Nina Astor gave me one red-hot night, then disappeared like a ghost.Three months later, fate drops her in my lap.The only problem? She’s beyond off-limits, and we’re worlds apart.I’m a city prosecutor with a bit of a dark side. She’s the gilded daughter of a dynasty…and property of the scum of the earth. And the man who owns her is the subject of my next investigation.Nina thinks I’m on the right … next investigation.
Nina thinks I’m on the right side of the law, but she’s forgotten one thing:
When it comes to her, I’m not a good man.
To claim her as my own, I might sell my soul to the devil himself.
True be told…
When it comes to this woman, maybe I already have.

Really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning. I liked the characters and their great chemistry. The story was well written.
Matthew Zola likes married women, I mean even when he tries not to they simply find him. He isn’t the type to go for the happily ever after. He is old school New York. A former military man who now prosecute bad guys for New York City’s DA’s office. Zola knows what he wants and usually get it, that is until he meets Nina.
Nina, a woman bound by duty to her family to be the perfect woman and marry the right person is shaken after seeing what true love really looks like when her cousin Eric marries his long time friend/enemy Jane. She never knew it could be so all consuming. A chance encounter brings her to Matthew Zola. Even though she knows because of who she is this could never be more than a moment she refuses to not take the chance.
Gah! That’s all I can say. Nicole French has this way of writing characters that feel so real. They are complicated, messy, and flawed like all of us and you simply root for them from the beginning. That’s what makes her sense of complicated love so torturous! She has this way of not making the drama of it cheesy or overly dramatic. It is simply heartbreaking and Zola and Nina fall right into that storyline. But don’t fret because Nicole will take you on this rollercoaster and make sure it’s a good time. Zola and Nina are down but never out. I cannot wait for the next book and I will definitely be rereading this one because I love lingering pull these two have. I have read all of Nicole’s books and they just keep getting better.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own and do not reflect that of the author or publisher.*
OMG! Nina and Matthew will rip every emotion, feeling you can think of right out of your heart, have you in tears so many times you won’t be able to stop reading till the end which will blow your mind. You will laugh, cry, and get pulled in so quick you won’t want it to end. This author truely knows who to pull out your emotions and leave you breathless
Wow what another amazing read that will have you in for a hot ride of opposites attract, Matthew and Nina and a crazy mix of excitement and sweet softness that will have you hooked from the very first chapter and will be pulled in to the Witty and angst words that roll of the pages.
The Other Man (Rose Gold #1) by Nicole French
The Scarlet Night Prequel brought us a scorching night between Nina Astor de Vries Gardner and ADA Matthew Zola. We are introduced to their intense attraction.
The Other Man I knew that we’d be getting an amazing story from Nicole French, and I knew that she’d rip our hearts out with her signature angst.
This story ripped my heart out. It made me question what I would do if I was in Zola’s shoes. What would you settle for if you found your soulmate and she be ripped away from you having experiencing something so life altering.
With every interaction between Nina and Zola you can feel their chemistry. And yet your heart breaks because you know they cannot act on their attraction to one another.
And let’s just say that Zola can have my heart any time, because I don’t know what I wouldn’t do for a man like him!
Nicole French has written some amazing stories and characters, but The Other Man and Matthew Zola are in a class of their own.
This story will break you. It will hurt you. It will make you question how life can give you something exceedingly beautiful and special, just to rip it away in the next breath.
Together, Nina and Zola are like a five-alarm fire. Their chemistry is so blazingly hot, that it’s surprising they haven’t burned NYC to the ground. The connection between them is strong, yet heartbreaking in that they cannot act on the emotions that live in the spaces between them.
Another stunning book by a super-talented author. Now to wait for The Perfect Woman to see where Zola and Nina’s story goes next.
really liked the love story between Nina and Matthew, a lot of the story was a overlap of a another book, although I guess in order to understand the relationship it may have been necessary. Good writing though from Nicole French, just wished it had left out the overlap. That being said it was a great story.
A really good book that I absolutely could not put down or get enough of at all. These characters will keep you hooked from the very start. Just everything I love in a book and so much more.
Hell yeah! 5 stars all the way
The Other Man (Rose Gold, #1) was such an interesting read for me, to start with I want to say that I am very pleased with the outcome of this book and I can’t wait to see what will happen in the upcoming books. CAN.NOT.WAIT!!!
I am personally impressed with Nicole French ‘s storytelling and how much this book surprised me. It was not at all what I was expecting, it was better! This is a contemporary romance with very dark and twisted elements to it, and that has me hooked up with Nina and Matthew’s story.
Nina is not who I thought she would be and Matthew is definitely not who I thought he would be. And that is what makes this book so special. I am dying to read the next book and the wait is driving me crazy but in the meantime, I will rejoice in how much I loved this one and wait for the next one.
Nicole French has once again blown me away with her words and way of storytelling. She truly is a master of her craft! I fell in love with Nina and Zola immediately. This first part of their story is so emotional on so many levels. My emotions are still all over the place and my thoughts scattered. I never wanted two people together more, but have so many reasons and barries going against them. Even when I thought there was a chance there was another twist. Nicole really knows how to hook her readers and keep them engaged from start to finish. Very much looking forward to the next part of Nona and Zola’s story!!
Nicole French has me swooning with the old soul of Matthew Zola. The attraction between Nina and Matthew was fire as you could feel the heat with their body language and banter. This book will hit you in the feels as they try to navigate their feelings with obstacles keeping them apart. I look forward to the next book to see if the pair get the hea they deserve.
It took me a while to get into it to be honest, but I’m glad I did, it felt like I was in a roller coaster, I loved the hero!
Once again, Nicole has sucked me into her world from the very first chapter. Nina is just such a totally captivating heroine and Matthew…. well you just want to see him get that HEA. I am not even going to lie…. as I sit here and write this my head is still reeling and I am not even done processing this book, but like always Nicole has left us wanting more…. and more….. and more. I can not wait to find out what happens next! These 2, individually have completely intrigued me…. as a couple, they are have got me strapped in for the ride we are taken on. Be prepared…. Nicole French has a way of making you FEEL and you will want to shake her and ask her “WHY?!?!?!?” but I promise you…. she always brings around! I have been so in love with all of her books since the beginning and The Other Man is no different!
Oh Zola Zola Zola, how you make me swoon. This book is as flawless and wonderful as I expected. Nicole French, you have hit it out of the park yet again. I am no newbie to Ms. French and her characters and I have anxiously awaited this book and this story. Nina and Matthew are such a sexy couple. They give me the old Hollywood feel. This book was everything and more than I expected or could have asked for. My emotions were all over the place yet I couldn’t put it down and all I wanted was more….of everything! There were times I had to put it down, silent scream, and just breathe….and yet I would pick it right back up and carry on. The journey is amazing and worth every bit of everything.
I am already on pins and needles waiting for the next one!! This book brought out so many different emotions in me I lost count but one thing that never wavered was how much I adored Matthew. Matthew has a penchant for women who are unavailable and he doesn’t mind cause he is a bachelor through and through but that changes after one night with Nina. They both can’t stop obsessing about that one perfect night and know they can’t be together but Matthew doesn’t care and nothing will stop him from indulging in his obsession which is Nina. There is so much angst in this book that I devoured it and I need more Matthew ASAP
Holy smokes!!!! What a hangover!! Please, please, please bring on the next book as QUICKLY as possible! This book has everything all wrap up in a handsome cover…..intensity, love, passion, and so much chemistry! Mathew is that imperfect hero that you find like you know and just love! I fell in with him instantly. I can not wait until the next installment. I have to stop here because you have to read this book and giving spoilers will not do you any justice.
Those who say money can buy happiness haven’t walked a day in Nina’s shoes. Sure, it appears like she has it all, and she does, in some aspects. However, she’s not only miserable, but she’s also trapped, and doesn’t believe that will ever change. And then she meets Matthew. Maybe she can’t escape the future that awaits her, nor the decisions from the past that put her there, but perhaps she can steal a few hours of joy in the present.
Matthew is a former Marine turned criminal prosecutor. He’s a throwback to an older generation, and his entire focus is solely on his next case. Until he meets Nina and they spend an intense night together. She is now his obsession, even more so when he loses her. Nothing will stop him from finding Nina again and making her his forever. Well, maybe one thing…Okay, two. First, she’s married. Second, he’s investigating her husband.
So, yeah, to say things are complicated is an understatement. But there’s something about her…about them that makes Matthew want to forget all the obstacles in their way. As well as the realization that he’s the other man.
But not for long…Soon he’ll be her only man. And Nina discovers she’s truly free when she’s with him.
One-click now and follow along as these two cross paths and have to overcome the almost impossible odds standing between them and their HEA. I liked how gone for Nina the Hero was. As for her, you couldn’t help but sympathize with her and feel bad for the position she was in. Being married and having her be with and fall for another man is a tricky situation, but this author pulled it off.

What a great book! After reading Scarlet Night, I was eager to read the rest of Matthew and Nina’s story, and the author did not disappoint. They have such great chemistry and they both fulfill a need in the other. I can’t wait for the next instalment in the Rose Gold series.
The Other Man by Nicole French is a MUST read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
At first glance it seems like Nina has it all. She’s got more money than she could ever need, she’s got a beautiful home, what seems to be a good marriage and to top it off she’s a very beautiful lady. She seems to have it all together. Reality isn’t always what people let you see though and Ninas life isn’t as perfect as people think. I liked Nina. She comes across as meek sometimes but I can see her coming into her own over the course of this series.
Matthew is amazing. I loved everything about this guy from the way he dresses to the way he treats Nina. After spending the night together weeks previously Matthew is finding it hard to forget about Nina and when their paths cross again, he can’t walk away even if it means been the other man. I loved Matthew so much. He’s a genuinely good guy, he looks after his family, he doesn’t lead women on and he can be a really good loyal friend if you let him. He sees behind ninas mask and he’s determined to help. But sometimes to help you have to walk away and when you’re fighting the kind of pull and chemistry that Matthew and Nina are, well it’s not an easy thing to do.
This is the first book in the Rose Gold trilogy so don’t expect to get all the answers in this book and be prepared for the ending! A good start to Matthew and Ninas story and the Rose Gold series.
I love books with angst, drama, and all things forbidden. This book had that is spades. I have not read this author before, and now I’m interested in checking out more from her. Even though this is a novella, I really enjoyed it. I look forward to checking out the rest of the series. I think you should check this out if it’s something that sounds good to you.
