She’s got the voice. He’s got the body. When their music and fashion worlds collide, will their wildest dreams come true?
Lauren Rose always imagined her life in show biz. Singing classic love songs in posh hotel lounges by night and teaching theater to kids by day, she wonders if her big break will ever come. Enter a charming British supermodel, and she’s star struck for sure.
David Randle … sure.
David Randle needs a break. Solely focused on his successful modeling career for over a decade, he shifts gears and channels all his energy into the launch of his high-fashion debut cologne, Drive. But after arriving in Atlanta to attend his sister’s wedding, he’s propelled off course by a beautiful lounge singer performing at the hotel where he’s staying.
When David invites Lauren to New York to see him rev up for a fashion shoot to promote his new cologne, he must steer clear of his uptight assistant who tries to put the brakes on his newfound happiness. And with her stunning Brit impossible to resist, Lauren knows she could potentially be a distraction and derail the success of the biggest launch of his career.

This author was already up in my favorites after reading her Southern Promises series, but she jumped even a few more spots after this one…I loved loved loved this book! And I can also say…I Love Love Love this author…she is completely awesome.
Everything about this story was spot on, the characters…sigh…i fell for both of them pretty quick, David turned out to be someone totally different than i thought he would be and I was so glad, he is what I love in my leading men. I so loved Lauren as well…The whole dynamic between these two worked perfectly. I am so thankful this story did not end up going the way I thought it would, although a few of the little twists and turns caught me off guard they were placed at just the perfect times throughout.
I had all the feels while reading this, and I shed a few tears in a few places. This is definitely one of my favorite reads of this year so far and its funny because another of this authors books shares a spot on that list.
Read this Im not even kidding, it is awesome and when your done go read her Southern Promises Series…definite rereads in the future for me.
One of those stories you never want to end…..
Brilliant!!
K.G. Fletcher’s The Nearness of You was a brilliant written romance with fantastic characters that shine within the story. Lauren and David set this story on full speed throttle and I’m amazed they didn’t catch fire. I couldn’t put this story down once I started and that’s a sign of a truly talented author. K.G. Fletcher’s ability to share a story with exquisite detail is right here waiting to be read. It includes a mix of everything but not in way that is over done. It’s finely tuned and I loved every minute of it.
The Nearness of You is a standalone romance novel from author K G Fletcher. Focused around the world of showbiz, fame and glamour, we meet two characters who are both following their dreams. This is an exciting read that has all the makings for a fairy-tale story. I loved it and am already on the lookout for more of the same!
We meet Lauren, our leading lady, during a comfortable period in her life. She’s happy, but determined not to give up on her dreams of making it big in the music industry. So when a routine gig introduces her to David, thing change forever. Lauren is an ambitious, fun and completely likeable character. I loved finding out more about her life and found myself praying that all of her dreams would come true. Her instant connection David felt real and not forced at all, which is sometimes the case in romance reads. They naturally bounced off each other and it was obvious just how much they enjoyed being around each other. Let’s be honest, I think it would be easy for anyone to enjoy being around David! As a Brit myself, I maybe didn’t have quite the same reaction to him as my American counterparts. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate him! He doesn’t seem to have nay major flaws and he treats Lauren like a queen; where can I find one?! David’s relationship with his sister is also a highlight of the read for me and, again, written so naturally and authentically.
While this story is packed full of romantic moments, it also has it’s drama. When we meet David’s assistant, Sabrina, things get really interesting. Her involvement in the couple’s relationship is complex, infuriating and so addictive to read. If you like some meddling in your love stories, this a must read!
Overall, The Nearness of You is a beautifully romantic read. I fell in love with the characters and their stories, as well as the incredible locations we visited. Another wonderful element of this read is the inclusion of music. I strongly recommend checking out the playlist at the back of the book; it opened my ears up to lots of new music! This book has got me hooked onto music-romances and I can’t wait to find my next one!

OMG this book! I love so so many parts of it! I don’t want to put it down and you know…work, sleep etc. So that being said I finished this quickly since I put my life on hold. Ha ha. Just kidding….ummm not really. Well I picked this up because I’ve read other books by this author and I love them. She does an amazing job of making me feel connected to these characters.
David Randall——first off he’s British! Oh and a male model. So you know he’s a looker and a heart stopper. I loved David! He did all the right things and made all the right moves. He was gentlemanly and very concerned for Lauren’s feelings….which I could *feel* coming off the pages! I could easily tell when he was happy just being with her. It made me smile as well. I enjoyed how David looked as his sister and her new husband. I could feel their happiness and love as well as Davids joy while looking at them.
Lauren is amazing in her own right! She is a singer…I mean how sexy is that! I loved how they incorporated music and her singing into their lives. I had never heard “The Nearness of You” by Norah Jones before but I have heard it now. I also enjoyed the tie in to Fly me to the Moon….very romantic! Anyway Lauren has that vintage style going for her and her crooner voice. She did not have a easy go…being the “girlfriend” of supermodel David but she toughed it out and toughened up a bit. Go Lauren!
One of my fav scenes was Lauren and David go to a local restaurant…..
Sally at the restaurant cracked me up! I’m pretty sure she would be me when hearing a British accent.
“ did you hear that? He said pi-con. Not Pea-can!”
So I said that over and over in my head….yup! British accent started!
This is a delightful story of two people who meet by luck and see if they can make a go despite all the obstacles. This made me laugh, chuckle and care about these characters. I already mentioned how lovely the writing style is. The story flows very nicely as well. I highly recommend and this book will be placed on my Re-read list.
“What more can I give to you? Whatever you want. I’ll even fly you to the moon if you should ask…”
She smiled looking up into his face, the last beautiful colors of the sunset illuminating her radiant expression. “I only ask for one thing.”
“What is it my love?”
“The nearness of you… always.”
Be still my heart… Ugh this book ripped me apart, in all the right ways. I really shouldn’t be surprised by now with K.G. Fletcher, she blows me out of the water every time with her novels. I must confess though, this one has to be my absolute favorite of hers. I think the playlist (included in the back of the novel) playing on repeat while I devoured this was just the icing on the cake for me. I would highly recommend that you play it to enhance your experience. I had a feeling I would love this when I found out it was loosely based off of one of Fletcher’s cabaret pieces but my word I had no idea just how much. If I could rate this more stars I would. It is definitely in my top ten reads of 2018!
Lauren Rose, I just loved her. She is an old soul, a lot like myself, and I could really connect with her. She is a lounge singer and has a passion for music. She wants to make it big but for now has been happy living her life in Atlanta. Everything is about to change when she meets the very handsome David Randle.
David pretty much has it all, and a bag of chips. Yup, I can’t really say much negative about this man. He is a British super-model, and a sweetheart. I’ll take three please… He had no idea what he was getting himself into when he started to fall for the girl with the dreamy voice performing at his sister’s wedding. These two are perfect together and the magic brings the music to life right off the screen of your kindle. I couldn’t put it down.
Don’t’ worry though, things are so fairytale perfect. K.G. keeps you on your toes! Things get really interesting when we meet David’s assistant Sabrina Watson. This will story will be a world wind, steamy, intriguing, and heartwarming read you won’t want to put down till you finish it in one sitting. I personally can’t wait to go back and read it again. Thanks so much for another great read K.G. Fletcher!

The story The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher is an amazingly wonderful book that I absolutely loved reading. It is one of those stories that is heartwarming and makes you believe in romance. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters of Lauren Rose and David Randle. Lauren is a lounge singer with a good heart. She is someone who is caring and does her job wonderfully. She is surprised and a bit star struck when she meets David. David is a model who is both handsome and famous. He is someone who wonders if he will find the true love that others have. Then he meets Lauren. These two have an instant connection. They find it effortless to speak with each other and their feelings/emotions for each other only grows. David has a career that makes him a public figure. His assistant Sabrina Watson is none too happy with David’s personal life intruding on his business one. How far is she willing to take her icy acceptance of Lauren? Lauren is learning about the whirlwind life that David leads and the intrusions on his personal life. Will she be able to adapt to the new world she has been introduced to? Will their love for each other be the forever that they both are looking and hoping for? Read this book to find out. This is a book that has you feeling your way through with your heart. It is one that had me with a smile on my face. It is well-written and definitely a story I would highly recommend reading.
KG Fletcher does a masterful job, again, of making me lose track of time, and lose sleep, with enjoyment of this latest book. Hands down, this book was fantastic. I love the way it is written, allowing me to dive directly in and experience each step with the characters. The characters are relatable and realistic. The plot has a steady pace and is well developed. I will whole heartedly recommend this to others. And I cannot wait to read it again.
This is one of my favorite books by this author. A story of love and the struggles that life throws at your relationship. I enjoyed how the author’s attention to details made me feel as if I was right there in the room with the characters. Lauren and David are connectable characters as well as lovable. I enjoyed their chemistry and the instant bond they shared. There are a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and I couldn’t wait to see what was next. I highly recommend this book.
This is another fabulous book by K.G. Fletcher! I have just recently found this author and am so glad I did! I love her books!
Lauren Rose’s sultry voice touched David Randle’s soul in a way no one had ever done. His life of all work and no time for a relationship, mainly because he never knew if someone was with him for him or his fame, left him with an emptiness inside. Lauren sparked him to life and he knew she was the one almost instantly. Lauren felt the same, and their chemistry was palpable! My kindle cracked with the heat! However, there were road blocks; travel separations, paparazzi, and a jealous and controlling assistant.
Along with the angst, there was good. David’s sister, Catherine, her fiance, Brian Brady, and Jordan, Lauren’s roomate and friend. They were all the sweetest friends and family and there for each other. There was a HEA but not without some tears shed first. Love love loved this book! I could not put it down once I started! Wish I could add more stars!
What an awesome read! The Nearness of You is A British Celebrity standalone love-at-first-sight romance novel written by K.G. Fletcher. Lauren is an amazing singer with the hopes of making it big in the music world. For now, she sings at a hotel lounge in Atlanta, GA. In walks, David, a British model, who is on break from being a top model in the fashion industry. When David walks in to the lounge and discovers Lauren it was definite love at first sight. These two have an amazing chemistry and will have you sizzling! Will these two make it in the public eye? You’ll have to read to find out! The characters in this book are wonderful. They all mesh really well together. Not to mention that this story is easy to read and isn’t something that you want to put down! I have not read this author before, but I am now excited to see what else she has and future books to come!
Romantics of the world, unite, for this is a perfect book for you! K. G. Fletcher has given us a story that mixes the beautiful with the mundane, and shows that there is more to the launch of a line than fragrance bottles and the right idea. With compelling characters and a plot that keeps you on your toes, “The Nearness of You” is a phenomenal read from start to finish. I also encourage you to be prepared to be transported to the heart of Atlanta, GA as you cheer on the protagonists. Never have I seen such attention to the detail of the city, and being from Georgia, it warms my heart to see it in the spotlight.
The Nearness of You: A British celebrity standalone, love-at-first-sight romance is a feel-good romance by K.G Fletcher.
David falls for Lauren Rose the minute he sees her and hears her beautiful singing voice.
Lauren Rose is a teacher by day and a lounge singer by night, a million miles away from David’s supermodel lifestyle.
This is my first time reading anything by this author, and I absolutely loved it. The characters sparkled, they were so endearing and the chemistry between them brought this story to life. It had all of my favourite things, and just enough drama to keep me turning the pages.
I would definitely recommend this story.
The Nearness of You: A British celebrity, standalone love-at-first-sight romance by KG Fletcher was an amazing read! This is my first read by this author and I will be coming back for more.
Sweet Lauren meets world famous supermodel David and they are carried away into a whirlwind romance that is swoon worthy. It is not without its complications, however. Can their connection withstand these complications? Read on to find out.
Fletcher developed wonderful characters and gave us the story we all wish could be ours! This dreamy story will keep you turning the page!
This book was AMAZING!!! Swept away in the love story and songs of David and Lauren from beginning to end. The romance, bonds formed – and broken -, the steamy scenes and the ones where Lauren got Sabrina straight (those were my favorite!!)…YES MA’AM. This one was everything and I can’t wait for the next masterpiece!!
I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved this sweet romance! The characters were captivating and dynamic, and their relationship was full of chemistry and tension. It was easy to keep turning the pages because I fell in love with the characters. The writing flows so well and the story was evenly paced, although I found the ending a bit rushed. I also loved the way music and songs were featured in the story, as a lover of old jazz standards. Lovely read.
A guy walks into a bar… sounds cliché, but this book never once made me feel like I was reading the cliché love story. Lauren Rose sings classical jazz in a local hotel lounge. During one of her weekend shows she has the good fortune of meeting British model David Randle. It is safe to say she is a bit star struck. He looked good on the billboard in those campaign ads for underwear, but he looks even better in person. He is in town for his sister nuptials that will be taking place over the weekend. David is in need of a break from the fast paced life his modeling career has brought him. Having been so caught up in modeling, then focusing on launching his cologne line, he was not expecting to be thrown for a loop by this sultry jazz singer. When he jetted off to NY for the photo shoot on his cologne campaign he invited Lauren along as his girlfriend. Sabrina, David’s personal assistant, is not too happy to have her there. She feels as if Lauren is a major distraction and ruining the pictures. Didn’t you know that male models are supposed to be brooding all the time instead of smiling? Will they be able to maintain a strong relationship when thw odds are stacked against them?
The Nearness of You is a wonderful romantic read. It’s easy to read with an amazing happy ever after. The characters are life like and relatable. To me, this novel is a little bit on the whimsical side because face it, no one is going to meet a celebrity in life. But that is what makes this novel very entertaining to read.
As a first time reader of K.G. Fletcher, I am happy that The Nearness of You was the book I read. This book is a bewitching romance story between David Randle, a British supermodel on holiday to attend his sister’s wedding, and Lauren Rose, a lounge singer with dreams of making it big. Add in a dastardly assistant with not-so-nice intentions for some great angst, some great locations, and meddling family and you have yourself a fairy tale with a modern twist. Ms. Fletcher does a wonderful job of keeping the reader entertained and engaged throughout the book. The off-the-charts chemistry between David and Lauren, the wholesomeness and down-to-earth personalities, and fun-loving sub-characters makes the story a very enjoyable read. A wonderful touch that Ms. Fletcher adds, is a playlist of music for the story (which can be found in the back of the book). This very much enhanced the story taking it from merely romantic to whimsical and enchanting. The music also lends a lyrical quality to the story that helps the story flow seamlessly. If you are looking for a book that is TRUE ROMANCE then this is the one you should definitely pick up. Ms. Fletcher has gained another fan of her books and I am looking forward to diving into her other tales!
Lauren Rose is a lounge singer by night and a teacher of theatre students by day, she is a woman with a beautiful voice and a personality to match, she sings in the lounge of the St Regis hotel with her friend Miles on the baby grand and has people who regularly go to hear her and she sings the song that they request and it always turns her mood to the positive and this friday night is no different, that is until she bumps into David Randle on the way back from the bathroom and becomes completely star struck, after all, he is a male model and has the most gorgeous face she has ever seen, as they have a drink during Lauren’s break, she manages to form words and converse with him, but still remains utterly star struck until her break is over and she and Miles head back to the stage for the end of their set for the night, including the request from her regular and a special song for David. Afterwards, he asks if he can but her a proper drink and she agrees, they end up drinking and talking into the early hours of the morning about everything, including why he is in Atlanta in the first place and when he asks to see her again for breakfast, she cannot believe her luck and agrees to meet him.
That night, she cannot sleep from thinking about the night and the breakfast date to come, so she gives up and gets some coffee on the go, picking out an outfit, she gets ready and is at the hotel a few minutes earlier than planned, this impresses David and they walk to a local diner which serves the breakfast that David wants to try, it is a lot different to where he normally goes, but is more than happy to give it a try. Like the night before, the conversation flows and they talk more about their travels, plus more about his family and his sisters wedding and as they walk back to the hotel and she feels like their time together is coming to an end, he surprises her by asking for a kiss and wanting to see her again.
This is a continuing theme when he asks her to attend his sister’s wedding and be his date and as they spend more time together and Lauren meets his sister and her now husband, they all get on like a house on fire and when David’s sister asks her to sing a song for her with the wedding band, she agrees, this is when she really shows off her voice and gets an offer for a job from the band leader at the same time. As the rest of the evening passes and they talk more in David’s hotel suite, including about the upcoming campaign and release of his own cologne, Drive, they can’t keep their hands off each other and they feel like they are meant for each other, but when a trip to New York to see David at work happens, his assistant starts to become a problem and tries to keep them apart, so when things go wrong and it is a choice between their happiness and David’s career, it is a decision neither of them want to make, but have to.
This is a whirlwind romance with a dash of celebrity while also talking about the differences between fame and obscurity, but will this tear the two apart or make them stronger? The only way to find out is to read the book.
The Nearness of You by KG Fletcher was such a great read! I loved the story and the characters so much. The chemistry between Lauren and David just jumped out of the pages at me and I couldn’t put the book down. I have to say, the last several chapters were completely my favorite of the book. So much drama and suspense, I had to hurry through the pages to find out what happened! And it had such a great ending! Fletcher really is a talented writer, for sure. I can’t wait to read more from her!
