From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Laurelin Paige comes a new story in her Found Duet series… have passed. Kids have been born. We’re still in love as always, and the sex is still fantastic…
And yet, it’s also not. Like many who’ve been married for a while, I long for the high intensity of those days of the past.
I’ve heard rumors for years about the Open Door. An ultra-exclusive voyeur’s paradise. A place to participate in—or watch—any kind of display you can imagine.
My husband’s eyes would still be on me. And maybe other eyes too. If that’s what we want.
So when an invitation to come play arrives, how could we turn it down?
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

I loved JC and Gwen in the Found Duet, and I love them even more now. Real life has intruded on their love life, and they’re ready to spice things up again. An unexpected invitation to a secret sex party has them intrigued, but can they stick to their plan to just look?
Hands down, this story is one of my favorites this year… I couldn’t get enough of the erotic turns they took while rediscovering the passion that drew them together in the first place. This story is 5 star, 5 alarm heat and I couldn’t get enough!
Exceptional insight of another world. Exciting & erotic.
Wow…this was such a hot and sexy story. Romance is never gone when a couple is as in love with each other as JC and Gwen. After 3 kids though, Gwen is a little worry about their sex life, especially when JC surprises her with an invitation to a exclusive club that they thought was only a rumor. JC didn’t purchase the membership but was given to him by a wealthy client. Gwen is fascinated and intrigue by the club but is worry that JC thinks their sex life needs a little something extra.
Their first time at the club got them all revved up for each other and it last a while but after a few weeks, they kind of went back to their usual routine. Gwen wants more than the same old routine though so they revised some rules and went to the club again. Gwen wants to be more open and experiment with some different things but is apprehensive about it too.
Gwen and JC are so in love with each other that they get jealous at the thought of having someone else be involved with them. Gwen admits her insecurities but come to realize that JC loves her the way she is and that they just have to communicate with each other about what they want. Romance isn’t dead just because you have a life together!
THE OPEN DOOR is the latest novella in Laurelin Paige’s contemporary, adult THE FOUND DUET erotic, romance series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights. This is the continuing story of billionaire JC Bruzzo, and night club manager Gwen Anders. The Found Duet is a spin off from Paige’s FIXED SERIES but you do not have to have read the previous series to understand the premise.
WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line content there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers including FFM sexual situations and rape play/fantasy.
Told from first person point of give (Gwen Anders) THE OPEN DOOR follows billionaire JC Bruzzo, and night club manager Gwen Anders as they take advantage of an invitation to participate at The Open Door exclusive $ex club for the rich and famous. With three young children Gwen finds herself wondering if their $ex life is no longer in the cards but an invitation to The Open Door peaks our couple’s curiosity, a curiosity that threatens Gwen’s fragile hold on her self-esteem when jealousy threatens their nights alone.
THE OPEN DOOR is a story of one couple struggling to amp up their relationship, a relationship Gwen believes is threatened by motherhood and time. Eagerness gives way to participation but anxiety and jealousy frighten our heroine when her limits are tested at The Open Door. The premise is erotic and intense; the characters are animated and seductive; the romance is passionate and raw.
I absolutely love anything from this author!! JC and Gwen are back! They are married now with kids and are trying to get their groove back. When they are introduced to The Open Door the possibilities are endless. It’s a club offering adults the opportunity for a fun and sexy evening. Will this be just what they need to add the spice back into their marriage? I loved checking in with this couple and I can’t wait to have more from this author!
I love JC and Gwen and I enjoyed this novella and getting to see their life together married and raising kids. And boy is it sexy! I love the connection between JC and Gwen and how Laurelin Paige’s writing makes you feel it through everything they do together. Together they explore their boundaries and their loyalty and honesty to each other is beautiful. I enjoyed the intrigue of The Open Door, the emotions the story elicited, and the bond between JC & Gwen. They’re so in love with each other it’s spellbinding.
It was nice to read what Gwen and JC have been up to. Their love is so true and unconditional that it can withstand anything. There bond is unbreakable. Thank you Laurelin for another amazing story in the Fixed universe and The Open Door.
Real, hot, authentic and simply good! I’m not usually a fan of novellas as they often just seem lacking in some way but Paige knocks this one out of the park.
I honestly decided to give this novella a try after reading a blog post Paige wrote about how reading romance books have improved her marriage. In The Open Door, I love how she took a married couple and explored the topic of how to keep the flame alive years later when jobs, kids and life in general all claim a part of your attention, energy and stamina.
I have not read her The Found Duet series so I went into this novella not knowing anything about our main couple. I instantly liked them because you could tell they have a deep love for one another. What I loved best about this book was that they were a couple that valued communication in their relationship and it was so important given the issues that came up when they were gifted a membership to The Open Door – an elite sex club. This novella touches on body issues post pregnancy and age, concern about dwindling desire and attraction as well as what boundaries can be pushed when exploring sex in ways that others may consider taboo.
Even if sex clubs aren’t your cup of tea, I thought this was an excellent read about a really great couple that’s doing it right in their marriage.
The Open Door is a perfect example of a 1001 Dark Nights book–it absolutely stands on its own, but it also offers a little extra to those who have read other books in the series or even just by Laurelin Paige (Trish and Nate from Dirty Filthy Fix make an appearance; woot!) If you haven’t read other books in The Found Duet, no worries–this is a self-contained story about a couple trying to reaffirm their commitment to each other through exploration–but there’s teasers galore about the stories before (what do you mean he ghosted her before their wedding?)
The Open Door gives us a glimpse into the lives of Gwen and JC as a couple–the less-than-glamorous (but incredibly endearing) life they share with their three boys and their private lives in the bedroom (and the car, the playroom, and the Open Door…) Once again I’m amazed that a 1001 Dark Nights story managed to pack so much story into such a compact space: this isn’t just a steamy erotic romance, it’s also a very sweet story about a couple learning how to communicate their wants and needs to each other more effectively to strengthen their bond.
Plus, it’s really, really hot. Let’s not lose track of that. 😉

The Open Door:
A Found Duet Novella
By: Laureline Paige
*REVIEW*
The Open Door is my introduction to Laureline Paige, as well as Gwen and JC. This story is definitely relatable for anyone who has been married for a while with kids. It’s so easy to let things slide, and problems gradually develop. I think most married women feel unattractive or undesirable at some point, so Gwen’ s feelings are not unusual. The question is what to do about it? If Gwen and JC feel bored with their sex life, an invite to The Open Door is the perfect opportunity to turn things around, if they set parameters. I would never enter this type of place without definitive ground rules. It’s a sensual exotic unreal experience, how will it affect them as a couple and individually? No spoilers! You must read if you want answers. What a break from everyday life! This story is definitely unique and fun. I enjoyed reading about Gwen and JC and their adventures as a married couple. They are wonderful characters with warmth and charm, and they are adorable together. The problems of marriage in the bedroom are universal and understandable. It’s a relevant topic that gives the story more authenticity and relatability. I found The Open Door thought provoking, entertaining, smart and smoking hot. It’s an excellent escape that’s also a quick read. Definitely check it out!
Oh wee, gosh, whew!!! That was really hot!!! *continues fanning myself*
As someone who hasn’t read the series yet (to my never ending dismay), I didn’t find any trouble reading this novella in its own. But of course, for maximum reading experience, then read The Found Duet first.
The Open Door is a steamy, titillating and scandalous novella about a married couple joining a sex club. It’s the story of Gwen and JC, who have been married for years and have three kids. Juggling crazy work schedules, taking care of 3 little humans plus friend obligations, these two have barely enough time to theirselves and only manages a few sexy times in between, sometimes not even. However, their mutual love and respect to each other is very strong so they’ve decided why not attend one of these hush-hush parties to get a feel of it.
I must admit that I find myself pausing every now and then as I read on and relate to what Gwen was experiencing. Her fears and insecurities was something I think every normal married woman faces daily, myself included. Keeping the flames and excitement of a marriage is an endeavor that must be done together by a couple. You know the saying; it takes two to tango. And it is up to the married couple whether they will need music to get their groove on or dance their way to their own rhythmn.
Nevertheless, this story is an eye opener and will really make you take a good look (well, I did) at your married life status. I loved the author’s realistic take in this story and how well it has turned out. I loved it and couldn’t wait to read more from the author!
The only way to describe this novella is HOTTTT! I loved catching up with Gwen and JC and their kids after years of marriage. Keeping the romance alive after all of that is important in the book and in real life. If your love life is in a slump, read this book! And dear lord have a fan nearby!
I loved getting a little more from Gwen and JC. This book was really hot!!
I loved JC in the first book… and that did not change in this book! I love reading these happily married books that is a continuation of their love story. JC and Gwen are as hot as ever! LOVED IT! Loved the Fixed World and love visiting!
Who says marriage has to get boring over time…
I really enjoyed this short story. Admittedly, I never read the original duet (which I will definitely be doing now because I need more of this couple), but it didn’t detract from the story. I was able to follow it easily.
JC and Gwen are amazing. Their love is on full display in this story. They’re a real couple experiencing the highs and lows of married life but making time for themselves in the most delicious ways. I love their adventurous spirit that combines with their unwavering trust in each other. They are a couple you can absolutely fall in love with.
Steamy, sweet, funny, and everything in between, this novella packs a punch and you’re going to love it.
This is a quick read but doesn’t lack the steamy goodness we have come to expect from Laurelin Paige. JC & Gwen are initially found in the Find/Free Me Duet. Fast forward a few years and 3 kids later, JC & Gwen are looking to spice things up. They get an invite to a secret club. Lots of hot & steamy times ensue from there that will melt your kindles.
You won’t want to miss this book. It is HOT! The characters are wonderful. I loved seeing familiar names. JC is swoonworthy. The plot is really good. This book touches on insecurities we sometimes have in marriages when lives are busy and family happens. I really enjoyed this quick read & look forward to reading her next book!

Gwen and JC were hawt in The Found Duet, but in The Open Door, they’re even more electric, not only because JC continues to push Gwen’s sexual boundaries but also because they’re a happily married couple with children they adore who still yearn for each other desperately, and even though they don’t get nearly enough time to be alone, experiencing the ecstasy of their joined bodies, they still can easily get lost in each other, reaping the benefits of their chemistry, their devotion, and their love.
Initially, the invitation to The Open Door was a point of contention for Gwen, forcing her insecurities over her post-baby body and her fear that JC didn’t find her attractive anymore, but her view changed quite drastically, seeing it as a way to focus on her and JC, as husband and wife, man and woman, allowing them to revel in a voyeur’s paradise while also reconnecting in ways that haven’t happened since their boys were born.
I love the fact that this happily married couple never allows complacency to enter their marriage, at least to the point that if forces them to live a certain way due to being parents and business owners, and while some husbands and wives would probably look for other more private ways to be together, this club fits Gwen and JC and allow them an avenue to keep pushing their boundaries and experiencing all that the combination of sex and love have to offer.
Gwen and JC are one of my most favorite Laurelin Paige’s couples, so I was thrilled to check in with them and see just how devoted to each other they remain and the things they do to keep their connection just as strong as it was in the beginning.
4 Poison Apples
Utterly Amazing and Deliciously Fantastic!!
If you enjoy The Found Duet of if you haven’t read it yet, not only will you fall in love with the characters, you’ll fall in love with Gwen and JC’s romantic journey!
Incredible romantic, sexy, steamy, emotional and deliciously fantastic, The Open Door is a short novella about keeping the sparks alive in an already passionate marriage.
If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend that you do!
The Open Door story was one kinky ride but also excellent return into Gwen and JC’s relationship. I loved their story in The Found duet books and couldn’t wait to dive into their world once more in The Open Door novella.
We’re heading straight to their happy ever after life in their ordinary married-parenting day to day living.
They were struggling with every day routine so when the mysterious invitation appeared to the “Open Door” events, they saw an opportunity to boost their everyday life.
It was very intense and captivating reading experience. Laurelin Paige wrote the plot with vivid descriptions of the events and surroundings that it was so easy to lose myself in it.
My eyes flew easily through every page author written and once again I was mesmerized by JC and Gwen affection for each other. Together they open up for a new experience which further deepened their intimacy and help them discover new likes. I read this book with my heart constantly at fast pace and little blush creeping up on my cheeks.
There was only one thing I was missing.
Entire story was written from Gwens’ POV and I really wanted to know JC feeling in this scenario but it doesn’t affected my opinion about this book.
I highly recommend it to all fans of The Found duet but also for those who don’t know their story and would like to add a great book to their list.
How do I get an invite? I want in. Jeepers it’s sexy! All manner of kink provided for. And I mean ALL!
Gwen and JC still adore each other. They’re just tired. Three kids does that to you. When an invite to an Open Door party comes their way, they debate it, decide on boundaries and then hop on. Just how far will they go? What a hot sexy adventure.
Seriously, I need an invite. I think my bestie T might be able to help.
It’s oh so delicious. I loved riding the merry go round with them and seeing some familiar faces.
Made me want to have a do-over with JC.
