When Lila Moore inherits her grandfather’s house, she finds herself in a small Midwestern town where margarine is never an acceptable substitution for butter, a coveted family recipe can serve as currency, and the friend who will take your darkest secrets to the grave will still never give you the secret to her prize-winning begonias.
Lila is charmed by the people of Auburn, from the blue-eyed … blue-eyed lawyer with the southern drawl to the little old lady who unceasingly tries to set Lila up with her grandson. But when strange things begin to happen, Lila realizes some of her new friends are guarding a secret like its a precious family heirloom. It’s a dangerous secret, and it has come back to haunt them. Lila is caught in the middle, and her life may depend on uncovering it. But even if she can, can she stay in Auburn when not everyone is what they seem, and even the house wants her gone?

Entertaining, kept one wanting to see what would come next.
Interesting characters and their interactions.
Unlike most books that I get for free, this one was very enjoyable!
Great characters. So much revealed about characters in story. ENJOYABLE
Boring
What really drew me in was the fact that it was set in Auburn, Nebraska. I was born in Auburn and a lot of my family still lives there. I kept searching for something that would solidify that this was Auburn.
Scary, but not too scary. A little haunting to make it interesting.
Good relaxing red
A nice fun book to settle in with.
Enjoyed it a lot
A easy entertaining book to read. It was lovely finding a romance book that didn’t use constant recaps to tell the story.
Fun read, predictable.
Great historical story.
Easy reading, very enjoyable
Kind of scary at my age, since I had to write my Dad & Mom’s obits, I hope I am remember kindly.
Enjoyed
Not great literature, but a good read.
This was a fun story to read! Friendship, responsibility, family and romantic love are all on display. The escapades are quite funny and the villain of the story gets what is deserved. Enjoyed it!
Absolutely loved this book and it’s characters. A great twist at the end
I’m excited to find a new character with B.V. Lawson’s,crime consultant, Scott Drayco. He’s been added to my favorites of Agent Pendergast (ChildlPreston),
Joe Picket (Box), and Sheriff Walt Longmire (Johnson). Following Dracyo as he attempts to help the local authorities find the serial killer during his visit from DC to Virginia’s small town. I found myself cheerng (as he puts information together)and boong him (book! don’t get involved with the married socialite).
The icing on this mystery cake is he returns to solve more crime.
It’s a quick read, hated when it finished, but excited to see what else Dracyo has up his sleeve. Highly recommend.
