In the shadows of the towers, your only hope is to scavenge for the truth…
One hundred and fifty years after the earth was ravaged by war, the two self-sustaining towers built by OmniLab continue to offer a safe haven for those who paid the hefty price to assure their family’s survival. But on the surface, there are others who have survived over the years struggling to barter and trade artifacts found within the ruins of the crumbling cities in exchange for critical supplies.
When Kayla, a ruin rat skilled in computer hacking and scavenging, discovers a strange artifact known as The Aurelia Data Cube, she finds herself inadvertently caught up in a series of events that threatens the lives of the mysterious and elusive people within OmniLab.
Carl, an unorthodox negotiator with a head for business, is determined to eradicate the corruption amongst his OmniLab brethren and has no qualms about using Kayla to do it. Unfortunately, he wasn’t counting on the vastness of the corruption or his own feelings for the headstrong woman who turns his life upside down.
Caught between the life she knew and a dangerous world that’s claimed her as their own, Kayla learns the fearful truth behind just how far one man will go to obtain power and how far she’ll go to survive.
Shadow of the Coalition (Book 2)
Only in the darkness can vengeance thrive…
It’s been a month since Kayla, a headstrong ruin rat, and Carl, an OmniLab trader, returned to the surface. After she helped to restore control of the towers to those who would look after the best interests of the people, she’d found herself irrevocably bonded to Alec, the new co-leader of the High Council.
Although her heart belongs to Carl, she finds it difficult to resist the strange bond between her and Alec. Caught between learning how to handle her new emerging abilities, mysterious earthquakes, and a strange group seemingly intent on targeting OmniLab, Kayla is once again swept up in events that threaten to change the entire future of the towers.
Tremors of the Past (Book 3)
Sometimes searching within yourself can reveal a more painful truth…
Someone is trying to kill Kayla Rath’Varein—again.
The Omni Towers are more dangerous than ever to the self-proclaimed ruin rat. With the instability in the towers reaching a crescendo and perils lurking in every corridor, Kayla needs to find out who is responsible and stop them before they succeed in ending her life.
But when the man she loves is abducted and the lives of her former campmates are threatened, Kayla is forced to decide between launching a daring rescue attempt or protecting the lives of everyone within the towers. As her past and present collide, Kayla quickly learns that whatever path she chooses will forever change the course of her future and the fate of the Omni Towers.

The Omni Towers Boxed Set (Books 1-3) by Jamie A. Waters is an amazing box set that I have loved reading. This is an amazing box set and I can not wait to read the next box set 4-6 in this series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about fantasy.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
THIS SET IS AMAZING! IT seriously made me put my life ON HOLD. I’ll leave my review for each individual book here.
***Beneath the Fallen City, Book 1***
This is the kind of book that swoops in and restores my faith in the arts. In a dull, dull world where everyone is just putting their own spin on things that already exist and trying to make a buck, Waters comes in and gives us a whole new world to get lost into.
Beneath the Fallen City has complex characters who will prompt all kinds of emotions; some you’ll love, others you’ll love to hate. Others, you might even go back and forth on as more details emerge or they show their true colors.
I had resorted to re-reading old favorites like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games when I really need an escape, another world to get lost in. With this series, I won’t be needing to revisit past reads for a while. The reader gets a world that, while foreign, has plenty we can still relate to and dive right into. Nothing needs further explanation; it’s all made to make perfect sense and be comprehensible, without any long-winded or far-fetched explanations.
There’s action and fighting and various types of drama from romantic to vengeful to plain old greed and there’s adventure; all of it has a bit of a paranormal aspect, but nothing inconceivable. There’s some good versus bad or right versus wrong, but not in the same old, done-to-death way we always see. The reader is also treated to a love triangle of sorts, but not the usual, been-done-to-death type. I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just say it’s well done, really fun and I definitely have my steady favorite to root for.
Every time I stepped away from this book, all I wanted to do was get back to it. Not much holds my attention these days, let along sucks me in this extremely anymore. It’s so refreshing.
Also, if you want a good, strong female lead or role model, Kayla is a total badass. Read it, buy it for your daughters, nieces, etc. as that front is also covered. Carl is a good male role model, while we’re on the topic: a guy with good intentions and a pure heart. I feel like there is something for everyone to relate to in this complex, action-packed, adventure-filled read.
5 stars. I wouldn’t change a thing.
***Shadow of the Coalition, Book 2***
Book 2 in Waters’ The Omni Towers series picks up right where book 1 left off. Kayla’s having a tough time, there’s unrest in the towers, so much cause for drama!
Waters’ character development is brilliant; I sort of hated Alec at the end of book 1, but not long into book 2, it’s clear he has pretty pure intentions. At least, I think he does. Clearly, I’m a little undecided still, but I no longer hate him. It’s basically impossible to hold onto my hate and I’m forced to keep an open mind. I applaud Waters’ writing style for making me stop and think, and I’ll just continue in the series and enjoy the ride.
There’s no shortage of drama, as you can see.
There is action, romance, heat, deception, adventure, mystery… what doesn’t this book have?
It does not end on a cliffhanger but I did need to start book 3 right away. I just can’t get enough of this world.
I read an ARC, but can still state that the manuscript is pretty clean so it’s safe to say this book is well-edited and proofed.
Character development is extraordinary. Water uses actions and other characters’ descriptives to get strong personality traits across, her various players really do have distinctly different voices. This is hard to come by in fiction.
This series is truly a gem that I recommend everyone read. I would not change a thing.

***Tremors of the Past, Book 3***
I couldn’t put down books 1 & 2 in this series and when I finished 2, I had to go right into 3. My life was basically been put on hold for a couple days while I read this one, 3 because there was just no stopping. This series has gotten like a drug and so much else is now on hold while I try to devour it.
It’s really good. This one’s packed with action (some shrouded in mystery still), Kayla’s schemes to get around Alec, still the love triangle but it gets resolved in this one eventually, acts of war, actual war, drama, big revelations, and more. There’s also fierce loyalty, love of all types.
I read an ARC but can still testify that the manuscript is quite clean.
Formatting is clean as well and character development remains brilliantly advanced and on point. Continuity is perfect.
And Waters keeps it real; she works feels and romance into the most inopportune times but still manages to keep it real.
Waters may have been born to write. I’d love to see this series come alive on the screen; what an exciting television series it could be!
5 stars
This was a wonderful book. It didn’t seem rushed. This was sweet and steamy, full of romance and passion with great characters that were interesting enough to draw you in.
Our heroine is a scavenger living in the shadow of OmniTowers, literally beneath their notice. That is until she discovers something that could bring the towers down. Suddenly she has more attention than she wants.
This is a collection of the first three books in the series, hence an excellent place to start. The stories are very well written and easy to read, each with a fast paced plot that features action, intrigue, and lots of surprises which keep our heroine and the reader guessing as to what comes next. The setting is well developed with a lot of detail that is explored over the course of these books. Similarly, our characters also have good depth to them. Our heroine is one tough lady, smart and resourceful, just the kind of heroine that I like to read about. Overall, this collection provided lots of good entertainment value and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
Highly recommended.

Oh my! This is such a fantastic, wonderfully written series! This is a three-book set of the first three books in the Omni Towers series, centering primarily on Kayla’s story, although this author also added several other amazing characters, some of which I hope will be expanded on in the next three books. Great world-building and awesome characters! I could not put these books down. I’m definitely ready to read more from this author.
