With money and hope in short supply, newly minted attorney Brigham Theodore decides it’s time to lower his standards. He joins a seedy fly-by-night firm in Salt Lake City out of desperation. After he loses his first case—a speeding ticket—he’s convinced his career is over. But to his shock, his boss hands him a slightly more complex case: capital murder.Brigham’s new client is Amanda Pierce, a … Pierce, a lost, exhausted woman who gunned down the man who tortured and killed her six-year-old daughter. A jury may prove sympathetic to her unbearable pain, but the law is no fan of vigilante justice—and neither is Vince Dale, the slick and powerful prosecutor who’s never lost a murder case. There’s no question that Amanda pulled the trigger—she did it in front of five witnesses. If she pleads guilty, she will avoid a death sentence, but saving her life this way comes with an admission that what she did was wrong. However, if she refuses the “guilty” label, Brigham will have no choice but to fight for his career—and Amanda’s life.

How could you not love a novice lawyer who rides his bicycle to court, owns one suit (with a missing button) and whose first real trial finds him defending a woman in a death penalty case? Wow! Talk about a hook.
Victor Methos’s young hero, Brigham Theodore, worked his way through law school as a custodian. Days after being admitted to practice, he joins a seedy law firm headed by a shady senior partner. (If the setup reminds you of young Rudy Baylor joining Bruiser Stone’s law firm in John Grisham’s “The Rainmaker,” that’s not a bad thing).
With the ink not yet dry on his Utah Bar license, Brigham gets his first major case: a murder trial. He’s defending Amanda Pierce, a distraught mother who gunned down the man who viciously killed her young daughter. Brigham is up against savvy and slick prosecutor Vince Dale who knows all the tricks of the trade and has invented a few of his own.
The author is a former prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer, and it shows in his authentic rendering of trial practice. “The Neon Lawyer” is a fast-paced entertaining legal thriller that I highly recommend.
A new lawyer that had real feelings for his client. He was willing to fight with everything in him. Easy to read, I could not put it down!
I enjoyed reading poor boy, self-educated, who makes it in the world of law in a compassionate way. I liked seeing the rich, pompous lawyer lose a case to a young, earnest lawyer. It all worked well for the young attorney and the poor woman who he defended.
I was looking for a fast paced story with enough twists and turns to keep me engaged but that won’t go too deep into description or details and let’s the reader imagination running wild and then I stopped on this book from ku recommendations. I’m so happy that I took a chance to it and went in blind because this was definitely a ride and now I need to know more about the Lawyer and his cases.
Great story about a fairly new lawyer looking for a law office to work in. He is ready to build a practice and looking for work, and then is handed the difficult case not everyone would want to try. This case asks a lot of tough questions and is a murder investigation that needs a lot of work. Brigham Theodore is up for the challenge and doesn’t give up until he brings it to a close. He must represent Amanda Pierce, a woman who gunned down the man who killed her six year old little girl. This was an amazing novel, I listened to the audible version. I liked it so much I bought the second book in the series! This author has a new fan!
Every-day, ordinary man excels in his profession.
Liked the book very much.
Too short.
A bit jejeune, but planning to give his next in the series a read to be sure.
I liked the main character…at first it reminded me of Grisham’s Rainmaker… but then decided The Neon Lawyer was more ruthless. An entertaining book.
Good read, entertaining

Read it in one night. Could not put it down!
Well written and totally believable!
The book was written in a fashion that makes you feel that you are present. It was a book that I could not put down. The story line was excellent.
A satisfying read
Enjoyed it
A legal drama that somehow misses the mark. Although I enjoyed the quick read, it was predictable and the characters somewhat shallow.
Refreshing, especially for the courtroom genre.
Good ‘voices.’

It’s been some time since I’ve read a legal suspense, but the concept of a mother killing her daughter’s kidnapper/murderer and represented by a newly licensed attorney influenced my decision. It was well-told, short, somewhat predictable, and entertaining. Great closing argument! Beyond a shadow of a doubt, I enjoyed this!
