As a pastor’s wife, I appreciate the sometimes wacky situations these ministers often end up in. Ours is a very small congregation, however, so I’m really enjoying learning about what goes on behind the scenes of a huge church with multiple staff members. Great , uplifting story!
I like the faith shown in this book. I do not like the tone used about women. It’s fairly stereotypical and somewhat negative..
This book starts out a little slow, but so worth the read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the inside workings of a large church and all those stories behind it. And the thoughts and trials of the newest pastor and how he grows into his responsibilities. There is a little bit of a mystery to be solved as well. Good, Good read! I’ve read the …
A good book by an author who doesn’t disappoint
Loved all The Elmo Books.
I really enjoyed it.
Laugh out loud funny.
Enjoyed the characters
This was the first book I read by Mr. Moody & I thoroughly enjoyed it; he has a very keen sense of humor. His characters are down to earth & very likeable (most of them!). While it would’ve been helpful to read them in order for context, not having done so didn’t detract from the story or my enjoyment at all. As a matter of fact I finished the …
a fun quick read
Learned a lot about being a christian from ‘the old man’.
Actually, I had to keep coming back to this book until I got almost to the end. I’m so glad I did!
Elmo is an associate pastor who is honest with himself, his wife and his church. I was unfamiliar with the rest of the books in this series and found myself saying “What is this book about and where is it going?”
He meets an old saint at the coffee …
There were so many characters that it was hard to keep them straight.
It kept me entranced.
This is a very easy read with a good message. It might be better to read the first book in this series before reading this one.
“Mitford” fans would like this book–indeed, the full series. A younger minister, interesting story line, witty presentation, with some good moral lessons interspersed.
This book is so inspirational and fun. It’s a look into the life of a church from a new minister’s perspective. It makes the reader stop and consider how things are done as well as how our relationships are developed in the church. A great read!
A very enjoyable series. I became very attached with the characters. I identified with a lot of the situations in our own church.
Good interesting Christian book.
I sort of guessed the ending, but it was fun.
