When Lila Moore inherits her grandfather’s house, she finds herself in a small Midwestern town where margarine is never an acceptable substitution for butter, a coveted family recipe can serve as currency, and the friend who will take your darkest secrets to the grave will still never give you the secret to her prize-winning begonias.
Lila is charmed by the people of Auburn, from the blue-eyed … blue-eyed lawyer with the southern drawl to the little old lady who unceasingly tries to set Lila up with her grandson. But when strange things begin to happen, Lila realizes some of her new friends are guarding a secret like its a precious family heirloom. It’s a dangerous secret, and it has come back to haunt them. Lila is caught in the middle, and her life may depend on uncovering it. But even if she can, can she stay in Auburn when not everyone is what they seem, and even the house wants her gone?

This was such a lovely (and best of all ‘clean’) book. Something a bit different but definitely worth the read!
Enjoyed reading this book. Easy reading.
Love finds us in the most unexpected ways!
Entertaining story, well-written, a little mystery, a little romance, happy little ending.
What a marvelous encounter with a book which replaced death with every -day reality!
I enjoyed this book. Easy read and held my attention. In fact, I found it hard to put down. A few questions at the end, but maybe a follow up coming? Would recommend.
Interesting and fun
Fun Great Read! Loved it
A good read.
This was fun to read – did not want to put it down until finished!
Just a fun book to read. Enjoyable characters and places.
Interesting read that kept me turning the pages to see what happened next.
Opening pages seemed like drivel. I did not read on.
Pleasant, small town story. Confusing relationships. Repetitious. Many unanswered questions. Poor example of a cozy mystery since many loose ends were not tied. The title would lead the reader to believe the main characters were members of The Obituary Society, instead of the immature twenty-four year old whose point of view took us in circles. The ending was not much of a surprise, but story threads were poorly developed.
Loved it
Engaging!
it was a good easy read. did have you guessing who did it.
It showed that difference in ages is enjoyable and sometime has an advantage.
A typical fairytale of love and romance with a different twist. A good read but did not like the herbage of some words necessary to express feelings.
Another great read I couldn’t put down!
