I’ve always been three things: Loving daughter, devoted sister, and cynical romantic. Okay, maybe not always the last one, that didn’t happen until my ex-boyfriend cheated on me, and not with just anyone…my best friend. One year later, and I’m over relationships, only interested in the occasional one-night stand. I don’t fall in love with them, and I don’t expect them to fall in love with me. I … with me. I won’t be waiting around for their call or stalking their social media—until I discover that one of my little trysts indirectly holds my family’s fate in his hands. So, with a little convincing from my older and much wiser sister, I break my own rules for the sake of my family.
He’s the exact opposite of me: Serious, detached and arrogant. Did I mention that he looks like he should be on a billboard for a cologne ad in the middle of Times Square, or the sexy way he botches up my name in his German accent? Well, he does…but I refuse to relent, remaining committed to my plan. Strictly business, no emotions involved, and nobody will get hurt…until nobody turns into somebody I find myself needing more than I ever thought possible.
What do you do when a one-night stand turns into so much more than you bargained for? And how do you stop one lie that’s getting bigger each time you’re with him from caving everything in around you? I know in the end someone is going to get hurt, but I’m powerless to stop it. And for him…I think I may be willing to have my heart broken all over again.

Since reading my first Beth Rinyu Book – which was “Easy Silence” this author has always been on my radar when releasing a new book and I already found several plots I read and liked since then like “Thursday Afternoon” or “When Autumn Ends” (which by the way is my fav. so far from all the books I read).
So when I noticed the plot of “The Night We Met” I knew I had to read that one too. And again the author delivered. The leading characters are so well developed that I could connect to them so easy even if Lukas was quite complicated.
Actually the only person I disliked is the “sister” – I lost her the moment they came up with that stupid plan – #sigh and I never wanted her back actually. …
I know I know … to get the plot going you needed that stupid idea … yeah … but I do not have to like the sister – do I ? … So I guess well played dear author that character served its purpose…
I loved how the relationship between the leads developed. And as a reader you could feel the doom building up while you followed them through their journey. At some points I could not put the book down anymore and had to read through to the (bitter?!?) End …. Because what else should you expect when you start to expand a one – night stand … strictly business, no emotions ……..
Let’s face it … there is NO such thing unless you are not human … you simply cannot plan emotions
The question is … will they survive the blow up that we all know has to follow the lies.
Well I know the answer …. But you will have to read the book and suffer the hangover same as I did … (but trust me it will be worth it)
Emme is a cynic about love after her boyfriend cheats on her with her best friend. Lukas is moody, arrogant and a complex character. These two end up having a one night stand with no intention of seeing each other again. However, fate has other plans in this story, and the undeniable chemistry between them. This is a well written story which has twists, healing, forgiveness, and love. I was intrigued and hooked throughout and recommend for all readers.
This has been a lovely read! Romantic, emotional, charming, and starring two fabulous lead characters. Emme and Lukas are drawn so well and I thoroughly enjoyed the slow development of their feelings for each other. With a plot that revolves around the keeping of a lie and the inevitability of its disclosure, I found myself dreading the moment of truth but anticipating the resolution. I was not disappointed! With a proper epilogue to round it out, this book is a total treat! I am hoping Oliver gets his story!!
I couldn’t stop reading this book even though I knew the truth would come out and destroy the relationship Emme and Lukas had developed.
I was so happy that Emme realized her sister was a manipulator. I don’t think I would have wanted Bridgette there to console me when it all blew up. She did kind of redeem herself by nudging Emme and Lukas back together.
Fingers are crossed that we get Oliver’s story in the future!
This book had a sweet and playful feel to it. Emme and Lukas had a night to remember that turned into so much for them. My only issue with this book was a simple mistake that i hoped got caught but in the case it didn’t here it is. When Emme was talking to Lukas’s mom in the boutique, she asked what time Lukas was born, she told her and then Emme mumbled her time. The next line was something about them being 4 mins apart when in reality it was 5 and half hours apart. I’m hoping that was a typo.
Anyway back to Emme and Lukas, these two have a lot going between them. Lukas is in charge of whether or not businesses stay open. This affects Emme’s sister. Her and Lukas do not get along but make nice for the sake of the business. They do eventually get along though. Through Lukas, Emme is able to see her sister in a whole different light and it brings up issues between the sisters. Healing and forgiveness is huge in this book. Both need to move on from the past and the mistakes they made. They need to find their passion and their home again. I really, really loved this story and the characters in it. I would highly recommend you reading this book!
Another five star read from Beth Rinyu. One story that will have you on the edge of your chair. Emme and Lukas are two characters that you will not soon forget. Their story will stick with you long after the last page is read. I couldn’t wait to read their story and WHAT A WONDERFUL STORY we got.
Beth Rinyu has a way of telling stories that you don’t want to put down.
Lukas is a angry, broody man who has his walls way up! Nothing is going to bring down those walls until he meets Emme. But nothing goes as planned. And sh!t hits the fan, emotions are in full alert, trust is broken. But as always LOVE WINS!!
Beth is an automatic one-click author for me. I know anyone who picks up her books will fall in love.
Highly recommended.
The Night we Met by Beth Rinyu tells the story of Emme and Lukas. Emme has been going through a difficult time after leaving behind her dream job to take care of her ill mother, and also finding her boyfriend in bed with one of her best friends. To deal with the pain she has been having random hookups. Unbeknownst to her, the latest hookup ends up being her sister’s boss who holds her fate in his hands.
Lukas is angry, alpha and dealing with his own issues. As the two become closer, how real can it be when secrets are hidden from each other? Through their journey they both help each other heal from their past.
“It didn’t matter how long you knew someone. It could be days, hours, or even minutes…when you find that special someone you just know it’s meant to be forever.”
Ms. Rinyu always delivers wonderful characters that leave you with a book hangover many days later. The Night we Met is no exception.
She hints that we will have the opportunity to revisit Emme and Lukas in Oliver’s story. I for one cannot wait!
