The scary thing about reading a series that you love is always that the next book might not be as good as the previous one. Luckily for me this isn’t the case with this series. I loved the previous two books and I also really loved this one. The two main characters Ava and Chase are super fun. And their story was really fun to read about. Especially since I love country music, so reading about Chase was definitely fun.
The chemistry between Ava and Chase was really good. They met, and they immediately hit it off. Although this book seemed to have a little less hot and steamy scenes as the previous two books, there was still plenty of hot and steamy scenes to love. Sure, things seemed a little to perfect at times and I think it’s impressive how much things they can do in one 24 hour day, but I really enjoyed reading this one.
Just as with the previous two books I loved the romance in this book, but the moments between the four friends where just as good and I can’t wait to read the story of the ‘last’ single friend Fredi.
The Girls Weekend Away series is definitely a very fun read.
When Ava’s boss can’t use his tickets to the Country Music Association (CMA) Fest, he offers them to her, along with his luxury suite at a fancy hotel. Ava jumps at the chance to invite her three best friends–Fredi, Celia and Bonnie– to join her in Nashville for a weekend of country music, bar hopping on Broadway, good food and good times. They start their long weekend with line dancing at Wildhorse Corral, where Ava, in her new sparkly red cowboy boots, struggles to learn the dance steps. A man behind her mis-stepped and she landed, with her friends, heaped in a pile on the floor. He helped them all up off the floor, but felt an instant attraction to “Sparkly Boots” — the nickname he had given Ava. Looking at her, he felt like his breath had been knocked out of him. It was a feeling he hadn’t experienced in a long time. Ava and her friends just stared at him because he was “drop-dead gorgeous.’
When they introduced themselves, Ava discovered the man–Chase Hudson–was the person Ava was supposed to meet to pick up the CMA tickets for her friends.
As they sat down on one of the bar stools, Ava discovered something else about the man. A swarm of women surrounded him and asked for his autograph. Realizing he must be famous, she does a quick search on her phone while he signs autographs. Turns out that he was more than just gorgeous. He was also an up and coming country music star. She discovered that although he was single, he had a bit of a bad boy reputation. She thought about the fact that many musicians cheated–and he was obviously at the Wildhorse with another woman. Besides, he lived in Nashville and she lived in another city. So, despite her attraction to him, she decided that he wasn’t relationship material — it would never work out. So she thanked him for the tickets and left to join her friends on the dance floor.
Chase was disappointed — he thought that she seemed interested in him, but perhaps she didn’t like country music? At the same time, he was intrigued. Women didn’t usually walk away from him when they realized who he was. When he discovers that one of his friends is having a dance tomorrow night, he decides to invite Ava and her friends. He wasn’t about to give up on her yet; she just needed to experience some of his southern country boy charm!
Does Ava accept Chase’s invitation to the dance? Do they act on their attraction to each other? Does it lead to something more than just attraction? I guess you’ll just need to read the book to find out!
I enjoyed reading this book. It’s the second one that I’ve read by Shana Gray. She has a series of four books, each one highlighting one of the four friends and how each one discovers love. All are set in different cities. It’s fun to get acquainted with each of the four women and learn about their unique personalities. The stories draw you in–you feel like you’re one of the group as you experience the up’s and down’s of each woman’s new relationship.
I’ll definitely be reading more of Gray’s books!
The Nashville Bet by Shana Gray a five-star read you would be willing to lose the house on. This is the third novel in the Girls weekend away books, but they can be read as stand-alone, they each tell the story of a different friend. This time it’s the turn of numerical wonder Ava Trent, and there were so many thrilling moments in this read. I loved the mentions to the music, I didn’t think I was a huge fan of country music, but the more I read the more I was like oohhh I love that band/singer, and that song is one of my favourites, I clearly like it more than I realised and I was so glad that this read brought that out of me, making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and then there were the characters they just made me much warmer. This author is fast becoming one for me to watch and I can’t wait for the next instalment in the series, bring on Monaco.
This was so much fun. Traveling with Ava and Chase through their ups and downs, and ins and outs, was worth all my time :-).
The supporting characters were a wonderful compliment to the storyline and added the color needed without overwhelming the storyline.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book m, I think you will as well.
I have been waiting on this book with bated breath and it did not disappoint. Shana Gray has made this such a fun and outgoing series. The girlfriend bonding and chatter is hilarity personified. Ava, lovingly called “Boots” by Chase is the dreamy, rainbows and butterflies girl of the group. She meets Chase, a country music star who becomes her prince, by literally falling at his feet. From that moment they are inseparable. The girlfriends intervene to ensure that nothing prevents Ava from getting her happy ending and the it becomes a rollicking good time from start to finish. Only one friend is left single, Fredie, and I know her story will be epic.
