This book was the first one I read by Philippa Gregory. I love her vivid and detailed writing style. I was transported to another world when reading this book; I felt like I was part of King Henry’s court! I have since read several of her other novels, particularly the Tudor ones. I am a big fan of her work and have developed a deeper interest in …
I love all of her books and this one was not exception.. Fictional account of Anne Boelyn’s sister.
Wonderful historical novel with great factual content. I really enjoyed it!
she write wonderful historical fiction . loved all her books and this one is no exception
One of my favorite pieces of historical fiction.
Nothing reads like a book on the Tudor times! Never a dull moment within these pages.
While we have heard of Anne Boleyn, this story is about her sister and the palace intrigue that was everywhere surrounding Henry VIII.
I loved this book I’ve read other books by this author but none ever matched this.
I have always been intrigued by the Tudor court. This book adds a depth and richness to what is already the focus of much study during that period: the relationship of King Henry VIII with the influential Boleyn family.
Historic
This was the first book I read by Phillipa Gregory and I heve read many others by her since. Her ability to write historical fiction that is as accurate as time passing allows is an inspiration for me to attempt the same.
The story of how one of Henry VIII’s lovers survived and prospered is the result of careful study and fictional …
Excellent. Good read
Philippa Gregory is one of my favorite historical fiction writers.
I hadn’t read much about Anne Boleyn and the Tudors. This was my first introduction to the period, and it prompted me to learn more. So much I didn’t know!
Excellent.
This is a pretend historical novel that relies heavily on gossip and sex appeal. It’s elements may be based on truth, but it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
Having been on an ‘anything Tudor’ kick lately, I decided it was finally time to remove this book from my wish list and give it a go. I’m certainly glad I did…it was very entertaining, yet at the same time, a bit exhausting. The Boleyn family’s never-ending pursuit of Henry was riveting and tiresome all at the same time. Even though I, of …
The beginning of the end of all the Henry VIII wives. And my love for Phillipa Gregory’s books.
This is another of Philippa Gregory’s historical novels that imagines herself tattling on English royalty. In this case her target is Anne Boleyn’s sister who was not raised in France.
Love this story. Anything about Anne Boleyn or King Henry. Even better than the movie. Read this a long time ago but nonetheless a book I never forgot.
