**Now a USA Today Bestseller!** Lisa Hodges needs to make a decision fast. Thanks to her dead husband’s gambling addiction, their savings is almost gone. In her early fifties with a large, waterfront home on Nantucket to support, Lisa hasn’t worked in over thirty years, has no in-demand skills and is virtually unemployable. Her only options are to sell the house and move off-island, or, she could … and move off-island, or, she could use her cooking and entertaining skills and turn her home into a bed and breakfast. She desperately needs it to succeed because she has four grown children with problems of their own and wants to stay close to them.
Her oldest daughter, Kate, has a fabulous career in Boston–working as a writer for a popular fashion magazine and engaged to a dangerously handsome, photographer, who none of them have met.
Kate’s twin, local artist, Kristen, has been reasonably content with her on-again off-again relationship with an older, separated businessman.
Her son, Chase, runs his own construction business and is carefree, happily dating here and there but nothing serious.
Youngest daughter, Abby, is happily married to her high school sweetheart, and they’ve been trying to have a baby. But it hasn’t happened yet, and Abby wonders if it’s a sign that maybe their marriage isn’t as perfect as everyone thinks.
Come visit Nantucket and see how Lisa’s new bed and breakfast has an impact on almost everyone in her family. It’s the first book in a new series that will follow the Hodges family, friends, and visitors to Nantucket’s Beach Plum Cove Inn.

I enjoyed the books. I liked the fact that there were 3 books in 1 so the main character was familiar. It takes place in England in the late 1920’s. I enjoy reading about the countryside and the activities of people during that time period, as well as the mystery.
Loved it. On book 3 now.
Good story
I enjoyed it. I think you will too
Very light, quick read.
The story of a widowed mom and her 3 daughters and son. It follows them for not quite a year in great detail as the mom rebuilds her life and the daughters go through changes in their lives. The people are very interesting, the place is very interesting. The most romantic it gets are pleasant kisses. There is a lot of detail depth of exactly what people are wearing and eating (almost the recipes).
What a fantastic book and the characters are so relatable.
I listened to this on Chirp. Sweet romantic story of finding new and old loves. Dreamy setting.
The Nantucket Inn is the story of widowed mother, Lisa Hodges, and her four grown children: twins Kate and Kristen, son Chase, and youngest daughter, Abby. Now that Lisa’s husband is gone, she’s struggling to stay afloat in her home on Nantucket Island. Brian, her late husband, made poor choices resulting in financial ruin for Lisa. Her age and skill set are not exactly working in her favor, but since she’s an excellent cook with a home that has unused rooms, she accepts the idea of turning her beloved home into an Inn. In doing so she finds more than just a way to keep her finances in order.
The Nantucket Inn is a clean, fast-moving, simple read. It’s the kind of book that’s uncomplicated and tells a nice, comforting story. Lisa and her female adult children’s lives are the focal point. Since that’s four separate scenarios I at times had to pause a moment to keep everyone straight, but happily it wasn’t difficult. Lisa’s male son didn’t have much space in the book, but I think he occurs more prominently in at least one of the subsequent books.
I enjoyed this book. The length was just right, the audio narrator was pleasant, and overall it was mellow and satisfying.
I was immediately pulled into the lives of the characters in this book. Each one of them had a unique story and I appreciated that they were skillfully interwoven. I also enjoyed watching the older character find friendship and maybe love.
This was a sweet, clean story of a family starting over Mom Lisa opens an Air B n B hoping that it will become a full fledge Bed n Breakfast. Several members of the family are starting over from heartache. I’m looking forward to what comes next for the Hodges family and their friends on the island.
I really enjoy a book that draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you enthralled with the story til the very end, still wanting more.Lisa and her kids each have their own story’s that weave together when Lisa decides to turn her home into a B and B. The way it was described makes me want to visit , the rooms sound lovely.I really enjoyed each if the characters so much that I want to read each book of this series soon just so can revisit them. This is the second book I have read from this Author who was new to me just this month , I already want to read everything she writes.
A fun easy to read. Lisa Hodges needs money fast to overcome the debts her late husband mounted. She comes up with the idea to turn her home into a Bed & Breakfast. With her children mostly on board with the decision, she faces opposition from local neighbors. She decides to rent out rooms through Airbnb. Daughter Kate has her own problems after a breakup and job loss. Daughter Abby has been struggling to have a baby and artist Daughter Kristen is struggling with her personal life too. Son Chase helps Lisa get the house ready to rent rooms.
The books has vivid descriptions of Nantucket food and ways of life. Can’t wait to read the next book In The series
Great book to spend the day with!
I love a story with families and the setting makes it even better. A great read.
When the money gets tight, the tough get going. That’s exactly what this protagonist does when she discovers her savings has been depleted. How exactly does a middle aged widow and mother of four, who hasn’t been in the work force for decades, earn a living? When you happen to own a home on Nantucket, you could always consider becoming an innkeeper. It brought to mind the pleasant experiences I’ve enjoyed at B&Bs around the country and the wonderful hospitality and breakfasts that were served. This is one of the few books I’ve read in which men actually like eating quiche! I think that must be a standard menu item at B&Bs. A delightful read.
