I got the call. The dreaded call every child fears. My dad wasn’t well, and the man who had always been my everything needed me. There was only one thing to do; pack up and head back to my hometown. I had finally made my dream life in the city with the great job and loving boyfriend. But was there really a choice not to go? I found a wonderful job, a quaint house to rent, my boyfriend was working … boyfriend was working on joining me in Binghamton, and my favorite pizza place was only miles away. Life was good.
Until I met my neighbor.
It’s been three years since I’d seen Aaron Walters, and my God is he all kinds of sexy gorgeous. Figures. He was supposed to be my forever, the man I grew old with, but he had different plans. How can a man who ripped my heart apart still trip me up? How can he make me still want him now more than ever?
I’m tempted, I’m drawn toward him, I’m completely and utterly unaware that I’m dating his biological brother.
Now two men own my heart. The question is, which brother will I choose?

5+ STARS!!!! The Other Brother is a second chance romance. This book will pull at your heartstrings! I wanted to cry for Aaron Walters from the beginning (and, if you read this book you will know why). Aaron never thought he deserved anything good, including Amelia. He broke her heart because he didn’t feel worthy of her. Amelia thought she had found her heart with Trey. As it turns out Trey is Aaron’s biological brother.
I will now let you read this wonderfully entertaining book! I HIGHLY recommend it!
So, The Other Brother (Aaron & Amelia) and My Best Friend’s Ex (Tucker & Emma) and Twisted Twosome (Racer & Georgiana) are all standalones but, if you want to see more of the other couples in The Other Brother then check out these other 2 books.
Of these three books I think The Other Brother is my favorite but, they are all fantastic books to read!
The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn is the follow up to My Best Friends Ex and Twisted Twosome.
Amelia and Aaron have a past. A past in which Aaron made Amelia leave, to make sure she had the life she deserved. While neither have truly gotten over each other, it’s been years since they’ve had to see each other, until Amelia’s dad falls ill and she has to relocate back home. Next door to Aaron.
Aaron’s background story made my heart ache. The way he was brought up could have made him into a different man than he became. Pushing Amelia away was his biggest regret but he knew his past would damage their relationship in some way eventually.
The Other Brother was a beautiful second chance romance that had me hooked from the first line. The situation between Amelia and Aaron was heartbreaking, from Amelia’s father to Aaron’s mother, to their love for one another that never quite died, I was utterly emotional throughout the entire book.
I will say this, I was shocked, to say the least, at a turn of events in the book. I didn’t see it coming and I must say it was absolutely perfect for this story. I have to say that The Other Brother my favorite out of the series.
SMILE-STEALING! HEART-STIRRING! AWE-INSPIRING!
My favorite Meghan Quinn book to date!
Aaron Walters is the sweetest, sexiest and swooniest Meghan hero ever!!
This one is not one you simply place on your shelf as a book boyfriend!
NOPE! This is the one you freaking marry!
AARON WALTERS IS A BOOK HUSBAND!!!
I haven’t read a book of Meghan’s that I did not enjoy but I think this one takes the top spot! Anyone who knows me, knows this is a big freaking deal because I LIVE for her Brentwood Baseball Boys!!! Baseball is my JAM….but man, apparently so is Aaron Walters!
I thought Aaron had me swooning when he was in his twenties and then the older and more mature Aaron definitely stole my heart but that sweet young Aaron at twelve years old broke my soul. I just wanted to wrap him up and protect him from EVERYONE and EVERYTHING that could ever hurt him.
When Aaron meets Amelia, the way these two connect, you can feel it pouring from the pages!
These two don’t just thrive within each others arms; they soar! They will have you smiling, laughing and yes…there will be tears. There is always a tear or two or million with Meghan Quinn’s books! But the laughs…OH MAN! She will have you laughing so hard one minute and then the tears rolling on the next page!
As you read this one, it’ll flip back and forth from past to present! Some may not enjoy this type of writing but I’ve found that I love that the most! More than having a couple chapters at the beginning of the past and then nothing but the future. Especially when the author can connect something that is currently happening in the present to something that happened in the past. It’s almost like those reminiscing moments that you have in your own mind when something snags your memories! The author gives you a chance to fall in love with this couple as they fell in love for the first time…even as you’re falling a second time during their present moments!
The hard thing is, if that lost love that just walked back into your life is with another person! I really enjoy reading love triangles; all of those wild emotions, angsty feelings and the reading high it causes! With this one, there is no cheating. It doesn’t bother me to read it but I do love when I come across one that does not involve any cheating. This one shows a depth of love so pure that one doesn’t want the person they love to feel that pain or guilt from taking that route to seal their fate.
I loved that part so much!
Aaron…he’s a freaking keeper! That’s where I come in..I’m keeping him! He’s mine!
The third book in Binghamton series is the first I read of the series. The characters called to me. A second chance to make things right between Aaron and Amelia and a lot of heart coming from both.
As soon as I received The Other Brother on my kindle I was so excited I did a little happy dance in my bedroom. I started reading it as soon as possible and was sucked into it right away. This story is very touching and heartwarming. The characters are very real and you connect with them right away, especially Aaron. Out of all of the characters I would have to say that he is my favorite. With all that went on and what he went through, I felt like if he was a person in front of me I would have hugged him. With everything I just wanted him to be happy and to be cared for.
All the characters show how strong they are and show what it’s like when things get tough in different types of situations. There were moments where I felt like I was on an emotional rollercoaster. Where I had cried just as hard as the characters, I just wanted to comfort them. Then there were moments where I was laughing so hard that my stomach hurt.
Racer and Tucker were absolutely hilarious with Aaron. They were also funny when they were around their significant other too and with Amelia around as well. Those moments were really great. The moments between Amelia and Aaron were mixed with the good and the bad, but when it was good it was special. Precious even. Amelia’s father was such a great character too. I loved him! I loved this book and it will be one of my favorite books for a long time because it definitely pulls on your heartstrings. If you don’t read this you are missing out on so many things.
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the chemistry between Aaron and Amelia. For me it was the little details that really got me like the friend’s favorite snack cakes or Amelia’s favorite pizza. Aaron is sweet and a bit damaged and totally lovable. I would cuddle up to him for sure. Amelia is also likeable as she has a lot of life going on. The other brother portion is a bit of a taboo twist that I totally bought into. By the end of it I had laughed and cried and fell in love with the Binghamton boys. Even though this is book 4 I ended up reading it first which is okay because they are all standalone but now I have to go back and hopefully meet his friends and other couples that make cameo’s. It’s not a book I could read in a day but worth the time for sure.
Oh Smalls! You’re killin me in all the good ways! This story of Amelia and Aaron (Smalls) is classic Meghan! It gives you ALL the feels, the laughter, the joy and pain and oh the hotness! From their past and their present and future you root for them. The fantastic dialogue between the two main characters and of course the secondary characters is brilliant. And the sentiment behind “wanting a home with stairs” was so, so moving and really drew me in. I love all of this author’s work and how she always brings a bit of herself in her stories is phenomenal. Please do not ever stop writing the stories!
Meghan Quinn is an amazing author and she continues that with The Other Brother. Aaron and Amelia are great characters . Aaron (Smalls) has had a rough childhood and never really got over it . Amelia had a great child hood. They meet a few years ago and fell in love . Until they broke up and Amelia left for college. Now she is back but she has a bf who she loves, but does she love him enough to move on from her new neighbor. The love of her life at one time Aaron Walters. He says he will have her again.
This book was another great one by Meghan . This book was hilarious, I laughed so hard I cried . This book was filled with so my different emotions . I cried for Aaron , he was so broken. I love the relationship between all the characters . Every character brought something to the story . There was just so many parts of it that I loved . Great book and a great story.
NO SPOILERS!
The Other Brother was amazing and my favorite romantic comedy from Meghan Quinn to date! Meghan Quinn is an incredibly talented writer and I have fallen head over heels in love with her writing style and humor. She is most definitely one of my top favorite romance authors and I am so freaking happy that I discovered her books earlier this year. She truly outdid herself with The Other Brother, and I completely fell in love with Aaron, Amelia, and their unforgettable story.
Aaron and Amelia were phenomenal and I immediately fell in love with them and their story. They are my favorite characters and couple that Ms. Quinn has written so far, and I loved reading every single word of their story. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading it from both of their POV, and I enjoyed the brief flashbacks to their past. I truly connected with Aaron and Amelia and couldn’t have loved them more if I tried. Aaron is definitely my new favorite book boyfriend, and I have a huge crush on Amelia. These characters were so amazing and it was an absolute honor and privilege to go on this journey with them. There were certainly plenty of up and down moments throughout, but each and every one of them were totally worth it in the end. I loved The Other Brother from beginning to end, and I was extremely happy with the conclusion to Aaron and Amelia’s story.
The secondary characters were wonderful as well, and they definitely added more humor and entertainment to the book. I loved getting to see several familiar faces again from My Best Friend’s Ex and Twisted Twosome, as well as the introduction of a new character, Amelia’s best friend, Amanda. I’m crossing my fingers that Ms. Quinn will write her story in the near future. I know I would absolutely love it.
The Other Brother was sweet, sexy, heartbreaking, and an utter delight to read. It was one of my TOP FAVORITE romantic comedies of 2017 and one of the best second chance romances that I’ve ever read. Meghan Quinn completely blew me away with Aaron and Amelia’s story, and I couldn’t have been more ecstatic with the outcome. This book completely exceeded my expectations and made me extremely happy. The Other Brother was beyond amazing and I highly recommend it!
Finally we get to read Smalls’ (Aaron) story. I didn’t think Meghan could follow up Racer’s story with an equally noteworthy read, but she succeeded. I fell in love with Aaron. He is one of the 3 friends that are construction-workers, each with their own unique story and their own baggage of demons. This is book 4 in the Binghamton series and Meghan Quinn did a great job at keeping Aaron and his story quiet throughout the series. To me, this made him that much more mysterious and his story that much more incredible.
This story is a second chance romance. Aaron and Amelia had a relationship in the past and Aaron unselfishly ended the relationship so Amelia would continue to pursue her dreams, but breaking both of their hearts in the process. Fast-forward 3 years and family circumstances has Amelia moving back home and next-door to, who else but Aaron Walters. Now Amelia has to relive her hurt feelings, deal with her sick father and keep her long-distance relationship going. Meanwhile, Aaron has never stopped loving Amelia and intends to get her back in his life one way or another.
I loved this story. It kept me engaged throughout and in typical Meghan Quinn style, laughing as well. This book once again will have you falling for the underdog Aaron.
***5 Once In A Lifetime’ Stars***
O M G Smalls!
Well, I guess I really should call him Aaron from now on, even though he’s been Smalls for two books, but seriously!
This man was just….*happy dopey sigh* everything!
And I thank the powers that be for that because, as we all know, the whole love triangle trope isn’t my favorite one, not that I hate it or anything, but I just don’t readily reach for it if given a choice. But, for more reasons than one, I really didn’t have a choice because I wanted Aaron’s story so badly and I loved every word of it. From getting to know Aaron and Amelia to watching as they reconnected and dealt with their past, as well as their present and the ever present current boyfriend. The Other Brother was the perfect of sweet, smexy, humor, drama and a whole lot of heart that makes so difficult to put the book down.
Okay. I’m obviously in full on adoration with Aaron. He’s full on top BBF material, but he falls in the practically perfect side of the spectrum because the man does have his faults and while those faults are in large part due to how he grew up, which had my heart hurting for him, and are for all intents and purposes, selfless, he ain’t perfect, believe me I wanted to reach out and smack some sense into him. But what he is, is a man who didn’t have the perfect childhood, but kept his heart golden and worked really hard to achieve his goals and better himself.
Now with so much “I adore Aaron” going on, it may seem like Amelia got pushed to the background, but that isn’t necessarily the case. She is sassy, snarky, has a bit of a wild streak that only comes out to play in certain situations as well as a bit of a tendency to overreact. But at her core she is driven and has a compassionate heart that cares so deeply that, while it can take a beating, it takes a while for the hurt to go away.
Their journey is a mish mash of love triangle and second chance, but more so second chance than any else, which I was very happy about for obvious reasons. Their journey was about forgiveness, redemption and doing a lot of soul searching about what it meant to be in love with someone vs. loving someone and while that made for a bumpy ride, it was tempered by a brutal honesty by both Aaron and Amelia that brought about a clarity and understanding of what broke them apart and opened the door to a new relationship between them. I honestly loved Aaron and Amelia together, the chemistry between them jumped off the page and they just felt right, even with the baggage they were carrying. The big old twist in their relationship is stated in the description, but I really liked how it played out and where they were at in the end.
The Other Brother is simply a swoonfest. There are laugh out loud moments, even when it didn’t revolve around Racer, and sniffly teary eyed moments (not good ones to have whilst reading at work) but all in all this was a well thought out love story. I’m doing the verbal vomiting/gushing/broken record thing, but I can’t help it. As for the supporting cast of characters. I loved catching up with Tucker, Emma, Racer and George and if I didn’t already adore them,I would after experiencing them and the loyalty they have to each other through Aaron’s eyes. And then there is Amanda, Amelia’s BFF, I fucking ADORE this girl and I’m crossing my toes that we will get more of her in the future because she is truly badass!

One of my favorite things about literature is that they can affect you in a plethora of ways. Sometimes it might remind you of a memory. Sometimes it resonates within your soul and makes you feel sad or happy. The reaction is always different depending on the reader and therein lies the beauty of words. They are magic. This is one of those books that do all of the above–at least for myself.
This book hit me hard. I was adopted. I had biological siblings. My childhood consisted of being in the system before finally being adopted. While my story was different it still gave me the same insecurities just in reverse. It made my heart break for Aaron. I wanted to hold him and tell him that he was good enough. That he did deserve good things–including to and not limited to being loved and loving in return.
Amelia. Good lord. This woman was perfect. Truly perfect. I felt the hurt that she felt with her dad. Her love for Aaron and her conflicted feelings were genuine and on point. What would it be like to be caught with your heart loving two people?
Aaron. Sweet sex on a stick. That man is EVERYTHING. Every time I read one of Meghan’s books I tell myself that there is NO way that I can love any character more than I did before. I should just quit challenging myself because i do every time. I am putting my foot down though and say that Smalls is my favorite. He melted my jaded heart. He reminded me that it is possible to not only love but to love UNCONDITIONALLY. His heart is even bigger than his muscles.
Together they are sublime. They make each other better people. They help restore the belief that there is such thing as kismet or soulmates. Normally, Meghan’s books have a lot of humor in them. While there is humor it is not as much the focus in this one as the hidden underlying message of the importance of feeling love and BEING loved.
This book is a standalone but I would recommend reading the first books in this series because the characters from the other books make an appearance in this book (which were hilarious BTW). You won’t regret it. I promise (and you are welcome in advance).
I am sad that this series is over. I feel like all of these characters are my friends. I want to know about their futures. However, I say this after every one of Meghan’s books/series and then she starts a new series or book taunting me as if it is a shiny squirrel and then I fall in love again. This book/series will be hard to move from the top spot.
I received a complimentary advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review. If I had my way this book would get more than 5 stars. Definitely one of the best of 2017.
Holy moly cow I love Smalls! Man this is a great cover, totally lickable.
“I’ve always been the other. The other friend, the other employee . . . the other brother. For once in my life I want to be the only.” <— - Uh, you can be my only, m’kay big guy! Seriously, a man that does jazz hands and gets his groove on to his jam of It’s Raining Men, he’s for sure a freakin’ keeper! Ahhh that was such a great part. I mean he takes pride in his house, has a sweet tooth for Little Debbie snacks, is a sweetheart, he was breaking my heart all over the place and he wears his heart on his sleeve. Can I have him? Gah, what a guy! This was such a great book, I loved it all. I even loved that we got more of Tucker and Racer. I was going back and forth on Amelia, but she grew on me. Eek, this book got me all excited!
4.5 stars
Meghan Quinn is magic. The Other Brother is pure heart. Heartache, heartwarming, and heartfelt.
I am trying not to cheapen my feels about this book but I have to say this…that cover model is gorgeous. My pervy side needed to say that. Next I need to mention the opening comment from my dear friend Racer…I am still rolling my eyes and cracking up. It’s not even that funny but it is 110% Racer. Yes, Racer. You know the guy from Twisted Twosome…Speaking of old friends, let’s not forget Tucker. sigh…Meghan Quinn is kind enough to keep feeding us crumbs of their stories and I will gladly gobble them up.
Whoops, I got distracted. Hard not to with these three together. Anyhow… The Other Brother. The feels, the depth of meaning, and my poor heart (yes, it always comes back to me). I wanted to cry almost as much as I actually did. Now before you write it off as too touchy feely, this book connected with me in a way it won’t with most. I was in my own family, at least it felt like I was, the other brother. (Just go with me…no not the same story but negligence, even accidentally, feels the same)
So while these two have some wildly funny conversations, a “raging” case of unique alcohol choices, and friends who need to be leashed (Racer), they also have heart and big big drama. Meghan Quinn would never finish a book without even a teeny tiny bit of humor and this book has it in spades, canes, and walkers.
The Other Brother may not wipe any of Ms. Quinn hero’s from your heart but I know without a doubt Aaron “Smalls” Walters is absolutely in there too taking up space you didn’t know you had available.

This was such a beautiful story! It wasn’t just about Aaron and Amelia and their second chance at love. It gives great background of Aaron and his life. From the very beginning you get a great sense of the kind of man he will grow up to be. Without having all of the details, his whole life (possibilities of what he dealt with) flashed in my mind. Which is why it was so great for him when he met and fell in love with Amelia. Always feeling like he is not good enough in general, and the fact that he is always trying to do what is right for everyone else is what eventually broke them up. When she got a call that her dad was getting worse in the nursing home that he was now living in she had to go to spend more time with him. And it just so happened that she ended up renting the house right next to her first love. They start to reconnect, but a relationship isn’t possible since she is with another man (even though he still hasn’t moved to be with her). Aaron wants her back, but he doesn’t want to hurt her in the process so he decides to be her friend.
I don’t think I have ever before read a book where the male character is so openly vulnerable and wearing his heart on his sleeve. Taking the chance at very serious heartbreak. He definitely made me shed more than a few tears.
The Other Brother is both a heartbreaking and uplifting contemporary romance that will completely consume you from the start. I was sucked into the story from the first sentence of the Prologue and was taken on an emotional ride. I laughed. I teared up. My heart beat erratically and most importantly I absolutely fell in love with both Aaron and Amelia. I couldn’t have asked for anything more for their story. It was everything I wanted and everything I needed.
Now, before you get crazy, this isn’t a book that is just full of heartbreak and emotions. There is so much joy and laughter scattered throughout. I only say that it is heartbreaking because of my love for Aaron and it broke my heart seeing him so broken from his past. I say it is uplifting because we see the man he is meant to be and his love overall is the most precious gift anyone could ever be given.
It’s no secret that I like my jerky men and it takes a lot for me to be swept away by a sweet guy. I guess you can say that I like to torture myself. Who knows, but the moment I read how Aaron and Amelia met and every thing he says and does for her, I melted. Seriously melted. I can’t tell you how many times my heart raced and I got butterflies in my stomach from his words and actions. There has really only been one other sweet man that has stolen my heart and Aaron actually ended up with it.
I just adore Amelia. She’s a bit feisty but mostly she’s loyal and loves fiercely. It’s clear that she was never over Aaron but I liked how open and honest she was with him and how did gave him a run for his money. She is so carefree and wild when she is with him and it is exhilarating to see happen.
If you are looking for a second chance romance that will sweep you off your feet while pulling at your heart and your mind then entire time, then this is the book for you. It will make you feel and it will be worth it.
After Twisted Twosome…..I didn’t think there was anyway that I would love Aaron (a.k.a.Smalls) more than Racer. And boy, was I wrong. He completely captured a small piece of my heart in The Other Brother. Aaron had his second chance at love, yet he respected Amelia enough not to push it too far until she was ready. Was it strange that she had fallen in love with Aaron’s brother? In some way yes, some ways no. I truly believe Amelia unknowingly recognized something in Trey that reminded her of Aaron. And somehow fate brought them back together.
I absolutely love Meghan Quinn and her storytelling. She manages to perfectly mix humor and laughter with romance and sexiness. I just absolutely enjoyed this story so much and I look forward to reading what she comes up with next!
“I’ve always been the other. The other friend, the other employee…the other brother. For once I wanted to be the only.
You’re KILLING me Smalls!!!!!
They might call him “Smalls”, but he has the biggest heart. Speaking of hearts, Aaron will melt yours from the prologue to the epilogue!
I have enjoyed this crew before in other books from this author, but you will not lose anything in translation reading this as a standalone. Grab yourself a Little Debbie and dive in to Binghamton and enjoy this smooth talker with a side of smart ass that Quinn delivers effortlessly.
This book is the third book of this author’s standalone romantic comedies about three best friends that have a construction business together. This is Aaron’s book and I was not disappointed. I laughed, I cried, I got mad and I held my breath a few times! What an emotional roller coaster this was. All the books have been laugh out loud funny, but they also had an emotional side to them. This one gutted me. My heart hurt for both Aaron and Amelia. Aaron had a terrible childhood and the circumstances of what made him into the man he is today makes him a miracle. He is so sweet, caring, hardworking, he is amazing. How he turned out this way, I repeat, is a miracle.
Aaron has loved only one woman, Amelia. He made the mistake of letting her go because she had dreams and he didn’t want to hold her back. He couldn’t go with her because he felt he had other obligations and she deserved someone that could give her more. Now three years later, Aaron is part owner in the construction business, has bought his own home and doing well for himself. He had no idea that the new neighbor would be the woman that he gave up.
Amelia can’t believe that her beloved father doesn’t recognize her anymore. He has more bad days than good. This disease has robbed him of his memories and Amelia is heartbroken. She has returned back to her hometown to be near her father. She had a life in the city with her job and her boyfriend, but because she needed to be with her father she started over. She has a new job that she loves as a high school counselor and is renting a house that is next door to the man that shattered her world. She loved Aaron with everything she had. She was so sure they were going to be together forever, so when he told her to go on to college and leave him behind, she was devastated. He severed all ties. Wouldn’t answer her phone calls. She had no choice but to move on.
This is a story about love, loss, forgiveness, misunderstandings, and second chances. It is the total package. I felt a gamut of emotions and I was so invested in this book. I really loved it.
I highly recommend this romantic comedy that will tug at your heart strings!
ALL THE FEELS!!! Aaron and Amelia’s story is a must-read. Meghan Quinn is the master of laugh-out-loud funny and an expert of angst. The geriatric neighbors alone are enough to make this a 5-star read!
Aaron (Smalls) is my book soulmate! This guy is so incredible. He puts others needs ahead of his own even when it costs him the love of his life. How could you not love a sexy, business owner with a heart of gold and abs that you could wash your clothes on?
Amelia is the perfect heroine. She stands up for what she wants and doesn’t let anyone walk all over her. No pushover here! She is smart, sassy, and has a penchant for pizza. Her dads declining health brings her back to town and things really start heating up!
Trey……I wanted to hate him so badly, but Meghan did not make it easy. He is a good guy. Sweet, caring, and not the villain I wanted him to be which is so refreshing. I could feel Amelia’s struggle and it pulled at my heartstrings.
This truly is one of the best reads of 2017!
