Nina Astor gave me one red-hot night, then disappeared like a ghost.Three months later, fate drops her in my lap.The only problem? She’s beyond off-limits, and we’re worlds apart.I’m a city prosecutor with a bit of a dark side. She’s the gilded daughter of a dynasty…and property of the scum of the earth. And the man who owns her is the subject of my next investigation.Nina thinks I’m on the right … next investigation.
Nina thinks I’m on the right side of the law, but she’s forgotten one thing:
When it comes to her, I’m not a good man.
To claim her as my own, I might sell my soul to the devil himself.
True be told…
When it comes to this woman, maybe I already have.

My goodness!! Nicole French Knows how to suck a reader in!! Exciting!!
It was love at a wrong time for Matthew and Nina. Thsi books pictures out the women who were trapped into marriage because of one reason and another. It also shows how strong is the attraction of the two.
‘The first book in this series starts out a little slow. However, once you get the story of the main characters it takes off with such raw emotion that it hooks you. There were times that I wanted to slap Nina myself. I don’t like how she toys with Matthews emotions. He truly cares for her and is trying to do what she wants him to do, no matter what. I can’t wait to read book 2 . I feel like there is going to be some hard choices coming in order for them to stay together.
WOW! It’s been a minute since I have read Nicole French and I completely forgot how she really takes your emotions on a ride. Matthew and Nina are really going to have you in your feels in the best of ways. Every page you just want more and more. This is a definite must read!!!!
Matthew is a district attorney, ambitious, and totally swoon worthy. Nina is the woman he met in a garden and they had a night together that he can’t forget. Nina is off limits because she’s married to a criminal that Matthew is investigating and she has other troubles. The couple can’t stay away from one another but how will things work out for them? An intriguing read.
Why do I do this to myself? Nicole French is one of my absolute favorite authors and she continues to deliver and get better with each book. This book was absolutely amazing and raw and emotional and everything we’ve come to know and live about Nicole. I can’t wait for book 2.
Just when you think Author Nicole French can’t possibly top her last book, she goes and completely blows you away AGAIN!
This book is packed with so much angst and love and topped off with off the charts steam!!!
We first met Matthew Zola in the spitfire series, where he’s a lawyer helping Jane and Eric DeVries, and FINALLY, he has his own book!!
Zola meets the woman of his dreams, only to find out that not only is she Eric’s cousin, but she’s also married. Not that it could stop these two from falling hard for each other!
Just when you think you know who these two are, you find out there’s so much more to them.
I can’t wait to read the next book!!!!
Wow, this book has every emotion possible and it’s so good, looking forward to Matthew and Nina next book.
The Other Man …oh my word what a sexy, sweet, intense ride with Nina and Matthew
Nina is a woman surrounded by family, wealth and power but at the end of the day she is lonely and unfulfilled. A chance meeting in a bar and a attentive, handsome man who shows her a night of unbridled passion but in the morning she walks away the same woman or has that night affected her in some way.
Matthew is a savvy, smart attorney that is making his way in the concrete jungle. He has a uncanny ability of finding the attached women ..lets call it a curse for him. It has always worked to his advantage, No attachment just a need met…until her.
I loved their story it was a fantastic unexpected sensual ride that took them both down a path neither saw coming !!!

I have to come to respect and love Nicole French as a writer. Her stories are heartwarming with a tad bit of distress.
This story has beautiful characters, an amazing storyline and the ability to draw you in and hold you close. What an amazing ride.
Jump on this train and head into the topsy, turvy, world of Nicole French. I promise you will not be disappointed.
This the first book in the series picks up with the last book of Eric’s trilogy and ha some carryover characters. First off this is another trilogy, therefore each book does end with a cliff hanger. Fans of Nicole French are aware of this author’s love of trilogies that are filled with characters you aren’t really sure you like and stories that have many layers. This story is no different. He has been known to enjoy affairs with women who are unattainable (married, engaged he doesn’t care). We know how they met. Now we find out more about them and what drives them.
This isn’t an easy tale and while this book has many aspects that are familiar since it’s his side of what’s going on with Jane and Eric, it’s also so much more. These two will have to dig deep and answer one question, what will you do for love. An emotional story that touches on some ugly dealings will have you bounding from one emotion to the next. It’s a wonderful read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Another amazing read from Nicole French with a well developed storyline, smooth transitions, and a timeline that has few, if any errors. As usual, Nicole’s characters are easy to love and relate to as real, human, flawed and perfect in their own way. Although this story overlaps with the final book in The Quicksilver Trilogy it is in NO WAY a retelling of the same story. Instead, we see key events in both stories, this time from the POV of Matthew and Nina who are the main characters of The Other Man. Up to this point both characters are prominent but minor characters in Nicole’s world. There is also a prequel to this book, The Scarlet Night, which details The main characters initial meeting. Neither is a necessary read to enjoy this book (but are enjoyable reads for sure)!
As always, Nicole’s characters come off the page and into your heart from the very beginning. They are rich characters with interesting back stories, secrets, and regrets. Matthew Zola is a sexy, hardworking lawyer with gentlemanly manners and a style from a bygone era. Don’t let the manners fool you though, this Italian is all alpha and all male. Nina Astor De Vries Gardner is as wealthy and polished as they come. Her Upper East Side life is both structured and lonely behind her “social” mask. When these two star crossed lover are tighter though the connection and chemistry is panty melting.
I enjoyed every delicious minute I spent reading this book. As I’ve come to expect from Nicole, this book is smart, well crafted, and more than just a love story. There is drama and some intrigue, some steamy scenes sure but also a plot line that allows reader to think through the details and development. On top of all of that is the angst of what seems to be an unattainable love.
This book IS part of a series and as such has some loose ends as it closes but I hesitate to say it’s a cliffhanger. A reader could walk away from this book and feel like the love story was at an acceptable point. Nicole leaves some questions unanswered but it is not an abrupt ending. I highly and without reservation recommend this book as a must read!
I don’t know why it took so long for me to finish this one. But I’ll be honest, this one’s not as exciting as Jane and Eric’s story is. When I flipped to the last page, then I found out it’s not the end yet. There’s another book for Zola and Nina’s story..I’ve been waiting for Zola’s story for what seems like ever, only to find out I need to wait again for the continuation of his story
Very much looking forward to it!
An emotionally wrenching read that’ll bring you to your knees!
Nina and Matthew had no intentions of more than one night. Nina has life, a husband, and a daughter. No matter how much she’s left with lingering feelings she can’t shake, she knows that nothing can come of it.
Matthew is used to sharing one night with a beautiful woman and then walking away from it. But there’s something about Nina, that no other woman can compare. Fate seems to be bringing them together in one way or another. Can something that seems so wrong, truly be what’s just right?
This author ended this with a cliffy that wrecked me. Now I wait, why I torture myself I’ll never know. I’m excited for this story to continue. An amazing story from my very first read by this author!
Nicole continues to provide us with stories that are so realistic, you can’t help but fall in love with (or hate) the characters. If you’ve never given a taboo romance a chance, read this one!! Starting with the prequel The Scarlet Night.
The trials and hardships these two go through… ugh my heart! I wouldn’t quite say it was a cliffhanger ending but I am for sure on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next installment! I loved seeing characters we met in previous series. I love the interconnection between all the books that Nicole has wrote.
Knocked it out of the park again, Ms. French!
The Other Man by Nicole French is the first book in her new Rose Gold series. A connected spin-off to her recently completed Quicksilver , this is the story of Matthew Zola and Nina DeVries. A man with a penchant for fine menswear, hard work, and a district attorney and a woman who should have everything but finds herself trapped in her marriage to an abusive jerk, trapped in fake friendships to shallow socialite’s and trapped in her desire for Matthew, the one man who makes her feel alive, who makes her feel like he actually sees HER. A powerful story that intertwines with what we have already lived through in the last quicksilver book but told from a completely different angle. The ins and outs of Matthew & Nina’s affair are complicated, heart breaking, and ultimately may just break them both. Especially with how this book ends, paving the way for book two to pick up from the cliffhanger we were left on. Sexy, steamy AND heartbreaking. I loved every torturous page and can’t wait for the next book, The Perfect Woman! Enjoy!
There was one reason that I couldn’t get into this book. The hero, Matthew Zola, is known for his affairs with married women. He has one night with socialite Nina Astor and he can’t forget her like all the rest. She’s in a loveless marriage with a man who is abusive.
If you don’t mind a complete disregard for marriage, this book will probably be fine. It just isn’t my thing so I stopped reading about 30% in.
Yet another start to what I am sure will be an amazing series. Nina and Matthew’s story is intense and their attraction to one another is undeniable. Starting with the prequel to this series, The Scarlett Night, the author continues leaving you wanting more. It’s a book that you don’t want to put down, rips your heart out, yet leaves you anxiously awaiting what happens next.
Where do I begin. Mathew and Nina are so explosive in more ways then one. She’s loyal to a fault and he has never wanted a woman like her before but can’t. The push and pull they keep giving to each other is enough to drive you insane. Mathew deserves happiness in his life and I’m not sure if he thinks this. Nina deserves more then what she gets from her husband. Will she finally realize what she’s been longing for before it’s too late for them both. What is in store for these two in the next and final book. I can’t wait. The characters from the other series added into their story is so amazing to hear about too. I love this series as much. Highly recommend.
It took me a little while to get into the book. But once I finally did. I loved it. I definitely recommend it.
Nina is a pretty woman and deserves but than who she she is with. Matthew just happen to be the better person for her.
