I really dragged out the reading of this book because I didn’t want the series to be over. I loved it, of course. This series must be one of my favorite ever. I was really interested to see what kind of guy would be the one for Kincaid, and I wasn’t disappointed. I love Ash. They’re so sweet together and now I have a total book hangover.
I’m so late for this review.
This was such a great read. We get everything we love in a RL book! Once you start you won’t stop. Great thought out characters and a plot you fall in love with.
Thank you to NG for a copy of this book.

Kincaid Breslin may have stayed in Longacre, but has doe her best to move beyond the events that defined her final year as a high schooler. As one of the survivors, she has emotional scars from that night – the night that she lost her boyfriend and her best friend.
Ashton Isaacs left Longacre as soon as he could, leaving behind the grief that comes from surviving when his best friend’s boyfriend lost his life. He has other reasons for avoiding his hometown though, reasons that make sense when one peels back the veneer of the perfect household to see the abuse hiding behind the public personas his parents project. Between book contracts and at the end of a live-in relationship, he finds himself returning to Longacre to live with his surrogate parents while he figures out what is next.
Kincaid and Ashton had a bond as kids that severed on prom night and with the aftermath of that tragedy. Now that they are adults, can they bridge the hurt that sent them in different directions? And if they can, how do they handle the past secrets that have been covered up?
This was a second chance in a couple different respects. Both Kincaid and Ash have to face parts of their pasts they have preferred to gloss over. Kincaid has a tendency to move from project to project, and her current project is the biggest she has undertaken. But as she begins making plans, she also finds it might be exactly what she was looking for without even knowing. Ash has avoided Longacre, but he has also spent all this time hiding the fact that he wished he was the one dating Kincaid all those years ago.
I loved watching these two as they worked to put the past behind them once and for all. The bond of their friendship is such that even after all these years apart, there is an ease between them that settles in naturally. It is only as they confront the secrets that their friendship is truly tested and the secrets revealed may just change everything they though.
The One for You by Roni Loren is the fourth and final book in The Ones Who Got Away series. Kincaid Breslin was on the hit list that night at prom. She wasn’t supposed to survive but she did. She doesn’t know why she got a second chance at life when so many others died, including her boyfriend, Graham, the one she feels was her soulmate. She has been determined to live life to the fullest and let no one get in her way. Ashton Isaacs was her best friend since childhood but when she needed him the most, he ran as far away as he could. Now, he’s back in town and Ash doesn’t know how to cope with his feelings for Kincaid and his grief over their lost friendship. He has a secret he knows would tear them apart for good. Does he keep his share for a chance with Kincaid? If the secret comes out, would she see Ash for what he really is: her soulmate?
The One for You was an awesome book to end this series. It was sad to end the journey with these ladies but all good things must come to an end. Kincaid was always the fun-loving one of the group, so to get her story and see her vulnerabilities. The relationship dynamic between Kincaid, Graham, and Ash had a Cyrano de Bergerac feel. I laughed. I cried. I smiled as the stories of the Ones Who Got Away have a happily ever after. I highly recommend The One for You as well as the rest of the books in this amazing series.
The One for You is available in paperback, eBook and audiobook.

A rating. I love this series and this book was the perfect finale for it. Kincaid and Ash were perfect in every way…Perfectly heartbreaking (this is a series FULL of angst and emotion) and perfect together. I loved them.
Highly recommend. This is a series that you can read as stand-alone, but every story is beautifully written. I’ve loved getting to read them.
This series wrecked me-in the best possible way. And The One For You was a great conclusion. That epilogue was basically perfection.
Kincaid has been the most light-hearted character and this was probably the most light book. It’s not lacking in emotion, but I only cried like one and a half times. So, comparatively it was lighter. Kincaid was great. She’s a little flighty, but in a perfectly fun and likable way. She is a typical extrovert and while that exhausts me, you can feel how she gets her energy from others.
Ash was a nice guy. He was an introverted writer, but not socially awkward. I appreciated that. He’s also a caring guy. The story line with his parents was heartbreaking.
The romance had some unrequited love elements which isn’t my favorite trope, but it was handled well. To me, this was more of a friends-to-lovers and second chance romance which I do like. There were some elements from the past that gave me pause, but Ms. Loren handled them so well. I never should’ve doubted her.
Just like the rest of the books, this is spectacular because of the strong friendships between these four ladies. It is no secret that I love great friend groups and found family. This is exactly an example of why.
Even thought these stories are an emotional roller coaster, I want to go back to the beginning and read them all again.
This series has made Roni Loren an auto-buy author for me. Every book in it is absolutely superb. I can barely contain myself waiting for her next release.
My first book of 2019 was The One You Fight For so it seemed fitting to select The One for You as my first book of 2020. I’ve been in love with this series from the very first book — The Ones Who Got Away. I loved how each new book gave me the story of a character (or a couple of characters) I met earlier in the series. I’ll admit I was unsure when I picked up the first book. I’d only ever tried to read two other books that involved a school shooting and I had to nope out of both of them. But the way Roni approached these characters and their stories was nothing short of magnificent. Sure, there’s pain and loss from the past, but it’s the hope of the present and future that connected me with them immediately.
I loved the first three books, but I was anxious for Kincaid’s story. I’m so glad we got it. I don’t like to play favorites when it comes to books in a series, but Kincaid and Ash might be my favorite. Their unrequited love/friends-first romance gave me all the angst and feels. A small word of warning about this book, however. If you’ve read the previous books, you know there isn’t a lot of the past on the page. At least from the night of the shooting, at any rate. That… wasn’t the case in The One for You. It wasn’t glorified and I thought the story benefitted from having it, but it did take my breath away. I sat reading with tears streaming down my face. I wasn’t expecting to watch it play out in detail. It added a whole other level to my experience.
The end of a series is always bittersweet and The One for You was no exception. It was maybe even more bittersweet because of the overall story in the series. I got to know these characters and watch as they learned to deal with the past and move forward as survivors. It was beautiful. Each book tugged at my heartstrings. But this one probably more than the others combined. Especially when it came to the epilogue. I cried like a baby. I tear up just thinking about it months later. I wasn’t really ready to say goodbye to these characters, but I can’t think of a better way to do it. This book brought a beautiful close to a unique, emotional and hopeful series.
Favorite Quotes:
“I wanted a world with both of you in it. Turns out, I ended up with one that has neither.”
“Hope is the thing that hurts the most. It’s the thing that makes people make plans even though we have almost no control over whether that plan comes true.”
“You sure you’re not going to get tired of me? I’ve heard I’m best in small doses.”
“I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life. You, my love, are best in really big, superintense, lifelong doses.”
“We weren’t ready for each other then. We wouldn’t be the people we are now if we had gotten together so young. We would have messed it up. You needed to get the idiotic cowboys out of your system to realize bookish dorks are totally where it’s at.”
I can’t believe we’re to the end of the series. It’s definitely been a tear jerker of a series but with amazing HEA’s. I loved that this couple were previously friends (actually BFF’s throughout their childhood prior to the tragedy …always giving each other comfort through the difficult times while growing up). Their 2nd chance had a lot of rocky roads and twists and turns to get through but it all worked out so great in the end. With an amazing cast of characters and a great storyline… I highly recommend this entire series!!
I haven’t read all the books in this series and I plan on going back and reading the rest. This series is based on an awful event that brought this group of friends together for the anniversary of the school shooting they survived.
I love childhood friends romances. Kincaid puts on a good front of letting others think she’s the most ok. She is doing her best to move on with her life. Aston is a sexy book nerd who has always had feeling for Kincaid. He tries to be what she needs at the time and puts his feelings on the back burner.
I enjoyed watching these two come together. Roni Loren has done a fantastic job with these books. I imagine it was hard to write about such a hard subject, but she done an amazing job writing these stories.
Series is very good.
The storyline was well written and the characters were so well created that as I turned the pages Kincaid and Ashton pulled me right into their journey as it effortlessly unfolded!
4.5 Stars! I’m really sad this series is at an end. I grabbed the first book because Colleen Hoover told me to and I wasn’t expecting the gravity of the series. Kincaid was always the fun one, but her story broke my heart. She was the bubbly friend who looked like she had no cares in the world, but inside she was so broken. Ashton was her best friend that left her right after the school shooting. Leaving her with the grief of a lost boyfriend and the loss of her best friend. She had a huge hole in her heart where her soul mate should have been. I realized the twist in the story early on and knew Ash was in love with her and was trying in vain to pretend to be okay without her. The guilt that Ash felt about what happened the night of the shooting and after, had him weighed down for years. I am so happy that the two of them actually TALKED through things. I wish it would have happened earlier in the book though. It was the perfect ending.
The One For You by Roni Loren was an emotional second chance romance. This is the first book I have read in the series, but not the last. I am looking forward to going back to the beginning. I have to say I was not actually aware what this series was about until I dove in and the feels are huge in this one. Friends who were devasted in one of the worst ways possible. How do they move on, let go or even learn to live again?
I was captivated from the start. Kincaid Breslin and Ashton Isaacs had so much history and not all of it good. Ashton has always had feelings for Kincaid but hid them because her heart belonged to another. Can Kincaid finally see Ashton with different eyes? When Ashton comes back old hurt feelings and new ones come to light. Can they find a way to each other?
Happy reading!
Beautifully emotional story touching on several sensitive and relative subjects Roni Loren brings out the beauty in some of that pain.
Kincaid Breslin and Ashton Isaacs were friends from childhood but Ashton was always in love with Kincaid she didn’t realize until they were grown ups…For both of them this grown up love may bring up to many painful memories and scripts from the past for it to work.
Such an incredible read kudos to Roni!
I honestly love this series from Roni Loren. It blends what has unfortunately become a common tragedy into a sweet love story. Highly recommend!

REVIEW:
(Friends to lovers done right!)
First I’ll say, this series is amazing. Loved meeting the characters and getting to know their personalities throughout (all) their ups and downs. Hurts. Despair. Also, I started this series haven’t read a single book from this author. Safe to say I’m a new fan and will definitely read more from her in the future.
That said, on to the story….
We meet Kincaid and Ash; the perfect couple to seal this final installment. Truths about their pasts are revealed; devastation that rocked both their worlds. In a sense, they relive their open wounds all over again and try to navigate back to common ground. Or at least a safe place. Not hard to do when they’re each other’s safe place. Both overcoming obstacles that have rocked their core–they’re easily the couple you love. The coupling you root for. They made sense and wasn’t too far-fetched to seem real. They felt…real. And I didn’t want their story to end. Do yourself a favor and grab yourself a copy. You won’t regret it!
I’ve read 2 of the books in this series and enjoyed both of them, and was anxious to read Kincaid’s story from the moment we met her. This series deals with characters who’ve had to cope with a school shooting and it’s done in a very compassionate way. This was another intense, emotional read for me, but a very enjoyable one too. Very unique storyline and a plot that is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
4.25 stars–THE ONE FOR YOU is the fourth instalment in Roni Loren’s contemporary, adult THE ONES WHO GOT WAY erotic, romance series focusing on the survivors of a mass shooting the night of their senior prom-Finn Dorsey, Olivia Arias, Rebecca Lindt, Taryn Landry, Ashton Isaacs and Kincaid Breslin. This is real estate agent Kincaid Breslin, and writer Ashton Isaacs’ story line. THE ONE FOR YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order, or at the very least book one, for backstory and cohesion as the details about what happened are revealed in THE ONES WHO GOT AWAY.
Told from present day and memories of the past, using several third person perspectives including Ash and Kincaid THE ONE FOR YOU follows the former friends to lover relationship between real estate agent Kincaid Breslin, and writer Ashton Isaacs.
Fourteen years earlier, following the mass shooting at their high school prom, Kincaid would lose her boyfriend Graham Lowell, and Ashton would lose his best friend, and the woman he loved. Grief, guilt and unrequited love played a major role in Ashton Isaacs decision to leave Long Acre to pursue his dream of becoming a writer in New York but Ashton never forgot about the woman who called to his heart. Fast forward to present day, wherein Ashton would return to Long Acre in an effort to rediscover his muse in the wake of finding his fiancé with another man but a return to Long Acre came with too many memories of the past including the woman he still loved. Enter Kincaid Breslin, real estate agent. What ensues is the rebuilding friendship and relationship between Ash and Kincaid, and the potential fall-out when Ashton reveals the truth, as he knows it, about the day everything went to h*ll.
Kincaid Breslin believes she lost her soul mate the night of the Long Acre prom fourteen years earlier but the return of Ashton Isaacs brought back feelings Kincaid struggled to recall. Having both suffered at the hands of emotionally and physically abusive parents, Kincaid and Ashton became one another’s sole support in an effort to survive, one day at a time.
The relationship between Kincaid and Ash is one of former friends to lovers whose lives were torn apart by betrayal and hatred, and one man’s struggle to move on from his past. Kincaid believes Ash is too quick to run but Ash knew to remain in Long Acre, meant the possibility of losing everyone, all over again. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of the previous couples plays secondary and supporting roles including Liv and Finn (The Ones Who Got Away #1), Rebecca and Wes (the One you Cant Forget #2 ), Taryn Landry and Shaw Miller (The One You Fight For #3), as well as Graham’s parents Charlie and Grace Lowell.
The world building continues to focus on the struggle to move forward after the devastating mass shooting at the Long Acre High School. Kincaid battles between head and heart fearing the destruction of the memory of the boy she once loved; and Ash knows that the secrets he hides may destroy the woman he loves.
THE ONE FOR YOU is a story of second chances; of forgiveness and love; of friendship, family and moving forward. The premise is heart breaking, engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are colorful, broken, energetic but strong.
The One For You like the previous books was an emotional one. I’ve been waiting for Kincaid’s book and so happy that it was well worth the wait. Hers was a story of secrets and lies but most importantly love and the many forms in which it takes. I loved Kincaid and Ash, they were the perfect complement to each other. I loved their journey, it wasn’t easy, it was far from pretty but it was beautiful. I truly enjoyed this book and series and highly recommend to all.
