I enjoyed this story a lot. Despite the fantastical idea of just happening to have a billionaire neighbor, this was a surprisingly grounded, down to earth story.
After Allie is left at the altar, she is forced to Choosing between staying in a City where she would constantly have to confront her ex fiancé or going back home to stay with an overbearing mother Who clearly loves her but wants to control every aspect of her adult life.
Allie chooses to go home, but quickly find a place to rent for the summer, so there is some separation from her folks after finishing a day working at their family diner.
When she rents a home in town, she discovers it is already accounted for by am a serious visitor to town, Ethan Smith. After raising curtains made of sheets all through the house Elle agrees to share the place. It can’t be that easy can it?
This was a fun book! I think Romance readers will enjoy the romance and surprising twists throughout the story.
Allie s back at Harlan Cove after her no wedding fiasco. While tak8ng a bath in her new rental house a handsome man enters the house. Turns out the Old Victorian was not for rental until the end of the summer. But Allie and the owner, Ethan Smith, agree to share the house. Can they only share it when there is a spark between them? Is Allie ready to give her heart again? CAn Ethan finally make his teen crush true? The audiobook is great.
YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU HAD UNTIL YOU REVISIT IT
I liked the way Kimberley set up the story for Allie and Ethan to meet and begin their relationship. The circumstances were not unique, but the way she handled it allowed the story to flow smoothly and the progression of enemy to friendship to lovers was done exceptionally well. I liked the fact that the older, Ethan, was the one to have the crush as a teen and was also a geek. The final thoughts of the two characters had my heart feeling content.
I think this is a good story. I liked the banter between Allie & Ethan as they share the same house. They both have secrets that come out eventually. There is also a VERY BIG surprise later in the book I couldn’t have guessed would happen that made me fear the worse. It has an HEA however. Great beginning to a series. I look forward to reading more.
A wedding that didn’t take place – the guy had work to do. The jilted bride with no place to go except home. A hard start for a good book. I really enjoyed the secrecy between the two main characters, and loved how sweet the new guy was to this young lady.
LOVED it so much!!! a bit of a slow start but it picked up REALLY good after that. I’m glad I stuck with it!!! it was well worth the wait.
Fun! Fun! Fun! The Neighbor’s Secret is a sweet, fun romance full of love, hope and of course secrets. Allie is left at the alter by her fiance, minutes before they are supposed to be married. Reeling from the hurt, she heads to her hometown and rents the first house she can find. Just close enough to her family, but giving her the privacy she needs, Allie begins to settle in when someone enters the house! Ethan Smith, the owner of the house is moving in, the realtor making an error. These two are at each other in the beginning, but once they decide to share the house, things begin to change. What we don’t know, is all the secrets Ethan holds and will the attraction between Allie and Ethan grow to be more than lust! And what of Allie’s ex? Will there ever be closure? This is full of a few plot twists that lead to Allie’s growth and understanding of herself. Life never goes as expected and this book shows how to make the most of the surprises!
Sarah Sampino narrates the story with the hurt, frustration and hope throughout the story. I am enjoying her performances, giving life to the characters and bringing the story out in a way that I truly can feel the characters emotions. She does a wonderful portrayal and I look forward to more of this series.
A Wonderful 2nd Chance at Love! Great Audible Listen
The Neighbor’s Secret
A Secret Billionaire Romance Series, Book 1
By: Kimberley Montpetit
Narrated by: Sarah Sampino
The Neighbor’s Secret is a delightful and sweet story. Life does not always goes as plans but sometimes works out for the better. This book is well written, the storylines and characters are interesting and well developed. The chemistry between Allie and Ethan was amazing, and might i add he is a sweetheart of a man. I liked all the characters, with the exception of Sean, who was a jerk. I recommend this enjoyable book, there were some sad moments, some funny, some dramatic with a few twists and some romance.
I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Sampino is a wonderful narrator and storyteller. She performs all the voices and brings the characters to life. She sets the perfect tone for the story and adds a nice dramatic flair. Thank you for another great & entertaining listen!
Beautiful
This was a wonderful story of how having the worse day of your life can bring new, old & better things. I couldn’t but it down.
Story: 3.5 stars
The story was good if a tad predictable. I liked that the girl didn’t move on so quickly that you wondered if she really loved her former fiancé; she went through believable grieving period. She pushed the hero away pretty consistently. He had the patience of a saint and waited until she got through her grieving.
The relationship between the heroine and her mother was only too accurate, and yet, we readers saw no real reason for her rejection of her mom. Her mom would reach out to try to help, but only end up annoying her daughter.
There is an HEA and the build-up to it is lovely.
*spoiler alert*
There were a couple of elements that I found to be unrealistic. His agreeing to allow her friend to set up a photography business in his house…there was never a conversation where our intrepid heroine asked for permission to do this (at least not in my memory, but I was listening on audiobook, maybe I was distracted when that part was read?)
That the hero just happened to be there to rescue her from the fire…it’s great that he was, but what were the odds?
Narration: 3 stars
The voice actress did a pretty good job. Her male voice is subtly different from her female voice, enough to tell a difference most of the time. Those seem to be her only two voices. Good inflections, speed of reading, and overall narrating.
*poor, **ok, ***good, ****very good, *****something special
A well sweet clean fun romance story. This engaging storyline had a few twists, some laugh out loud funny scenes, passion, heartache, and romance. The characters are well developed and have amazing chemistry. The narration was fantastically done really bring the story and characters to life. .
** Audiobook Review **. I was given a copy of this audio book for an honest review. Once again, Kimberley knocks it out of the park with a fantastic story & I loved Sarah Sampino as the narrator. Incredible job!! How to explains my feelings for this book?………… It took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I had highs and lows. Laughter and tears. Rejoicing and cringing. Love and disgust. Honestly, just about every emotion you could have, I felt with this book. Listen to (or read) this book! You won’t be disappointed.
Clean romance. A sweet read.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my honest opinion. I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were interesting, as was the story line. Two people sharing a house was different.
This was my first Kimberley Montpetit’s book. I love this small town story. Allie and Ethan are great characters, and they share a beautiful chemistry. This is a sweet, and beautiful story. Ethan is an handsome man, protective, and caring. The secondary characters are also interesting. This was a fun and heartwarming listen. Sarah Sampino did a great narration. She has a beautiful voice, easy to understand. The quality audio is amazing (no background sounds, no echo). I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
