think Sandie Jones did a good job with this story and I’m glad I read it even though the end sure made me cry.
I gave this book 5 stars because I think it deserved it. It’s a story that you won’t be forgetting very quickly for sure. Great job!!
Thank you to NetGally and St Martin’s Press for this copy. My review is mine and not because I received this from them. I honestly liked this book. *****
Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for allowing me to read this ARC, The Other Woman by Sandie Jones. This book started out a little slow for me and I thought I had it all figured out but was wrong. The author does a good job of bringing the characters to life, I alternated between wanting to will some backbone into Emily for what she let slide, to wanting to shake Pammie for what she was doing to Emily and then there is Adam……don’t get me started on him…..
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This thrilling and suspenseful book deserves more than 5 stars! Emily and Adam appear to be the perfect couple, but are they really??? Add a future mother-in-law from hell and Adam’s handsome brother as well as some other interesting characters and you are in for quite a ride. This book is going to be one of the top read for this year I predict. If you love a hard-to-put-down thriller, I highly recommend this fantastic book.
This really was an enjoyable read and for a debut novel ever so impressive indeed.
I did originally um and ah a bit over whether this was for me a 4 or 5-star rating but decided to go with my gut as I enjoyed this so much.
The main reason for this tug of war was I sometimes had a hard time liking the main character Emily.
Some of her decisions and actions did border on the self-absorbed and this made it at times a teeny bit difficult for me to feel sympathetic towards her.
Yeh, her future mother In Law was a heinous nightmare that I wouldnt wish on my worst enemy but Emily wasn’t a complete bed of roses herself either.
So “The Other Woman” tells the story of Emily and Adam and the power struggle between mother Pammy and future wife Emily and boy this is one squirmish that get bloody messy at times.
This was such an addictive read that easily kept my attention, its narrated from Emily’s POV but also comes equipped with a fantastic cast of supporting characters that each brought something personal to the table.
I read this one super fast and just when I thought I knew where I was going it changed directions on me sending me into a tailspin of you what!
Brilliantly done; I was getting suspicious anyway so this was really just the icing on the cake for me.
A fantastic conclusion to what was an enthralling captivating experience.
Can’t recommend this one enough.
Thank you to the Publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of “The Other Woman” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Psychological thriller is exactly what this book is. I was stuck to the edge of my seat while reading word after word, page after page, and chapter after chapter. I could stop reading. I won’t give it away but it seems no one is at he/she seems. Everyone has a secret and until the end of the book, you won’t know who is telling the truth.
This is a tough review to write only because I want to tell you all about it but The Other Woman needs to be read without knowing the spoilers. I knew how it would end, I knew that Emily and Adam would figure out how to get past his crazy mother, Pammie would figure out how to accept Emily…everything I knew was not quite what happens. I have to say that I wasn’t totally wrong but I wasn’t totally right either.
The Other Woman in one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read and definitely one of the best in 2018. As a debut author, Sandie Jones is now one of my must-read authors.
Wow! I didn’t see the ending coming, not by a long shot! The story was well-written and kept me guessing at every turn. I enjoyed the twisting plot, the characters evoked emotion at every turn; and both aspects kept me turning pages. I can honestly say that no matter how much I thought I loved someone, there were too many things that would have made me walk away.
This was definitely a ride and a fun way to escape for the time it took me to fly through it.

The Other Woman by Sandie Jones is completely unbelievable. It is a psychological thriller. These characters that you will love to hate. Itvis fast paced and twisty turny. Emily believes she has found the perfect man in Adam. Pammie is his mother. They are so close that it is creepy. She is down right devious and manipulative. Pammie will stop at nothing to end Adam and Emily’s relationship. And Adam is blinded by the love he has for his mother. This is a must read! It is fast paced, twisty and has an ending you won’t see coming!
This was a thrilling roller coaster ride, with an exciting twist! Just when I thought my ex-MIL was crazy, this book made me second guess myself, lol.
