A simple DNA test is all it takes. Just a quick mouth swab and soon you’ll be matched with your perfect partner—the one you’re genetically made for.
That’s the promise made by Match Your DNA. A decade ago, the company announced that they had found the gene that pairs each of us with our soul mate. Since then, millions of people around the world have been matched. But the discovery has its downsides: test results have led to the breakup of countless relationships and upended the traditional ideas of dating, romance and love.
Now five very different people have received the notification that they’ve been “Matched.” They’re each about to meet their one true love. But “happily ever after” isn’t guaranteed for everyone. Because even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking than others…
A word-of-mouth hit in the United Kingdom, The One is a fascinating novel that shows how even the simplest discoveries can have complicated consequences.

An original plot and premise.
The theme of this book is so realistic. A bit scary but extremely interesting theme.
This book is based on the premise that analyzing one’s DNA allows for identifying a the person who is their true Match (The One). The success rate in relationships based on the Match is extremely high; much higher than that for individuals not Matched.
The main story shifts between four couples who have had Match testing done. These couple must overcome geographic differences, their current relationships, and fear of the unknown when attempting to meet their Match.
The book was very entertaining, and while not a gripping thriller IMO, was hard to put down. Four stars only because I thought a bit more could have been done with the plot.
Just loved it! New twist to an interesting subject.
I liked the very unusual plot. The concept of using science to find one’s soulmate is a very original idea, and I enjoyed this book very much.
Interesting read about DNA matching. Written as several unrelated character stories. A little bit sci-fi with a bit of a zany quasi-romantic twist in each character’s story. Reminded me of one of the latest stories in The Black Mitrot TV series.
Lots of twists and turns. Wasn’t a favorite, but was a good read.
Clever, original idea. Plausible and futuristic, Had difficulty putting it down.
Already did
A great rainy day read! I couldn’t put it down. Interesting premise. What would happen if you could find your soul mate through a DNA test? Story was very interesting, from four different characters perspectives. A little expected towards the end, but definitely some great twists and turns. You won’t wont to stop once you start reading.
Not what I thought it would be. Kept my interest level up. Would recommend.
Very interesting topic- gives you lots to think about even when finushed reading!
Loved this book! So many surprises I didn’t see coming! I read it in a day (and night).
Wow!!!! This was a great surprise! I did not expect to like this book as much as I did. This book is really 5 amazing, intriguing stories in one. It’s not unrealistic and it really makes you think! I really enjoyed all the different characters and did not see the ending coming!!!!
Interesting fun premise became less interesting as the story progressed. The surprise twists became more predictable as the story developed. I enjoyed the early parts of the book and would have given it more stars if I stopped reading it half way through. As the book reached the end the characters and the plots grew tedious. Fun beach read, instantly forgettable.
This book was dumb——-the idea intrigued and I was excited to read this book….very disappointed could have been so much better.
Good read
