These two better choose what they want and fast—they’ve got nine months and counting.
I love the books of Susan Carlisle. I know I’ll get engaging characters and great plots. This book was no different. I was swept away in the writing and couldn’t put it down.
I met Lucius in the first book in this series (Risking Her Heart on the Single Dad by Annie O’Neil) and wasn’t sure I’d like him. He could be a bit of a pain. But I loved the way he evolved in this book. He grew and it was nice to see it.
Amanda has baggage. She’s not a perfect character, but that’s what made her great. That’s what made her relatable. She can be just as fiery and pesky as Lucius, so it was great to see them get together. I rooted for them all the way.
The scenes between them are steamy, but just right and I couldn’t get enough.
If you want a book that’s steamy, but not too much, and will warm your heart, then this is the book for you. Recommended.
Amanda and Lucius’ story The Neonatal Doc’s Baby Surprise by Susan Carlisle, book two in the Miracles in the Making series, is a wonderful and enjoyable tale. Amanda is in Sydney for an opportunity to learn about infertility procedures at a clinic directed by Dr. Lucius West. Independent, self-assured, and direct, Amanda is not afraid to challenge Lucius in the OR, or out. These clashes turn into passion in the bedroom; but they soon learn there are consequences to their unquenchable desire. Amanda would stay if only Lucius would ask or admit his feelings to her; she just wanted to be loved. Unable to reach an understanding before Amanda’s deadline of returning to the US, she decides to raise the baby on her own. However, absence, or in this case, separation, makes the heart grow fonder and the lovers lonelier missing their partner.
Ms. Carlisle wrote an wonderful, flirty, and enjoyable romance that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, sexual chemistry, humor, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving Amanda and Lucius a chance at a forever love and family. I highly recommend The Neonatal Doc’s Baby Surprise to other readers.

4 1/2 STARS!
This fertility doctor and nurse took baby making to a whole different level! With the second book in the Miracles in the Making duet, Susan Carlisle brings us Lucius West’s story in a colleagues to lovers book, and it’s delightful!
If you read the first in the duet by Annie O’Neil, you were already familiar with Lucius going into this book and if you were like me, you were expecting him to be a bit of an uptight jerk from his sister Kirri’s point of view in her story. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was truly a nice guy beneath the workaholic persona.
Amanda was easy to like and once sparks started to fly between them, I was pulling for them whole-heartedly.
I highly recommend this duet to anyone who is looking for a romance set in a medical setting with a cast of heartfelt characters. I really enjoyed it!
