Perfect! I’ve volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from Corinne Michaels. This is the third book for The Arrowood Brothers series. This is Sean and Devney’s story. They have always been best friends since they were six years old. After finding out that there’s a good chance that Devney’s boyfriend will asks her to marry him. Sean decides that it’s now or never to let Devney know how he feels about her. The character development in this book is amazing, Sean is so sweet and determined. Deveny always knew that she loved Sean, but is just figuring out that she is in love with him. Sean and Devney will totally steal your hearts, just like it did to mines. Just when you think that you know what is going to happen, yet another curveball is thrown to keep you guessing. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Keep up the amazing work!
Y’all this is off the charts amazing!!! Sean is my new absolute favorite!! This whole series is remarkable but he is my favorite brother!!!
This can be a standalone.. but all the brothers together fits read them all!
Wow! This book had me feeling everything! It had me swooning for Sean, who was in love with his best friend, Devney. It had me cheering for Devney, who was so strong. She overcame the fallout from a past mistake, and was always there for her family. I loved the loyalty among Sean and his brothers. It was clear they would do anything for each other without even questioning why. I had my heart torn apart, then pieced back together. All through the book, I was always rooting for Devney and Sean. I hoped they would find a way to be together without giving up on their dreams or their families. Another reason I, and probably others I’m sure, have dubbed Corinne Michaels, “Queen of the Feels”.
Book 3 of The Arrowood series doesn’t disappoint. First came Connor, then Declan, and now Sean…. Jacob, you have some big shoes to fill.
I’ve loved each of the books in the series but Sean is definitely my fave brother, so far. The hints I’ve seen about Jacob indicate he may be up there with Sean. We’ll see…
The story of Sean and Devyn is a friend’s to lovers story. I loved seeing their relationship blossom. With such a solid base, it’s no wonder they were able to have their HEA though they did have a couple things to overcome.
I loved seeing some familiar characters pop up too. Corinne does not disappoint. She is one of my fave authors to read; she always manages to pull out the emotions. Now to anxiously wait for Jacob’s story. December can’t get here soon enough.
Devney Maxwell and Sean Arrowood were introduced to us in books one and two of the Arrowood series by Corinne Michaels and are our hero and heroine in book three, The One for Me. I’ve read everything every written by this author, and Corinne once again made me cry, gasp for air, laugh out loud, and swoon, in this romantic drama set in Sugarloaf, a farming community near Allentown, PA.
All four Arrowood brothers (Connor, Declan, Sean and Jacob) must each return home for a six month stretch to live on the property and work the land their parents owned in order to inherit it after their father passed. Navy Seal Connor was first and found love with Ellie, and Declan and Sydney, a local attorney, followed in book two.
I don’t want to give away any secrets, because this book is filled with them, but this arrangement has brought them closer than ever and is just the closure they need to each find happiness and make peace with the past. His family makes regular appearances in the book as does Devney’s parents, brother and sister-in-law and her 9-year-old nephew, Austin. Also for fans of this author, she drops us an Easter egg with the hunky Hennington brothers, And I basically screamed like I was at a rock concert.
I loved and looked forward to all of the interactions of this very relatable and loveable family and their friends, especially when they gave their perspective and advice, commiserated, and participated in good old fashioned sibling ribbing.
Devney is guarded and protective, holding a deeply rooted secret of her own and the strain of her relationship with her mother made her tense to the core. She is so sweet and hardworking, dedicated to her family and friends, and so down to earth. She’s not materialistic and finds pleasure in the simple things in life, especially spending time with Sean.
Devney and Sean have been friends since childhood, and after living separate lives since college, reconnect in a deeply personal way when it’s his turn to live on the land. It was like no time had passed as they both needed each other. I loved how he would say, “I’ve got you,” or “I won’t let you fall,” and so many other beautiful endearments. They are both nearing 30 years of age, have been in relationships before, but have never found “the one,” mainly because others never measured up to what their heart already knows…that they belong together.
Sean is a book hero like no other! He’s hot and handsome, strong and patient, compassionate, generous, unpretentious, and so darn loveable! Their sexy times are super steamy and special because of their history and being in love. He’s a professional catcher in the major leagues, living and playing for Tampa, FL, and fights like heck to get Devney to choose a life with him after professing his love in so many swoony ways.
I have to admit, the only part of the book I did not like was a choice she made regarding their relationship. I can’t say more because it will give away spoilers, but wish she made a different decision supporting his career as a pro ball player which would only have lasted a few more years at best.
Devney is reluctant for a reason and so much happens! The writing makes you feel as if you are there, feeling all their heartache and pain, especially when they suffer an enormous loss which changes the course of their entire future. Corinne writes books that make you cry so hard the pages blur and you feel it straight into your heart. The writing flows effortlessly and will keep you engaged the entire time. Loved their journey as best friends to lovers! Bring on Jacob!
Can I give it more than 5 stars??? What a fantastic read…I whipped through this like a hot knife through butter. I think I might have to read it again because I love Sean sooooo much! Still a close second to the dreamy-not-to-be believed Liam but man, Sean definitely hits all the right spots and how he loves Devney, well, this is what book boyfriends are made for! The Arrowood brothers are simply not to be missed and you will need tissues (again) for this one, so be at the ready to laugh, cry, laugh and cry again! Thanks for tearing out my heart again Ms Corinne…but in a fantastic way! You don’t want to miss this great read and it will not feel like 400 pages…you will feel like it slips by to fast! Going back in for a re read right now! Thank you thank you thank you! Great book, great feels and great writing!!! A spectacular 5 star read, AGAIN! FIVE STARS
Wow just wow, Corinne Michaels does it again with Sean and Deveny friends to lover’s story. In classic Corinne Michaels’s story with a great history, characters, and love story.
Sean and Deveny have been best friends since they where children – and probably have been in love almost just as long. Then when Sean has to come home to stay on his family farm for 6 months things all the sudden change for them and their relationship. As they try to find their way in their new relationship dynamic Deveny’s life changes in a drastic way that could break what Sean and Deveny have found.
Ms. Michaels does a fantastic job driving the story of the Arrowood brothers forward with Sean and Deveny’s story. Told in dual POV’s we get both sides of the story something I feel is really needed for this story in particular. We also not only get to catch up with the Arrowood’s we also get some fantastic cameos across the board from other Corinne Michaels stories – something I absolutely loved. It was a great escape and so worth the time.
This book…Let me describe how this book made me feel. Imagine me holding a piece of paper out in front of me. Now imagine me crumpling that piece of paper between my hands. And NOW imagine the awesome author Corrine Michaels taking that piece of paper from my hands and smoothing out every wrinkle and every fold then hands it to me with a smile and says “Sorry…” That is what this book did to my heart. So many ups and downs. A friends-to-lovers story that beat me up and put me back together again.
Sean and Devney are childhood best friends. Over the years, they had lost their connection. Now Sean is back in Sugarloaf. A place he swore he would never come back to. The benefit of returning to Sugarloaf? Seeing Deveny. Theirs was a friendship that was unconditional. They have each other in any type of scenario and that’s what is so beautiful about their relationship. I loved everything about it. How deep and caring and unconditional it was. Yes, they had their rough patches but through it all they always had each other’s back and best interest at hear.
This book may have played with my heart but gave me all the feels and made me fall more in love with the Arrowood brothers and the fine citizens of Sugarloaf.
OMG! Sean is my new favorite of the Arrowood brother. This can be read alone but if you follow the Arrowood brother’s series you know that the brothers reluctantly came back to Sugarloaf after their father died. They supposed to tidy up the farm and eventually sale it. Each brother has to spend 6 months there. It’s Sean’s turn. Sean and Devney have been best friends since they were children. Like his other brothers, Sean left town as soon as he could to play professional baseball. When Sean came back, it’s like no time has passed at all. Sean and Devney picked up right where they left off … best friends that is … or is it way more? I really love Sean – such a strong, caring, sweet, charming hero. The way he bonds and coaches his nephew is super cute. Devney is sweet, kind, hardworking. I love how she is close with her family and friends. Devney’s life changed quite a bit since Sean left Sugarloaf. She has a little secret and she needs to come clean before they have any chance of happiness. Sean and Devney have been secretly in love with each other but they are stubborn and hellbent on keep the “best friend” card close. One kiss changed it all. Sean has eventually go back to baseball and Devney has to stay in Sugarloaf. How would it works? I really enjoy this friends-to-lovers romance. These two have awesome chemistry – physically but emotionally they are connected in a kindred spirit kind of way. This one is an emotional, inspiring, heartwarming love story. Beautifully written.
So, what to say in this review? Nothing much besides that it’s one of the best so far of what I’ve read on friends-to-lovers trope (friends since childhood!), small town romance for this year. It’s so much more than its trope/ genre. The story has laughter, all the warm fuzzies of strong family ties, drama, tension and sexy moments. Oh, how I love Sean’s way of pursuing Devney! He is determined, naughty and his flirtations will surely put a blush on your cheeks. I thought I was way past that stage, but no, this certain Arrowood brother made me feel like the school girl that I was. There were twists and turns in the story that I didn’t see coming. I laughed, cried, fell in love, and rooted for these two to work things out. Overall, quite an enjoyable addition to the series and can’t wait for the last Arrowood brother, Jacob, to get his HEA.
Favorite Quotes:
Jacob is my best man. Picking between my brothers wasn’t easy, but Jacob just felt right. Plus, it might be the closest that man gets to an altar.
I’m not a woman. They’re odd creatures who want weird things.
My Review:
Sizzle and snap, this emotive small-town, family drama, friends to lovers romance was a hot and angsty tale peppered with snarky banter, amusing humor, and demoralizing secrets and histories. The overall tone of the storylines strived for balance between the heaping servings of angst and welcomed levity, yet there was quite a bit more of the tedium of conflict and stubborn denial than the buoyancy of a new relationship. Written in my favorite dual POV, the plot was laced together with generous updates on and interactions with the previously featured and much-beloved characters in the series. There is only one more brother left yet to spend his required time on the farm to meet the conditions of their vile father’s will and I’m already curious.
Can we say Swoon? Sean will steal your heart, Devneys past will Hurt, but the tragedy of it all will break your heart. Imagine how Sean and Devney are feeling.
This was such a great book. I couldn’t put it down… all the Arrowood brothers make an appearance, and give much needed comedy relief. This book will break your heart, make it laugh, and cry, and put it all back together again…. enjoy….
Friends-to-lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes because there’s an established connection between the hero and the heroine – one that has weathered a variety of changes and endured the good and bad times together. And it’s clear from the start of The One For Me that Sean Arrowhead and Devney Maxwell are destined to be more than friends; they just need to figure it out for themselves, before they lose something that could be so good for both of their lives – love and devotion.
Sean Arrowhead just might be my favorite brother and one of the main reasons is because he loves with his whole heart and those who matter to him understand just how he feels about them with every word he says and every action he takes. He truly is the complete package…the ultimate book boyfriend and the Arrowhead brother who will make readers swoon and envy the woman who holds his heart.
Throughout the story, Devney illustrates just how selfless she is…how strong and grounded she works to be, and even though it’s not completely clear why she decided to let her dreams of leaving Sugarloaf lay dormant, what is obvious is that she’s willing to do whatever it takes, sacrificing whatever needs to be sacrificed to allow those she loves to flourish.
Because Sean and Devney’s connection began when they were kids and continued to build as they grew up, they started with a solid foundation of friendship – one that was difficult to move on from, even if they both secretly wanted more from each other because they felt like there was too much to lose. But slowly, they started to get on the same page and despite a few bumps along the way, what they’re starting to feel for each other isn’t something they should let go of anytime soon.
Corinne Michaels writes emotional romance – stories that deal with the highs and lows and the ups and downs of life…books that teach lessons about love, sacrifice and commitment. And every time I pick up one of Michaels’ books, I know what I experience through her words and her characters is something worthwhile, something that will have my emotions in a state of flux, wondering how she plans to give her hero and heroine the happily ever after they deserve. And her Arrowhead Brothers series is must read romance and my favorite books in her entire collection of stories. I just can’t get enough of these Arrowhead men.
4.5 Poison Apples
Another fabulous read from Corinne Michaels. A sexy, swoony friends-to-lovers romance with a whole bunch of feels. I’ve loved every book in this series so far, and this one is no exception.
Sean and Devney have been best friends since forever. They have a solid foundation, so the hesitation is understandable. But I love that Sean goes for it, knowing that they have something special. Devney has had a rather traumatic past, and doesn’t want to lose one of the most important people in her life.
Their journey is filled with love and laughter, heartache and hope. It’s beautiful.
Do yourself a favor and read this book, read this whole series.
4.5 stars
The One for Me from Corinne Michaels is one heck of an emotional friends to lovers story! Sean and Devney have been best friends for years, always having the other’s back no matter what. Deep down, they both love one another as more than friends…….but haven’t been able to admit that or entertain thoughts of anything more happening between them, until now when Sean returns to Sugarloaf for his six-month stint at the farm. One night filled with lots of drinks – and one hot kiss – changes everything between them and they are forced to face their feelings for each other. Do they risk it all to be with the only person who truly knows their heart and soul? Or will secrets they both hold deep be too much to overcome?
These Arrowood brothers……oh man, do they know how to make a girl swoon. Sean definitely followed in his brother’s footsteps, and I can’t wait to see what Jacob brings to the table in the final book of the series!
The Arrowood Brothers have absolutely buried themselves deep within my heart, and Sean only deepen my love for them!! What an amazing set of brothers!! The One for Me the one for me took me on one of the most beautiful rides I have read in a long time. Sean and Deveney are absolutely perfect together. Their road to their happily ever after was not paved with roses, but these two once they realized they were it for each other, although they took a lot of convincing to get there, esp. Deveney, but her hesitation was completely understandable, these two fought for each other and their love. Honestly, Corinne Michaels could not have chosen a more perfect title for their story. They truly were the each other’s other half, since only Sean could make Deveney whole, and only Deveney could make Sean whole.
The One for Me is such a beautifully told story and Corinne Michaels’ writing will have you swooning over this friends to lovers romance, but most especially over Sean, from the moment you open the book. And what a fighter Deveney is!! She has been through so much and she has made plenty of mistakes, but she owns it all. And like Deveney, although he is now a famous baseball player, Sean has been thrown many punches in his life that would have destroyed and hardened a lesser man, but not Sean. And let me just say that I love Austin. What a great kid he is!!
So, if you are looking for a story with wonderful characters, a small town romance, good friends and family, and witty dialogue, The One for Me is the perfect read. Corinne Michaels has far exceeded herself in telling Sean and Deveney’s story. Not only did we get Sean and Deveney, but we also got to catch up with our other favorite characters from this series and others in The One for Me. I cannot wait for Jacob’s story. Bravo, Corinne Michaels on yet another fantastic read!!!
I loved this book so much. I’m so glad Sean did not give up on their relationship. I loved their chemistry. This book had me crying. I loved seeing some characters from previous series.
I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.
Well hellooooo friends to romance trope! I love this trope. It’s like catnip for me. In this case we have the third Arrowood brother, Sean, and his best friend, Devney. Sean has come back for his obligatory six month stay and while he’s home, he is determined to win Devney’s heart. This is totally a case of he has feelings for her and she has feelings for him, but neither are willing to admit it. Sean has his life as a professional baseball player and Devney is content with living at home, close to her loved ones. So of course it seems complicated and it’s up to the both of them to figure things out.
As I was reading this I thought to myself, “Huh, well I haven’t cried yet, so maybe I can get away with this one” and then like two chapters later….BAM! For real y’all….I cried. Like a lot. Corinne loves to just rip our hearts out. Luckily she is really good at repairing what she injured.
This book was a good addition to the Arrowood series and in it we get to see a familiar face as well as some names that readers will be familiar with. Now give me Jacob’s story!
Corinne Michaels is one of those author’s the nail every single book they put out and The One for Me was no different! These Arrowood men just keep getting better and better with everyone of their books. Sean has absolutely stolen my heart with this book. I don’t think we could of gotten a more loving, sweet and caring alpha then Sean. He might even put Connor and Declan to shame and that’s saying something. I really felt for Devney through out this book. I really wasn’t sure what she was hiding behind but when we eventually find out I really felt for her and everything she had to go through. I loved how these two were there for each other as children and adults and even as secrets came out. I just loved reading these two together they really shared something special and it really came out on the pages. This is one book you won’t want to put down! Go one click this now!
Amazing Story and continuation of those Arrowood Brothers! I loved Sean and Deveny’s story!
A Friends to lovers story could not have been written any better than this one! The friendship these two had while never crossing the line.. dating other people.. I absolutely LOVED both of their personalities.. Loved them!!
He’s a famous Baseball player while she gave up her dreams to stay in Sugarloaf..
Both have always told each other everything.. or so they thought..
When that line gets crossed.. and secrets come out..
Corinne keeps you on the edge of your seat..
