Milton offers to help, but, before he can, Eddie is found dead in circumstances that Milton considers suspicious. And then events take a turn that no-one could have anticipated…
Milton’s attempted good deed becomes a quest to unveil corruption at the highest levels of government and murder at the dark heart of the criminal underworld. Milton is pulled back into the game, and that’s going to have serious consequences for everyone who crosses his path.

Good plot twists. Very similar to the others in the series. Enjoyed it.
Great twist on the 12 steps of AA.
Milton, as a character, becomes a real person as you read and learn more about him. There are some hidden twists and turns which keep me coming back to read Dawson’s books.
I enjoyed the character development very much. Milton is likeable in spite of his violent side, as is Hicks. There is plenty of action, and the writing is crisp. Only thing I found I didn’t like was the frequent references to London locations since I’m from the US, and completely unfamiliar with them. That was a double edged sword, however, because there were British words and phrases I learned, so reading a British novel can be enlightening as well. I will be looking to read others in this series!
Milton is an interesting character with a dark past as an assassin for a British intelligence agency. He has relinquished his past and is trying to turn his life around. Sometimes, a situation arises where it’s just not possible to forget who he really is….
Mark Dawson has created a great character in John Milton. Stories are fast paced with plenty of action.
All of his John Milton series are outstanding !!
Another great John Milton book. He’s the British version of Jack Reacher. Well written, great characters and stimulating plots.
Loving books about ex FBI/ CIA special forces, I would recommend this one. Good read
Action packed till the end.
