First let me say, I was hooked from the synopsis – a son’s girlfriend and a mother battling. This didn’t end with what I was envisioning, but I am glad that it wasn’t, as it would have been too cliché. I would like to say, that I really didn’t like Adam. From the beginning. It wasn’t just that he seemed too much of a mommy’s boy, but that, at nearly 30 years old, he was way too immature. Pammie, although she was the villain, she was the character that you love to hate. So many underhanded remarks by Pammie to Emily, that no one what Emily could see through. Emily started to believe that it was her and not Pammie. I would definitely recommend this book, and I look forward to the author’s next novel.
The Other Woman is a book that I have been highly anticipating after reading its blurb and seeing it posted around the book world. This story and the characters immediately engrossed me. I flew through the pages, needing to know what would happen next and ended up finishing this book in less than twenty-four hours. As with every mystery and thriller I read, I had a few theories as to what was really going on or what the twist would be. By the halfway mark I really only had two theories, but the best part of this book was that BOTH my theories were wrong, which rarely happens and made me enjoy The Other Woman even more.
I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Other Woman is an absorbing thriller with a great twist. A perfect beach read.
The Other Woman is fun and fiendishly clever with a twist you will not see coming. Make room in your beach bag for this one!
One of the most twisted and entertaining plots.
Emily chose Adam, but she didn’t choose his mother, Pammie. There’s nothing a mother wouldn’t do for her son, and now Emily is about to find out just how far Pammie will go to get what she wants: Emily gone forever.”
Sounds positively captivating doesn’t it? This was one of those books I picked up when I got it just to read the prologue and, to the neglect of other books I was reading, I couldn’t put back down. I was surprised to see was the author’s debut novel, it was a really solid psychological read for me. The story of Emily who meets and falls in love with Adam and Adam’s mother Pammie, who it seems, will go to any lengths to keep Adam to herself. Early on there were red flags for me in this relationship almost to the point where I wanted to scream at Emily, wondering why didn’t she just hightail it out of there. But the heart wants what the heart wants and we all have learned the hard way right?!
The story does move quickly with a well rounded cast of characters, which I thoroughly appreciate in a story. Games are being played left and right with several WOW, just WOW twists and an ending I never, ever saw coming! I was very impressed with Sandie Jones and will most assuredly be eager to read her next offering.
Anyone who likes a good psychological thrill or a twisted read would enjoy this I believe.

If you love books with a twist, this one is for you!
The Other Woman hooked me from the very first page. I had such strong feelings about each and every character. I was totally emotionally involved. The only issue, I thought the book was very predictable. But man! Was I wrong!!
This book was a who dunit all the way through, it keeps you guessing from the beginning to the very end. I highly recommend this book!
The Other Woman by Sandie Jones also features an evil mother-in-law character. When Emily meets Adam, she is sure she has met the man of her dreams, that the search is finally over—until she meets his mother. Pammie is dedicated to her son, her love for him bordering on obsession at times. The relationship between Emily and Pammie is strained at best and Emily begins to question whether Adam is worth it. This one also takes a satisfying U turn that left me impressed with the author’s skill and I turned the last page feeling satisfied with the conclusion.
Emily Havistock was content with her small world that included her roommate and friend, Pippa, and Seb, her best friend. After a breakup with the man, who she hoped to marry, which also ruined a long friendship, after finding the two in a compromising position, she was not looking for a relationship, While on a business meeting, Emily met Adam Banks. They began to spend a lot of time together, and begin planning a future.
Adam took Emily to meet his mom, Pammie. The first time, Pammie left an album open to a particular photo knowing Emily would see it. Emily wasn’t quite sure if it was accidental or on purpose. A photo that was haunting in more ways than one. Over time, there would be other hurtful actions by Pammie, but it was done in a covert manner that flew under everyone else’s radar. A discovery by Emily, makes her wonder the lengths Pammie will go to with her. While Pammie plotted, Emily started to plot how to show Pammie’s true colors, which starts a battle of wills.
I thought this was a unique story, that had an unexpected twist in the end. A great story, that I highly recommend. I received an ARC from NetGalley via St. Martin’s Press in exchange for an honest review.
Thoroughly entertaining. Pammie is the mother-in-law from hell!
A twisty, deliciously fun read.
The Other Woman knocked my socks off! Psychological suspense at its most addictive, with a shocker of an ending. I couldn’t put it down!
The Other Woman is an absolute corker—wickedly relatable story, wonderful characters and a great twist. Should definitely be on your reading list for this summer.
I read The Other Woman with my heart in my mouth. Compulsive, claustrophobic, it spoke to my deepest fears as a wife and mother, grabbing hold of me and not letting go. Definitely a must read!
Compulsive, superbly plotted and all too believable! Earmark it now for your TBR pile.
What an incredible read. Pammie was such a compelling and unique villain, someone I hated more and more with each turn of the page. The slow build of who she was and what she was doing was so well crafted. And of course I love a book with an ending I didn’t see coming. It’s a definite must-read this summer!
It was a very eye opening book. It kept you on edge.
This was a train wreck I could not turn away from. It was one of those books I couldn’t stop reading. I felt the need to know how it would all end yet I wasn’t quite sure why because I didn’t care for the characters.
The heroine was weak and stupid.
The hero was an asshole.
The villain was ugly and mean but not to the point that I hated her. And that’s disappointing cause I should hate the villain.
Why did I keep reading? Great question.
The writing style isn’t the best and transitions from past to present are non existing. It wasn’t horrible as I was able to keep reading without getting lost.
The ending. The way things were wrapped up… Had me shaking my head. The reason for all the drama was lame. Stupid.
Ending is creepy, but had trouble accepting it happened as it did.
