FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she’s dreaded for years, the one that tells her the Poet has surfaced. She has never forgotten the serial killer who wove lines of poetry in his hideous crimes–and apparently he has not forgotten her.Former LAPD detective Harry Bosch gets a call, too–from the widow of an old friend. Her husband’s death seems natural, but his ties to the hunt for … the hunt for the Poet make Bosch dig deep. Now the two are at odds with the FBI…and squarely in the path of the Poet, who will lead them on a wicked ride out of the heat, through the narrows of evil, and into a darkness all his own…

The Poet is back, and he is calling out FBI agent Rachel Walling. Meanwhile, retired LAPD detective Harry Bosch has been asked to investigate the death of a friend by his widow. Everyone …
Not one of Connelly’s better outings. I sometimes feel every other book of his is great, then it sinks. The point of view issue was glaring here– he tried to recreate what he had done in The Poet and while he got away with it in the first book, it didn’t fly here. The mixture of first person and third person in the same scene is jarring. Still, a …
Harry Bosch gets a phone call from the window of an old friend. Her call starts Bosch investigating her husbands death, a death that up until now had seemed normal. Bosch ends up joining forces with FBI agent Rachel Walling in an investigation of the Poet. From there the real evil begins.
There is no end to learning why this book is entitled “The Narrows”, and finally, the reason is revealed when in the heart of the story, a river runs through it. Don’t miss this Connelly masterpiece.
Connelly is simply the best!
Kept my interest through out. Looking forward to the next one.
I love everything Michael Connelly have written.
This is part of a series, and it’s the only one I have read. It stands alone quite well.
Lots of action, and it wasn’t until the end that the reason for the title became clear.
Another great book for a truly awesome author
Another great Harry Bosch tale.
Adore Connelly
This was a good book keeping the usual Michael Connelly standard of a strong investigative book with a flawed protagonist (I would love for one of his main leads to succeed in a relationship and not have them all crash and burn all the time). This is a followup to the Poet which sets the stage for the actions in this novel but it can be read as a …
Any Bosch book is outstanding … this one is no exception ….
another great book from a really terrific writer. one of my favorites
It was a great mystery!
Couldn’t hardly put it down.
Another great read from Michael Connely. For fans of Harry Bosch a must read.
If you haven’t read any in the series you must go back to the original book “The Black Echo” and start there.
Always enjoy Micheal Connelly. Good sequel. Something he rarely does
Bosch on the road chasing a serial killer alongside an attractive agent. The best of Bosch.
