This book is a stand alone book but is part of the Locke Industries Series. It could be read as a stand alone but I recommend you also read the Assistant’s Secret by Emerald O’Brian right after or before you read this book. The stories intertwine and enhance each other. The Nanny’s Secret is one of Keirsten’s best, a mystery thriller with a twisty plot and ending you will never guess. Don’t start this book before bed unless you are not tired because you won’t want to put it down to go to sleep.
Well done, thanks again Keirsten!
I received this ARC from the author and opinions are my own.
Olivia Mendes lands the perfect job as nanny to John Locke, son of Orrick and Iris Locke, owners of Locke Industries, a billion dollar security firm. Olivia has been told NEVER to go into Orrick’s office so of course she is curious. With all the security in this fabulous house, of course she is caught. But Orrick Locke can’t resist Olivia so she gets by with it. However Iris Locke is not so enchanted with Olivia. What is she up to? Iris can’t let her hurt Locke Industries by discovering their secrets. What is the Nanny’s secret? This book is a well-developed mystery with lots of twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it all figured out…Wham! I loved this book! Another great read from Kiersten Modglin. Thanks for letting me read it early. Be sure to read this book along with The Assistant’s Secret by Emerald O’Brien for another view of Locke Industries. They can be read in any order.
Wow! Another excellent title from Kiersten! Her books never disappoint. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of both books in the new Locke Industries series (the other written by Emerald O’Brien, review to come soon), and these opinions are my own.
I think Kiersten is an all-around exceptional writer, but she especially shines at writing the most unlikeable characters for you to root against, while sometimes blinding you to the true colors of the protagonist. I hated Iris. I hated Orrick. That was the point. It wasn’t until very far into the book that I realized the rest of the story might not be as it seemed, and the end really caught me off guard! Another tightly woven, suspenseful tale. I cannot wait for more!
OMG ! What a Story
Be prepared to be caught up in this ‘other’ take on someone’s secret about Locke Industries in this new series. It’s well written with interesting characters and it’s definitely hard to put down. You might think early on that you’ve figured out the ending, but I’ll wager you haven’t. So sit back and enjoy but also brace yourself for a shock as the story comes to an end.

The Nanny’s Secret
So hard to put down. I was captivated right away. I enjoyed how we got a glimpse into the minds of the character’s. I kept trying to guess what would happen next and was always wrong! I kept hoping Mia and Orrick would end up together. I was surprised at the ending and kinda sad. Definitely recommend.
Another impressive book written by Kiersten Modglin! This five plus star read will keep readers in a state of intriguing suspense. One will question the motives for the actions of Iris and Orrick but then turn around and question those of Olivia. The story keeps twisting around and the reader engaged in trying to figure out what happens and why. I’m off the read The Assistant’s Secret, another Locke Industries novel, this one written by Emerald O’Brien.
Whoo okay. So there are a ton of twists. I loved every single one of them! Maybe a couple of them aren’t so twisty but more like curve balls. Ms Kiersten gives you just enough info to fig out what’s going to happen but then she throws a sidewinder and things aren’t what they appear and bam! It’s a grand slam! Gah!!! This is a good book. Well done!
Sorry for all the baseball analogies. I just didn’t know how to describe it without giving away spoilers.
This was a new author for me and it didn’t disappoint had lot’s of twist’s and turn’s just the I like them just when I thought I had it figured out there was another twist….loved it!!
I’m running out of things to say about Kiersten’s amazing writing talent.
Another thrilling, keep you on your toes, can’t figure out what’s happening next book. This is going to be an amazingly twisted, don’t want to put the book down series.
WHAT A BOOK! What a story. Oh my. The Nanny’s Secret by Kiersten Modglin is the second book I have read by her. Wow! I can not get this story out of my head. I’ll tell you, if you like psychological suspense, you will love her books. I can’t put them down once they’re in my hand.
The experience is like being on a rollercoaster. There is the long climb to the top of the tracks with great anticipation and then you hold on for dear life as you hurtle to the bottom. Oh, but it’s so satisfying when you get to the end and you have survived. Your heart might be beating out of your chest and you might be winded from screaming but, it was worth the experience.
I love her plot and character development. Neither of the books were anything alike. I get tired of authors that use the same general outline book after book. I can already tell that Kiersten takes great delight in delivering a unique story everytime!
I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review.
Another quick, fast-paced read by Kiersten Modglin! Olivia Mendes just got a new job as a nanny, and she has a secret. Her employers, the owners of Locke Industries, have big secrets, too. Both are determined to keep their secrets, and some of these are a matter of life and death. Orrick and Iris Locke seem to have an open marriage and closed minds as far as what is right to do with their company. They will do anything to keep their security company safe from scandal…anything! The stage is set for some explosive action and a lot of subterfuge that led me down a garden path, believing one thing and ultimately discovering another. Modglin is a master of laying false clues, so I was expecting them, but I was still surprised several times throughout the course of reading the book. This is a psychological thriller and a family drama that will make you think and keep you enthralled.

Yet again this author proves why she is a powerhouse writer. This story of mystery and intrigue will captivate you from beginning to end. You will love, hate, feel sorry and be shocked by these characters. Olivia comes to work for Iris and Orrick Locke as a Nanny to their young son. She appears to be the perfect person for the job, but is she? This family has so many secrets and when Olivia stumbles onto one so big, how will she deal with it? Orrick and Iris are an interesting couple who will keep you guessing throughout this entire story as to their true nature. And don’t get me started on the ending! Absolutely mind blowing! I’m still in shock! This book is a definite must read and you won’t put it down until you’ve finished the very last word!
This intriguing read kept me totally hooked from the very beginning with the great storyline and characters that were so well created that I was totally engaged until the turn of the very last page!
Author, Kiersten Modglin and Emerald O’Brien (The Assistant’s Secret) have collaborated by each writing a stand alone book about the powerful security company, Locke Industries.
Locke Industries is not only known for their world-class security system, but also for their lesser known keeper of secrets. Secrets that their clients do not want known. Orrick and Iris are the owners of Locke Industries. As their business grows, Iris is going into the office more and a nanny is needed for their nine year old son. Enter Olivia Mendez. Olivia fits well into the household as the nanny and as she becomes more involved with the Locke family, she learns more of their secrets. Secrets that are evil and twisted. But Olivia has secrets of her own.
Deception and revenge kept me turning the pages of this compelling, psychological series. The Assistant’s Secret or The Nanny’s Secret can be read in either order. Just read them for a thrilling, intense ride. I received an ARC of this book from the author. The review and comments are my honest opinion.
Wow! This is a fast paced, entertaining, well-written suspense novel which is filled with mystery, intrigue, twists and turns, and secrets. It is a real page turner that I could not put down until reaching its shocking conclusion. I read this novel immediately after reading and thoroughly enjoying Emerald O’Brien’s amazing “The Assistant’s Secret”. Each book can be read as a stand alone, and in any order. I am looking forward to reading the other entries in this seres with great anticipation.
I received an ARC of this novel and this is my honest review.
Wow! The pages just turn themselves. I thought I’d read a couple chapters before bed, several “one more chapters later” I was 60% through the book! Another great read by Kiersten Modglin! There’s intrigue, suspense and twists, some you may see coming but others you definitely will not! Highly recommended.
A fantastic addition to the series. This is a fast paced and intriguing read. That has lots of twists and turns, I could not put this read down until I finished. It’s has outstanding world building as well as the characters portrayed in the book seem so real as well. It’s like I was watching it play out while reading, I could picture it through my mind’s eye. I definitely recommend it.

Kiersten Modglin has a new winner in THE NANNY’S SECRET. This is another well written and intricate mystery that keeps you turning the pages to find what twist the story takes next. Nanny’s Secret and The Assistant’s Secret by Emerald O’Brien are the first two installments in the Locke Industries series. Each story can be read as stand-alone stories, but their story lines are intertwined and mostly concurrent timelines.
A love story with so many emotional twists, secrets, deceit, lies and revenge, you won’t know who is good or bad.
A powerful woman who thought the company should be hers.
A powerful man that no one can touch
A cold hearted woman, who thrives on power.
A Nanny that can be quite devious on her own and a private agenda to fulfill.
This is a psychological thriller you don’t want to miss and ending you won’t see coming.
I did receive an advance readers copy and am gratefully leaving my honest review and recommend the Locke Industry series.
“They may be powerful people, but they have no idea how powerful I can be.”
Ok. I don’t even know where to start!! This book was one giant, amazing pretzel of betrayal, revenge, deception, and cover-ups!! What an intertwined web was woven in this story!!
So, we have Olivia Mendes, who takes a job as the Locke’s nanny for their 9 year old son. As the story goes on, we learn things about Olivia, and how her life and that of the Locke’s are interwoven. She’s got a plan to get what she wants, but one or more of them may not survive.
Then we have the Locke’s – Orrick and Iris. On the surface they look like the perfect couple. The Ken and Barbie of New Gilford. But below the facade they are just a royal mess! Embroiled in secrets, cover-ups, lies, you name it. It’s one heck of a cocktail of chaos! I’ll admit, I wasn’t a fan of Iris at all. She was just cold and heartless. Orrick kind of tugged at my heartstrings in a weird way. I mean I knew he wasn’t this innocent, unaware, man that just needed a hug, but something about him made me like him. Just a little. At the end of the day, these two are just a wreck.
So by the end of this one…….well, I’m not going to talk about the end, because you just wouldn’t believe me if I told you -not that I would ever put spoilers in my review. Ever. Just let me say, you won’t be ready for it. Bravo, Ms. Modglin, you’ve done it again and filled the plot with so many twists and turns that you kept me guessing what was going to happen. And I did NOT see that ending coming. Again!
What is a secret? Something covert, mysterious and shrouded in danger. We all have them, and some affect no one, but others result in revenge, betrayal, and unthinkable acts. While I was reading “The Nanny’s Secret”, I was curious as to what Olivia was looking for at the Locke residence, and what she was planning to do with the information. Was she looking for someone, documents, or emails/text messages? I sensed secrets in every scene and on every page, and the only problem I had was deciphering the truth from the lies. I felt a tingling at the back of my neck the entire time I was reading and I had a creepy feeling that I should be looking over my shoulder. I was scared for the characters and scared for myself. Kiersten Modglin’s exceptional writing and imagination has given us a chilling tale of power, seduction and pure evil. She is an expert at writing psychological thrillers which are oftentimes disturbing and ominous with, “a dissolving sense of reality.” She definitely kept me guessing and I had a feeling the ending would be one I would never forget. I was right.
