A beautiful young woman is thrown together with a rakish Viscount by a twist of fate and is caught off guard by her own yearning for love and passion in this historical romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter. When Sabrina Eversleigh ran away from home to escape the abusive hands of her new brother-in-law, she quickly ended up stranded in a blizzard. She would surely … blizzard. She would surely have died if not for Phillip Mercerault, who rescues her and nurses her back to health. But Sabrina soon learns Phillip is not a hero. Instead, he’s a gentleman who has compromised a lady. Now there’s only one thing left for him to do—marry her.
But Sabrina turns him down, leaving him completely baffled. However, things don’t turn out quite the way Sabrina planned, and it is she, then, who must propose, sweetening the pot with a big dowry and an offer of freedom for Phillip. But what’s a husband to do when he knows his bride is afraid of men?

First of all, I did enjoy the book. But the main characters were so aggravating I sometimes had to put the book down for a while until my I could read without yelling out loud. The hero, Philip, turned into a complete and total ass as soon as he and the heroine (Sabrina) got married. Leaving her on their wedding night to go to his mistress?! That’s only the beginning of the hypocritical and emotionally abusive crap he piles on her. All the while she continues to love him so and accept his “freedom” excuses. He’s so kind and noble – such a crock! I was so pissed off at him I had to stop reading for a while to cool off. There was little depth to these characters, or at least it was not expanded upon by the author. They just kind of changed their minds from time to time and all was okay for a while. There is a lot that could be added to this book by the author that would give the reader some real closure. I could go on and on. This book has real potential if it is expanded.
I loved it, so funny
This author never disappoints!
I’ve already read this book, still have it in paperback, and loved reading it all over again. I am a huge Catherine Coulter fan, and highly recommend you pick this books as your next read…enjoy!
I read everything the author writes. I own most of her books and have read most of them.
I loved this book! Ms. Copter is one of my favorite authors. Her heroes are strong and their women are smart. Her story lines are intricate and fast moving. I highly recommend this book.
Love all books by this author
I love EVERYTHING by Catherine Coulter.
enjoyed the difference in era from a normal Catherine Coulter. But still the same great writing and enjoyable characters!!
I really enjoyed this book. It had a believable plot and good characters. I am a pushover for stories that have characters that we have seen in other books, so that families and extended friendships build in our minds. The H and h would not have existed in a vacuum, and Coulter gives us the web of everyday life. Good job.
I always enjoy Catherin coulter books.
Great just like all the rest of her books—-I would read any thing she writes!
Catherine Coulter’s Books are NEVER disappointing! This is no exception.
I am really not into historical fiction, but I do like the author, so I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The characters were well developed and the plot was interesting. I enjoyed the book and would read another like this!
Started slow but ended well. I like this author, but like some of her other books better.
I loved this story!
I love everything Catherine Coulter writes
Plot was definitely not well planned
Most of the time I like this author but I could not warm up to the characters. The book began ok but then story went no where.
Always good!
