A short enjoyable upper. In such a terrible year positive escapism is a great thing and Cora Seton delivers a story that fulfills this desire. She always delivers a good solid book that flows well.
Dan a former Navy SEAL is spending Christmas at his friend’s ranch and checking the area out for a place to start his new business of a special training camp for people who want to be in the military. Sarah is spending Christmas at her friend’s ranch. The ranch happens to be the same ranch that Dan is staying at. Sarah is in the Army and frustrated that no one takes her seriously as a serious military person. Sarah and Dan end up in several competitions to prove themselves to each other. Sarah proves she is a force to reckon with. The more time they spend together the more they like each other. A standalone with an HEA!!!
Great book
I skipped the steamy parts.
I recommend this author. Her stories are easy to read with believable characters and circumstances. I thought this one would showcase a female character that wouldn’t take a secondary role to the hero but it seemed she was a lot of bravado and physical prowess without the backbone I was hoping for.
I have read the whole series. Waiting for the next book to come out. I have enjoyed all the books the next one is better then the next.
One of my favorite authors
Loved this story! The characters were gorgeous!
I guess the best way to discribe this story, at least in conjunction with this series is a step out of time. The story itself was good, although all the competing did leave me uneasy for a solid future together. Placing it in the series with so many consistency errors frustrates me. Where is Storm, Zanes wife of 3 weeks? How can there be any talk of leasing when they don’t own the ranch yet and it’s still so much in the air?
I did like Sarah especially and could identify with her feeling like she had to keep proving herself and never getting recognition for her achievements. Dan had some great ideas for the future and seems to be someone who can make it a success.
A wonderful quick entertaining read!
I’m sorry this 4th book’s story line was boring. This 4th book story line takes away from the common themes of the other 3 books. I feel this 4th book should have been an update of the characters in the other stories.
Rated R. Couldn’t Read It.
This was definitely a fun book. The competitions between Dan and Sarah were hysterical in that they both seemed to have a need to prove something to the other.
Sarah has many issues with always having to prove herself. Being the only daughter in a military family she has broken the rules and joined up too. Much to their dismay and disapproval. She is stymied in her military career since she isn’t allowed to even try for special forces. (Although this rule has changed now.) She’s deciding whether to stay in or leave while on the Christmas leave.
As a Navy SEAL, Dan has always bantered with members of the other branches of the service, but he can’t quite get what’s going on with Sarah. He’s enjoying the competitions but he’s also feeling more. He wants more with Sarah.
Lots of fun, ribbing and revelations as these two come to terms with themselves and their attraction to each other.
The book was one you did not want to put down and knew what was going to happen. Love the books.
Competition
Dan is an ex SEAL looking at starting a new business. Sarah is Reagan’s friend and in the Army & has had to fight against her family of men about being in the military. They think women can’t be strong enough to do Special Forces. But this holiday is a surprise for Dan. He finds a true partner.
Dan is a former Navy SEAL. He wants to start up a survival training camp, where men can learn what it takes to be a SEAL. He goes to vacation at a friends ranch and asks him to invest. The ranch is full of military men and their wives. Sarah is a Army soldier and her and Reagan have been friends forever, Reagan’s husband owns the ranch. Sarah’s family is in all different types of military and are always belittling her. While Sarah tries to figure out if she wants to leave the Army or stay. Dan and Sarah start having competitions to see who’s best. Sara doesn’t want a fling she wants something permanent. Now Dan just has to convince her he does too. Funny. I have never read anyone having sex the way these two did! It was a little hard to imagine but totally sexy. Two competitive people who love to compete against each other and the little bets made.
I’m a huge fan of all Cora Seton books!
