The #1 New York Times bestseller from “the queen of royal fiction” (USA TODAY) Philippa Gregory is a rich, compelling novel of love, sex, ambition, and intrigue surrounding the Tudor court of Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, and the infamous Boleyn family.
When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of fourteen, she catches the eye of the handsome and charming Henry VIII. Dazzled by the king, … VIII. Dazzled by the king, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realizes just how much she is a pawn in her family’s ambitious plots as the king’s interest begins to wane, and soon she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. With her own destiny suddenly unknown, Mary realizes that she must defy her family and take fate into her own hands.
With more than one million copies in print and adapted for the big screen, The Other Boleyn Girl is a riveting historical drama. It brings to light a woman of extraordinary determination and desire who lived at the heart of the most exciting and glamorous court in Europe, and survived a treacherous political landscape by following her heart.

I re-read this for like the fifth or sixth time while in London, because of course I did. I’m a Tudor history nut (thanks to this book!), and while the plot isn’t entirely historically accurate, it’s such a fun and thrilling read.
I really enjoyed the fact that it incorporated real historical characters set in a specific time period in Europe with a page turning fictional story about the royal characters. It have very good insight into the time period.
Philippa Gregory is a master at weaving together various threads to create a rich tapestry of life at the court of Henry VIII. While not completely historically correct, “The Other Boleyn Girl” is the story of Anne Boleyn’s sister, Mary. Smitten by King Henry, her family uses her as a pawn to gain political power. Mary revels in her role of …
I’m not usually a historical fiction reader, but this book was available on CD at the library when I had a long drive ahead of me. It grabbed me from the beginning and I sat in my car once I arrived just to hear the end.
I first read this book 7 years ago and I have kept it to reread. I rarely ever reread a book. Seriously, roughly 1 in 20 I reread. Anyway, I loved this book because I could tell that Mrs. Gregory put many, many hours into research and I felt like this could have really happened. It’s not a fairy tale. These women were political pawns and no matter …
One of Philipa Gregory’s best book ever. My favorite historical fiction of this time period
She is the best in historic fiction. Love it all. Every book she has written is wonderful but this is one of the best.
I love all of Philippa Gregory’s books
Loved the history. Learned about Great Britain
Philippa Gregory builds a world of passion, intrigue, and steamy drama where at the urging of her family, Mary Boleyn charms her way into the king’s heart and soon after, his bed. Mary soon discovers that her new world of royalty and riches is laden with plotting nobles and unsteady ground. In this adventure through sixteenth century England, …
I have read this book over and over again – it brings the story of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn to life in such a way that it’s impossible to put down. It captures the characters’ cruelty and vulnerability from the very first page.
This book was amazing. Far far better than the movie. One thing is certain, she fared better than the rest!
I love the entire Tutor period. This whole series is good, but this one is easy to start with. The movie is pretty good, too.
I love this book (not the movie) tells a real Cinderella story about Anne’s sister, Mary. Wow!
Great
Very interesting to see how lives were lived then. Glad I live now.
Immediately picked up a few more books by this author. A great read.
You know the story, but told from a historically secondary character, it feels brand new. Gregory fills in holes to round out an intriguing plot. Read this years ago and still count it as one of my all time favorites.
Realistic fictional history grounded on detailed research.
Great historical fiction!
