The Noble Guardian is a fantastic end to a fantastic series, The Bow Street Runners. I enjoyed this story from beginning to end and everything in between. The danger, the intrigue, the characters, and of course, the romance! I loved it all!
In this story, Abigail Gilbert is betrothed to a baronet and must travel quite a distance to get to him. After a few mishaps, she hires Samuel Thatcher to guard her on her journey. There relationship is quite fun. They have good banter, conversation, and chemistry. I really enjoyed them both as leading characters.
This is a great historical romance that is sure to please!

Like the previous books I’ve read by Michelle Griep, The Noble Guardian is rich in historical details, characterization, and setting. This attention to the finer aspects of the story pulls you into the book and lets you experience it as if you’re riding alongside the characters. For this reason, I am always eager to read her next book.
Abigail searches for a love she never had from her family. She believes it will be found in the arms of the wealthy gentleman who has offered her marriage. On the way to her new home, she is rescued from danger. Samuel, a lawman, offers to take her the remaining way. He is just trying to get the trip over with so he can earn money and settle into his own homestead. By the time their voyage is finished, they have faced danger and the possibilities of heartbreak, and must decide whether the risk of more is worth the choice to have each other.

The Noble Guardian is my new favorite of Michelle Griep’s novels. This beautifully crafted story was well-written and perfectly paced. The adventure, suspense, and romantic tension combined to create a story that drew me back night after night until I finished it.
The romance was one of my favorite elements of this novel. Samuel and Abby are a case of opposites who attract. Their outlook on life differs greatly and both have firm ideas and expectations about the future. This juxtaposition undergirded their attraction and gave ample opportunity for character growth. The sustained romantic tension was perfectly balanced with adventure and suspense. Their first kiss might be one of the best kissing scenes I’ve read this year. Yes, I think it’s that good!
The Noble Guardian by Michelle Griep is the final novel of The Bow Street Runners Trilogy, but can be read as a stand-alone story. I recommend The Noble Guardian to readers who enjoy clean historical romances. It’s a keeper for my bookshelf and I give it five stars!

“Life is more than good ideas. It’s the risks that return greater results.”
–Samuel Thatcher
Michelle Griep finishes off the Bow Street Runners Trilogy with her best hero yet, Captain Samuel Thatcher. Be still, my beating heart!! A dark, silent man, scarred and a bit short on conversational skills, Samuel has little time in his busy life as an officer of the law to escort women and babies all over the countryside. However, he finds himself doing just that.
Abigail Gilbert, a lovely young woman from a relatively well-off family, departs on a journey to marry a virtual stranger in order to escape her unhappy family life. Little does Abigail dream that her life will take on the twists and turns she encounters along the way. Abby finds herself on the adventure of a lifetime. The bride-to-be finds herself a kidnap victim, a babysitter, and nursemaid before the trip comes to an end.
Packed with action, adventure, extremely bad guys, sweet babies, dark, handsome heroes, and romance, this book entertained me right from the start. Can these two damaged people find a way to make a life for themselves? Don’t miss this last book in the trilogy. It is an excellent read that I highly recommend for people who enjoy historical fiction, Regency fiction, and Christian fiction.
This ARC copy was received from Netgalley.com and Shiloh Press, an imprint of Barbour Publishing. The above thoughts and opinions are wholly my own.
In 1815 England travel was by chaise with a driver and usually a second man whose job was to watch for and protect from highwaymen. Abigail Gilbert is sent away from her home alone, to be married to a man she has met just once. What follows is seemingly endless perils, making one wonder if she will safely reach her destination. Along the way, her manages to hire horse patrol captain Samuel Thatcher. Unfortunately the danger doesn’t end with her new guardian. Throw a twist into the trip and suddenly he has even more to protect. Advice from an old farmer – ‘Yer not God, so quit tryin’ to be’ encourages Samuel to realize that he is not alone in his protection duties! Between illness, strong storms and death, this incredible book was impossible to put down. The nail-biting action starts at the beginning and continues right to the end. You don’t want to miss this 3rd book in the Bow Street Runners series!
I received an ARC through Barbour Publishing, NetGalley and CelebrateLit. A positive review was not required and all impressions and opinions are my own.
The Noble Guardian, written by Michelle Griep, is a wonderful historical story of a young girl, Abigail Gilbert, who has been under the control of a stepfamily who didn’t love or want her. Abigail longs for some happiness for herself, and believes it will be found by a taking a journey across the country to marry what she believes is the husband of her dreams. However along the way she finds robbers, thieves and desperate people she has no knowledge of how to deal with. Samuel Thatcher is a horse patrol captain that is savings up for land and a home. That is is only goal – until he meets Abigail, who found herself abandoned and alone but determined to go on. While Samuel escorts Abigail to her destination he is happy to meet his financial goal sooner but does not relish the trip. As they both face the dangers lurking along the way, they discover things about themselves and each other and their strengths that may change both their plans. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. Michelle Griep is a truly wonderful author, her historical research really shines in all her books.
With page-turning action and drama, you won’t want to put this story down! I fell in love with these characters. Even the secondary characters give so much to this story. There is plenty to love and enjoy within the pages of The Noble Guardian!
Abigail Gilbert has big plans for her future, she just didn’t plan on the unexpected adventure that awaits her along the way. Abigail may have been raised in a fine, fashionable home, but the lack of love she received left deep scars, not to mention that her planning for a love in her future may be more dream than reality. As her plans begin to unravel and her future becomes not at all what she expected will she stay the course or discover a new dream for her future?
Captain Samuel Thatcher is a man of few words. But if ever you needed someone in your corner to rescue you, this is the man for the job! He is observant and cunning, not much of anything slip past him. Behind his gruff exterior, Samuel has a tender heart, not that he’d admit that to anyone. Samuel is dependable, courageous, and quite the capable protector. You are sure to fall for this dashing hero!
I enjoyed every moment of this delightful story! It has something for everyone. Dynamic characters, engaging story-line, action, adventure, deep faith, and lots of heart. This is a story for the keeper shelf, a story that you’ll want to pull out and enjoy again!

The Noble Guardian by Michelle Griep is the third book in The Bow street Runners series.
This book was a pure pleasure to read. Michelle Griep has a wonderful way with words.
“ Outside, early morning vapors rose like prayers, blurring the countryside into a mystical softness.”
She has done a great amount of research and it shines through as we travel the treacherous road from London to Penrith with our heroine, Abigail Gilbert. “The farther they traveled, the closer the sides of the road drew, choking out the light and air and hope. Houses leaned one against the other, like drunken sailors holding each other upright. If one fell, the rest would lie down and never get up again.”
I can’t resist a noble lawman in the stories I favor. Ms.Griep certainly captures a worthy Bow Street Runner in this tale. Her heroine has led a somewhat sheltered life and is going to join the fiancé she has only met once. She naively sets out with scant protection on a very hazardous journey and thus meets her “Noble Guardian “, Samuel Thrasher. See what happens on the road to the rest of their lives.
Michelle Griep is one of my go-to authors of historical fiction when I want a well-researched, exciting story.
This story should appeal to fans of Historical Christian fiction. It is fast paced and showcases the characters’s faith in a natural way.
*I received an ARC copy of this book from the publisher on behalf of the author. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own.*
The Noble Guardian is the final installment from Michelle Griep’s Bow Street Runners Trilogy. It set during the Regency era in England. It tells the story of Abigail Gilbert seeks to get away from her family and does anything to search for love. She leaves home to go on an adventure through the country and plans to marry. Only, those plans take a dramatic twist when she finds herself in danger. Thankfully, she was rescued by Captain Samuel Thatcher. This encounter throws off both of their life plans.
The Noble Guardian is by far my favorite of Miss Griep’s books. I enjoyed Abigail and Samuel’s interactions with one another. The chemistry was so evident between them. The mystery and suspense made it fast paced easy to turn the pages. I intended to read just one chapter and wound up reading the whole book in one sitting.
I give The Noble Guardian well deserved five plus stars. Fabulous conclusion to the Bow Street Runners Trilogy.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
The Noble Guardian is a great conclusion to this series. I loved this book! In this book, the reader meets Abigail. Abigail has been raised by her father and stepmother. Her stepmother dislikes her immensely. They have found someone who wants to marry her and send her to marry him. She is excited to start out on this journey and get away from her family. She quickly falls into danger and realizes maybe this is going to be harder than she thinks. Samuel is a lawman and he comes to Abigail’s aid. He agrees to help get her to her next stop and find someone who can help her to her betrothed. Samuel has his own problems with a gang who is after him. As more problems occur, Samuel ends up taking Abigail himself. Their journey is long and eventful. I highly recommend this book and promise you will not be disappointed! If you enjoy historical Christian fiction, this book is for you!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, this is my own opinion.
Michelle Griep is at the top of her game, proving that she is a skilled storyteller. In The Noble Guardian, Griep fans finally get to read Samuel’s story and it was worth the wait. In Samuel, Griep gives us a hero who somehow has managed to develop a strong faith despite a rough childhood. His career with the military and Bow Street have molded him into a courageous and honorable hero with whom readers will fall in love.
He is sidetracked from his task of capturing a ruthless highway man when he accepts the job to accompany Abigail as her guardian. With Abigail and an endearing supporting cast, Samuel undertakes a journey that is filled with adventure, uncertainty and danger.
Michelle Griep’s attention to historical detail, ability to pen a story that captivates her readers with an engaging cast of characters will keep her at the top of my list in this genre. The spiritual truths of God’s love and mercy are woven seamlessly through this beautiful story. Although this is the third book in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.
One of my favorite quotes:
“Until ye’re fully satisfied with the love God gives ye, freely and without question, ye’ll not be satisfied at all.”
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
The Noble Guardian by Michelle Griep is Christian Historical Fiction. It is always a pleasure to read a book full of Christian truths, principles and historical facts. Adventure, action, clean romance, and the historical details of Bow Street Runners, Medical care, arduous travel are all included in this exciting book. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about travel and law enforcement in that time period. It is always refreshing to read how the characters Christian Faith affected their lives. I have enjoyed each book in this series and hope to read more by Michelle Griep.

I loved everything about this storyline! The journey was fantastic! Michelle Griep is one of my very favorite historical fiction Authors and I know when I pick up one of her books it’s going to be encouraging, romantic and uplifting but also so very accurate. That’s what always stands out to me with this particular Author.
Abigail Gilbert is a woman betrothed and through unforeseen circumstances ends up being escorted to her intended by Captain Thatcher, who is with the Bow Street Runners and on the run from a dangerous highwayman looking to take his life. Beautifully written! Loved every part!
“The Noble Guardian” by Michelle Griep
Ever so glad I read this story …. What an adventure to be lived via the pages of this story. You know how you want this story to go… but… this is a Regency England story and almost anything can happen. Yes, I loved this story.. I received an ARC of this story from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest opinion. If you like Regency England stories… with characters of honor and a goodly amount of love.. then I expect you will also enjoy your time within this story. Happy Reading !
First I want to say thank you to Barbour Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with an ARC of this amazing historical novel.
The plot was extremely well written and keeping me in twists and interested until the very end. The whole story was literally one long ride full of hurdles, accompanied by hunt for criminals and keeping the precious parcel safe.
One sassy woman, abandoned child on its way to relatives and their guardian travelling halfway through England to fulfill held promises. The path was stony while fighting highway men, illness and broken carriage but bringing on unexpected development of new and strongly growing feelings.
The heroine charmed her way into everyone’s heart due to her strong personality. The guardian and his noble ways of keeping both safe at all costs while fighting his own demons and enemies.
What would you want more? There is nothing to wish more for. Although in the end I was a little bit sad to part with them because let’s be honest I enjoyed the journey and cheered them on the whole time.
The Noble Guardian is the 3rd book in Michelle Griep’s Bow Street Runners series. I have previously read the second book in the series, but not the first one. This book can easily be read as a stand alone novel. As fans have come to expect from Michelle Griep, this historical novel is filled with action, adventure, danger, and romance. I absolutely love the cover of The Noble Guardian…such a handsome hero! Readers will be in for a treat with this delightful novel! Michelle Griep does not disappoint.

This is a good story with lots of action. Abby is on her way to get married to Sir Jonathan. Her father and step mother want to get rid of her so they sent her away. Alone without protection. Along the way she is deserted by her maid, waylaid by highway men, and given the responsibility of delivering a baby to her aunt. She is rescued by Samuel Thatcher. With a little persuasion he hires on as guardian for Abby. Their journey is very interesting. This isn’t a high suspense book. But has lots of adventure. I recommend this book.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Michelle Griep knows how to create must-read, can’t-put-down novels. She excels at making this era come to life. Samuel in The Noble Guardian is a true sacrificial hero. He does whatever it takes to keep his charges safe. Who would not love a hero like that? He is very subtly a flawed, human embodiment of the perfect guardian of our souls. This tale is a real journey across a stretch of land that has danger lurking around every corner, it is also a spiritual journey for both Samuel and Abby. I love Michelle Griep stories and I highly recommend the The Noble Guardian, which can be read as a stand-alone, but is most enjoyably read as part of The Bow Street Runners series.
Wow what a great action packed book, I couldn’t put it down! I got this book last month a day before I had surgery and am just now getting to read it. Michelle griep has outdone herself again with this historical Romance book! It is the final chapter of life for Abby and the final book in the Bow street runners trilogy. She is on a journey across England to marry a very wealthy man, leaving behind a family who has come to dispise her. It almost starts out as a Cinderella story, until her life is threatened by the highwaymen.
Samuel Thatcher a horse patrol caption, takes on the job of getting her safely across her journey. This is only after much pleading from Abby and her paying him. Which will allow him to retire from patrol and be more than enough money to purchase the property he wants to fulfill his own dreams. There journey starts out, and as reader you are wondering if they will kill each other first or will they fall in love! That’s the suspense of the book that makes you not want to put it down! This story is filled with hope, rich with history, heart and hope. You as a reader want to find out what happens to the pair! I won’t tell you what happens because this is a must read book! This book could be read by itself but I recommend reading the entire series! Be sure to pre- order this book that comes out June 1st!

“Nothing that happened took God by surprise or was beyond His reach to heal. She’d cling to that. She must.”
Abigail Gilbert desperately needs a guardian; her stepmother has just dismissed her and her future to a guardian-less carriage, destined to travel over some of the most dangerous territory in England; the Hounslow Heath; where highwaymen linger, and one small misstep could write one’s epitaph. She must press forward; her intended, an earl, awaits her arrival.
Captain Samuel Thatcher is weary; nearing the end of of his commission as a Bow Street Runner he longs to retire and become a simple farmer with a quiet life, far away from wickedness and thievery and the despicable Shankhart Robbins. Yet, he finds himself traipsing before and behind the coach of a lovely, stubborn, persistent, little spitfire of a woman who is determined to meet her Maker by travelling alone.
It was with great fondness that Samuel Thatcher’s story unfolded. The most infamous of the author’s three runners, he seemed to prefer the shadows over limelight and honor over acclaim, believing that “the likes of him” could never measure up to what the heart of another might need or require. That was about to change, and this reader enjoyed every minute of it!
I received a copy of this book from the author. The opinions stated are entirely my own.
