This was a quick cute story. The emotions were real and the connections good. I loved the doc and Sara and even little James. The only thing that kept it in the good category was the fact that it was too quick. I think if things were expanded on and the full situations hashed out, it would have been better and like 300 pages instead of under 200 like it was.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
What a wonderful story. Once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It was enchanting. The rich boy and the girl from the wrong side of town. Such a beautiful telling. It had a dual POVs which helps the reader connect with the characters. It is a wonderful start to a series. There was also a glimpse into the second book which I will definitely be reading.
I highly recommend this book to anyone.
characters were too wounded
The trait I enjoy most in Iris Morland’s work as an author is that she shows her characters as they are, not as they hope to be. That is what makes The Nearness of You so compelling. Two characters on a trip of self – discovery, exposing their flaws and regrets. Sara and Harrison’s is a tale of new beginnings, happy endings and epic baggage along the way. However, it is also a story hope, forgiveness and gaining the chance to get things right. Ms. Morland exposes a journey that every person struggles through. Living a happy life. Relatable characters and thought provoking questions, prove that she got it right.
Entertaining but cliched romance between a girl from the wrong side of the tracks and one of the golden children from an A-list family. What makes this different is trying to anticipate what his nightmare of a manipulative mother will do next.
I actually want to read the next just to see how mums tries to sabotage the next son’s romance.
Loved this book
I liked it.
Enjoyed this read. Kept my interest.
Story line kept my attention. Wanted to follow the characters journey.
Everything was a stereotype.
Great book
Love love loved it !!
Lovely story with likeable characters – thoroughly enjoyed this book
I loved the title of this book. The title made me want to read the book. He really liked the nearness of her. What I would like the author to do is write a follow up and have Sara and Harrison have a very small secret wedding from which Harrison’s parents are excluded. Have his brother and sister, Caleb and Jubilee, Sara’s sister, Megan, Sara’s son, James, Sara’s mother, Ruth and Caleb’s friends, Heath and Trent, attend, but no one else.
Harrison’s mother, Lisa, grew up poor, from what I gather, but she seemed to have forgotten that. Her bullying and looking down on Sara, a poor defenseless girl, and her family was horrible and Lisa needed a taste of her own medicine. If only for a while to teach her a lesion, Lisa needed to be cut from Harrison and Sara’s, life.
Lisa wanted to spare Harrison and Sara, the pains that she and her husband went thru early in their marriage. This was not her right. She should realize that Harrison and Sara were capable of fighting their own battles without her input; that it was not her right to interfere in Harrison and Sara’s life. Lisa was an overprotective, meddling, uppity, witch. Lisa’s husband should have checked her.
When Sara’s ex, Kyle, showed up, the words he used made it seem like Lisa had gotten in touch with him. Had the author followed thru with that trend of thought, it could have added more drama to the story.
I didn’t like all the talk about punching and beating people up, even if it never happened. I don’t like that kind of talk. The was a lot of explicit sex — maybe just a bit too much. I mean, the sex was well placed, but a bit too much.
The ending was nice and romantic. The cover was nice and soft. I liked that the cover matched the title and the Harrison’s and Sara’s togetherness.
Because of the relationship between Harrison and Sara, I would read this one again on a rainy night in Georgia, when curled up in my lazy boy chair, in front of the fireplace.
It was a great read!!!
I could not get past the first pages. This woman is worried about her son possibly showing symptoms of cancer again, but sees the doctor and can only think about how handsome and sexy he is? It’s good to stay away from the formulaic and this book clearly did not.
