She was his best-kept secret …
In an isolated village in the mountains of Andalusia, a mysterious Frenchwoman begins work on a dangerous memoir. It is the story of a man she once loved in the Beirut of old, and a child taken from her in treason’s name. The woman is the keeper of the Kremlin’s most closely guarded secret. Long ago, the KGB inserted a mole into the heart of the West—a mole who stands on the doorstep of ultimate power.
Only one man can unravel the conspiracy: Gabriel Allon, the legendary art restorer and assassin who serves as the chief of Israel’s vaunted secret intelligence service. Gabriel has battled the dark forces of the new Russia before, at great personal cost. Now he and the Russians will engage in a final epic showdown, with the fate of the postwar global order hanging in the balance.
Gabriel is lured into the hunt for the traitor after his most important asset inside Russian intelligence is brutally assassinated while trying to defect in Vienna. His quest for the truth will lead him backward in time, to the twentieth century’s greatest act of treason, and, finally, to a spellbinding climax along the banks of the Potomac River outside Washington that will leave readers breathless.
Fast as a bullet, hauntingly beautiful, and filled with stunning double-crosses and twists of plot, The Other Woman is a tour de force that proves once again that “of all those writing spy novels today, Daniel Silva is quite simply the best” (Kansas City Star).

Gabriel Allon, one of my favorite series
A good read.
Daniel Silva never disappoints me.
Series never misses and stays current.
First rate
I recommend any story written by Daniel Silva. Not only he writes very well, he also makes his characters people you love to follow and no matter their personality the reader sticks with them and hate to see the end of the story.
Very highly recommended, and also recommend to read all of his titles.
Daniel Silva’s hooks are always a pleasure and never ever dull. All are top notch. One can never go wrong.
Always a story that captures you.
One of his very best books.
Daniel Silva’s series based on an Israeli shadow group conbines current events with international intrigue. Whether it’s Russia or another country trying to cause international incidents, Gabriel Allon and his band of experts try to disrupt the plans. Grabs your attention in the first pages and just keeps you engaged.
No amount of praise is too great for Daniel Silva’s writing — the man’s ability to create a world that draws you in and never lets you go until the last page is simply amazing.
Gabriel Allon solves another mystery. Classic Dan Silva with a clever plot and solid characters. Not his best, but well worth the read. As much as I like Silva’s thoughtful thrillers, the repetitive model is getting a bit old.
“The Other Woman” is another fast-paced spy thriller steeped in deception, murder and treachery from Daniel Silva. A worthy installment in his Gabriel Allon series.
Love Daniel Silva ‘s books…looking forward to the next in the series.
We’ve read all of Daniel Silva’s Gabriel Allon books and were very disappointed in The Other Woman. Too wordy and didn’t hold our interest. Would not recommend.
I love a good spy thriller and Daniel Silva did not disappoint! As a history buff, with a particular affinity for the Cold War and all the espionage twists and turns, I truly appreciated the vein of historical fact that ran through the story and the incorporation of a real figure in the mystery. Thrilling read!
Is there anything better than a gorgeously written, riveting spy story? With THE OTHER WOMAN, Daniel Silva reaffirms his supremacy as the current master of the espionage thriller. However, if you’re seeking explosions, mad dashes, wild car chases, and endless firearm exchanges, this is not the book for you. It’s real spy stuff, surveillance, brain work; it’s phenomenal and also rather slow. But the rewards greatly outweigh the patience required to reach the conclusion.
As always with Gabriel Allon books, there are multiple players, extremely complex characters, a sometimes baffling and very intricate plot, all expertly executed. Russian defector Heathcliff – Konstantin Kirov, a double agent – is assassinated in Vienna. Who wanted him dead and why. The world sees Gabriel Allon, Israeli masterspy, as the most likely candidate for Heathcliff’s demise. There has to be another double agent, but who?
THE OTHER WOMAN is so incredibly detailed and realistic, it’s hard to believe that it’s fiction. And Mr. Silva’s writing has never been better: “A fog of smoke from his bonfire of lies hung reprovingly in the air.” How amazing is that prose for a thriller? Gabriel is described as late middle age and, in this book, it’s not a problem. Quite the opposite, as his experience and long-ago contacts help. This book is also quite a history lesson on espionage, and real historical figures are inserted in the narrative and contribute to the feeling of authenticity.
THE OTHER WOMAN is absorbing, stimulating, prodigiously enlightening, scrupulously researched, very ingenious. It is slow, but the story could not have been successfully told otherwise. And how extraordinarily carefully Mr. Silva writes specific characters at various times, keeping you guessing. And speculating! Could it be true? Could it happen? I’d like to mention two tiny details: there is exactly one typo “Fraulein” ( it should be Fräulein), and there is no such thing as “ordinary Canadian license plates”; they’re issued in the province of origin. Other than that, THE OTHER WOMAN is absolutely fantastic and a classic spy thriller! And be sure to read the Author’s Note.
I’ve read all Daniel Silva books – I enjoy them – many of them mirror events that have happened – interesting I’m a fan of his writing
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Main character has been a favorite of mine through many novels. I’d give it 5 stars, but clicking on fifth star does nothing!
Not his best.
