The Ninja Daughter is an action-packed thriller about a Chinese-Norwegian modern-day ninja with Joy Luck Club family issues who fights the Los Angeles Ukrainian mob, sex traffickers, and her own family to save two desperate women and an innocent child. After her sister is raped and murdered, Lily Wong dedicates her life and ninja skills to the protection of women. But her mission is complicated. … complicated. Not only does she live above the Chinese restaurant owned by her Norwegian father and inspired by the recipes of her Chinese mother, but she has to hide her true self from her Hong Kong tiger mom who is already disappointed in her daughter’s less than feminine ways, and who would be horrified to know what she had become.
But when a woman and her son she escorted safely to an abused women’s shelter return home to dangerous consequences, Lily is forced to not only confront her family and her past, but team up with a mysterious—and very lethal—stranger to rescue them.

THE NINJA DAUGHTER is a remarkably fresh, intense thriller, and Lily Wong is one hell of a new hero. I want this Ninja on my side. Tori Eldridge is redefining the genre.
The perfect blend of character-driven action and suspense. I was turning pages long after bedtime!
In The Ninja Daughter, Tori Eldridge serves up a full platter of thrills, featuring an intriguing cross-cultural vigilante with strong ties to her family and a complex and equally compelling assassin as her deadly foil. I hope she brings both back soon.
With The Ninja Daughter, Tori Eldridge has created a heroine to love… and to fear! Lily’s quest to protect the women of L.A. left me breathless, and Eldridge’s snappy, down-to-earth prose kept me flipping pages.
This was filled with action and suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat; these well-written characters had me fully invested. Lily was a mix of strength and vulnerability who knew both her own worth and faults. This story felt very real as the narrator gave Lily a very distinct voice. The fight scenes were so well written I could picture the characters in their choreographed moves, nothing exaggerated or over-done. I can not say enough good things about this book! I highly recommend it to all audiobook fans; I can not wait for others in this series.
Lily is a Chinese-Norwegian American, trained in classical Chinese martial arts as well as in the secret Japanese mountain-clan methods of ninjutsu. The characters are vivid; the dialogue is believable in a story which moves between so many worlds. When she meets the Bad Boy who is yang to her yin in the story, it is slightly erotic. There is also the difficulty of family conflict as Tiger Daughter faces Tiger Mother.
The author’s Ninja background makes the action scenes and setting feel real. If you like an extra strong female protagonist and a fast-moving plot, you will enjoy this book.
Fans of fast-paced thriller novels and blockbuster action movies will devour THE NINJA DAUGHTER like a dish in the Wong family’s restaurant. Protagonist Lily Wong is equal parts muscle and heart as she hunts down the scum of L.A. to defend and protect women and children. Think of this book as Kill Bill without the gore. I’d recommend THE NINJA DAUGHTER to just about anyone.
This was one heck of a page turner! Full of action packed fight scenes and amazing characters. The author did an amazing job at creating realistic characters, Lily is the perfect blend of strength and vulnerability, she knew both her worth and faults; this added with her witty intelligence just made her the perfect characters. I loved how as the story progressed we get to see Lily and her parents relationship reshape itself. I also loved that the fight scenes were never overdone, never cheesy, they were perfectly written to make them feel real. I could picture the character performing each one. I highly recommend this book, i can not wait to read others in this series.
What set this book aside for me was the interesting cultural blend of the MC family. I found it particularly appealing when when I read that it is based on the author’s heritage. While the action provides the requisite over the top skills to the MC, it is tempered by the grounding relationship with her measured speaking father. The plot worked, the characters were fun. Good read. Looking forward to reading next book.
I enjoyed this book mostly because it was so different. The author, at time, seemed to forget what she wanted to say. The characters were strong and the plot was enjoyable We should expect more from this author.
A fast-paced novel that feels like reading a film. I love the protagonist, Lily Wong, who is a confident and highly trained vigilante out to provide justice, especially for suffering women. Eldridge does a great job of painting the different cultures Lily embraces in her personal identity: Chinese, Norwegian, and Japanese.
The Ninja Daughter also offers a whirlwind ride through Los Angeles, especially the more dangerous locations. There was a real breakneck speed to every connecting scene—sometimes I actually wanted a pause to absorb everything and figure out the complex connections. However, the thrilling read definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I’m interested in learning more about Lily’s family, too, particularly the backstory behind Ma and Baba. Maybe in the sequel?
Overall, an enjoyable and energetic story with a ferocious ninja lead that excavates the heart of gritty Los Angeles.
I had the pleasure of getting an advance copy of this book and it did not disappoint. Lilly Wong is a complex, fascinating heroine. Tori plots at a breakneck pace, populating her ensemble cast with colorful characters and exciting locations. Her description of the fight scenes speak to a deep personal knowledge of martial arts and yet are accessible to those who have never entered a dojo. I had only planned to take a taste of this delectable story on an airplane but ended up staying up most of the night to get to the satisfying conclusion. If you are an Audible fan, you’ll enjoy Natalie Naudus’ spot on narration. Here’s hoping we see much more of Lilly Wong in the future!
Tori Eldridge’s The Ninja Daughter is an impressive debut novel — written with heartfelt, personal conviction and a sense-of-place that few first thrillers achieve.
The Ninja Daughter’s flashing steel and unrelenting action take readers on a non-stop thrill ride. Eldridge combines the honor and discipline of Eastern morays with the cynicism and justice-seeking drive of Western lore to create a spellbinding character, Lily Wong. You’ll want this ninja on your side.
Resourceful and fierce, Lily Wong fights for women who desperately need her help — a true Ninja Warrior. She took me on a wild ride I will never forget.
The Ninja Daughter is a riveting, rollicking, roller-coaster ride of a thriller. Eldridge’s stunningly ambitious debut juggles sub-plots as deftly as it does cultures. As beautifully realized as it is emotionally wrought, The Ninja Daughter is both striking in its originality and shattering in its ultimate impact.
Lily Wong, the heroine of Tori Eldridge’s debut thriller, The Ninja Daughter, is Jack Reacher — if Reacher were petite, female, and Asian — smart, skilled, and relentless; a passionate fighter on behalf of women who are in too deep to save themselves. The Ninja Daughter is an exceptional first novel, offering readers a tense and fascinating look into a culture and a world that most of us have never seen. I loved this book!
Tori Eldridge brings serious game to the thriller genre with The Ninja Daughter. Action-packed, devious, and with a lead character you’ll truly care about. This debut kicks ten kinds of ass — highly recommended!
Complex and engaging, The Ninja Daughter is a real page-turner with action aplenty but also depth and heart. Lily Wong makes a vividly intriguing heroine with some serious ninja skills. Charlie Fox would team up with her in a heartbeat.
