Don’t touch the nanny. It’s one rule I’m most certainly going to break. Since becoming a single father, I have two things that keep me sane–my daughter Lily and playing football for the NFL. But when my meddling sister hires a nanny without my knowledge, I’m not thrilled to come home and find the woman has taken over my house. Our instant attraction is one more complication I don’t need in my … don’t need in my life.
But my daughter loves Amelia, and I will do anything for that tiny munchkin. Even if it means walking around with blue balls most of the time. Why does the nanny have to be so sweet–and drop dead gorgeous? She’s driving me crazy. Never in my life have I wanted a woman more.
I just need to make it through this season. I can do that. Hands free, of course. But then there’s that moment, and I know she’s thinking what I’m thinking and, well, yeah. Screw the rules…

This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
I had mixed emotions about this book. Some moments were really cute while others were predictable and not very enjoyable. We have Brody Evans, NFL quarterback and single father to the cutest 4 year old on the planet named Lily. Brody travels a lot with work so his sister Julia hires a nanny to help take care of Lily. Amelia Renshaw is the perfect fit for this family. Brody’s wife Stella died in a car crash and there’s a lot to her story that I won’t share but this family has been through quite a lot. Lily is heartbroken that her mother is gone and Amelia is helping ease the loss by being there for her. Brody’s heart is closed off from love but yet he’s super attracted to his new nanny. The thing with Brody is he came off quite fickle. One minute he was all in and in the next he was guarded. I understand all that he’s been through but it became quite frustrating to constantly have this back and forth.
One thing I will say is that Brody is an excellent father. Seeing him bonding with Lily was the absolute cutest thing ever. My heart would flutter every time he called her Lily pad or read her stories.
This story was quite fast paced. More so than I would’ve liked if I’m being honest. Brody and Amelia meet and there’s instant attraction/lust. From there it’s a lot of back and forth on Brody’s end that I mentioned previously. Poor Amelia has whiplash from it all and I don’t blame her. Although I will say, Amelia seemed to want a commitment way too early on. She’s has a masters in child psychology so you’d think she would understand all that this family has been through. Moving on won’t come easy or quickly.
While parts of this story were predictable, I still really enjoyed it overall.
This was a DNF for me. I made it to 71% and I just had to put it down. The beginning of the book started out like there should have been at least a chapter before that to introduce you to what was going on. Then Amelia and Brody are ready to jump each other from their first meeting. Fast forward a little, and there is drama all through this story. Brody doesn’t want to love again, his wife cheated on him before she died, and he’s a jerk to Amelia half the time. She’s supposed to be smart, but she lets Brody treat her like crap and decides she’ll “take whatever she can get” from him. Uh no. My point of no return is when her brother shows up, and instead of being honest about what was going on, she lies, and let’s Brody believe it was an ex-boyfriend. What?! She pushes him to be honest with her, but she’s going to lie about her own brother? This one is a no for me, but I would be willing to give this author another read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
This was a light and enjoyable story by, new to me, author Melynda Price. The story flowed well, and I liked the author’s writing style. The characters were well developed, and it was easy to become invested in them and want everything to work out for them.
The story itself was a bit light on, and it was a bit fluffy. Not necessarily a bad thing, sometimes you just want fluffy with minimal angst. This is what this story was, a feel-good, light and happy romp that left you smiling at the end.
Looking at reviews for other works by this author, this book’s lightness in regards to the storyline is a bit of an anomaly, so I will certainly be looking into some of her other works to get a better feel of her as a storyteller.
I enjoyed The Nanny Rules; it was a nice light break between more serious books. If you are looking for a well written and light romance with a few funny moments, and a genuinely warm characters, I’d recommend you give The Nanny Rules a chance.
Leading with sexual tension then building it into something more, The Nanny Rules seems like a superficial nanny/single dad romance at first, but slower gets much deeper. The story follows Amelia, a woman who is overqualified to be a nanny, but takes a temporary job acting as an NFL star’s nanny when she needs to leave home for personal reasons. When she meets the newly widowed Brody, attraction crackles between the two immediately. But Amelia thinks Brody is grieving his wife, and Brody knows that his cheating spouse did irreparable damage to his heart. They fight their attraction until it can no longer be ignored, then Amelia slowly tears down the walls around Brody’s heart.
I’ve read many books by Melynda Price, and while this one is not my favorite, it’s still a solid read. As I began reading the book, it seemed pretty shallow and I was surprised because that has never been the case with her books, It took a while, but the story got much deeper and the relationship richer as these two slowly revealed their pasts to one another. Brody is a great guy but a truly broken one, and it took a strong, patient woman like Amelia to put the pieces back together. The writing in the second half of the book is great, and I was really drawn into the richer story there. Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved Price’s fighter series, so I was excited to read this book and it ultimately did not disappoint. There is definitely potential for more stories in this world, and I look forward to reading them.
This is a sports romance between NFL player brody and his daughter nanny Amelia. Ther is a lot of things that bothered me trough book and was not smooth executed. Brody, I didn’t like much I wouldn’t be with someone like him, and Amelia was also not my favorite person. The story was predictable and I rolled my eyes a few times while reading it. Not the best-written story.

Amelia meets her new employer while dressed in pajamas making breakfast for her charge when returns home early. Startled by the big woman in his house he demands to know who, what, why, and more. This leads to some tension as they learn to get along while taking care of Lily. Problem is that they are attracted to one another making the tension high as they each try to fight it. If course they cave leading to our eventual HEA. A Fun romance that will be a great escape while you’re reading it. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This is a good story. It may be predictable to a certain extent, you will still be entertained. Amelia has a masters in child Psychology but right now she needs a place to decompress. A college friend hires her to be the nanny for her brother. Brody lost his wife in a tragic accident. The story was scandalous and Brody has closed off his heart. When he finds Amelia have dressed in his kitchen, he is less than enthusiastic to find out she is his new nanny. He wants her out. His daughter Lily is already attached and eventually so is Brody. Nice story with some angst and a cute HEA.
2.5+ “Not what I was expecting” Stars
Having read and enjoyed some of Ms. Price’s MMA fighters books, I was more than delighted when I had the chance to snag an ARC copy of The Nanny Rules. I mean, a professional football player/single dad who falls for the live-in nanny? It was like this was meant to be!
Amelia was sweet and caring and could have some funny moments. I just couldn’t understand most of her decisions regarding her past and withholding that information, which led to me wanting to slap some sense into her many, many times.
Brody was mostly dreamy, but my favorite part in this type of story is the Daddy-daughter bond and since huge chunks of time would be skipped over, I didn’t really get to witness this. Also, he had a tendency to overreact that was not attractive, like, at all.
Unfortunately, I wanted to like the book more than I actually did. My main issue was that there was a lot of telling instead of showing, especially in the beginning. This made it difficult for me to really connect with the characters and make me feel their chemistry. Also, most of the obstacles they had to overcome felt completely forced.
The Nanny Rules was overall a sweet romance with a great premise but it was more of a miss then for me. I did enjoy some parts of it and I can’t say I didn’t like it in a general way, I was just expecting it to totally wow me.

This was a good, easy, erotic, romantice read; perfect for a day at the beach, but nothing spectacular. The plot was almost nonexistent, other than the two main characters having the hots for one another.
Brody is a cold and distant person, pretty much with everyone (except for Lilly), and seems to be especially standoffish with Amelia. Okay, so he is supposedly trying to refrain from getting close to her, but he doesn’t end up trying very hard. Although, granted, she isn’t the typical nanny. Besides her advanced education, and not being as young as one would expect, and she also happens to be a friend of Brody’s sister, which basically puts her in a whole other relationship category.
Amelia is a total anomaly. She supposedly has a Masters in Child Psychology, but she mostly acts like a child herself, or at least a petulant teenager. And here she is with an advanced degree, but working as a nanny? I mean, I know she was supposedly waiting for the right permanent job to come along, but this is nearly as bad as her flipping burgers. She claims to be able and willing to take whatever Brody has to offer, even if it is just sex, but she pretty much instantly falls in love with him, and then starts making demands that obviously put a strain on their relationship.
Basically, the two created most of the drama between themselves by not being honest with one another. Honestly, it’s mostly just annoying and also somewhat tiring. “Emotional whiplash” is mentioned in the book, and there is definitely a lot of that, with how the two push and pull, fighting their relationship and each other, pretty much at every turn.
The story-telling itself is fairly decent and at least mildly entertaining. There is way too much reference to how Brody and Amelia are physically attracted to one another, from hard-ons to excessively pebbled nipples. It was just a bit much at times; okay, most of the time. There’s also an over abundance of telling, rather than showing, that occurs in the narrative; along with a lot of topics or situations that are just dropped and never surface again or not until much later. And there was definitely a lot of happy sappy feel-good prose that was just not in keeping with the tone of most of the rest of the tale.
Despite all the things that bugged me, it was still a nice, light story. The main characters were mostly sympathetic, some of the side characters were rather interesting and quite enjoyable. And the sex scenes were definitely hot. As long as your expectations aren’t too high, it is good for a quick, fun read!
This was a pretty simple story. It was mostly predictable, but that’s okay sometimes because a good story doesn’t always have to be really unique and different, sometimes it is nice to read what you’re comfortable with. It had its steamy moments between Brody and Amelia, and its sweet moments with little Lily as well. It had all the drama of back stories that made their reasons for fighting the relationship make sense. Now, I feel like some of the back stories could have been given more details earlier on in the story, without knowing some of the details it made it irritating at first when they would push each other away for what seemed like no good reason. In the end it all tied up into a nice HEA, and I loved the little family the three of them created together.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I don’t normally read nanny stories as the first ones that I did seemed trite. This one was a wonderful story. I so got into this one. The story was so well done that it almost seemed like a movie was being played out in my mind. As much as I loved Amelia and Brody and their journey to their HEA, I really fell for his daughter, Lily. He called her Lily Pad. How adorable!
Amelia is running from her past. Her family were drug addicts and they lived on the questionable side of town. She feels people still look down on her as they did when she was growing up so she doesn’t tell Brody anything of her past. Her best friend in college is Julia, Brody’s sister. Julia hires Amelia to be Lily’s nanny while Brody is out of town. Brody doesn’t want a nanny. His wife betrayed him with a teammate of his and she was killed while in the car with him. Both have trust issues. Miscommunication is key here as well as their trust. Amelia thinks Brody will look down on her due to her family history. Brody is so afraid of getting hurt again.
This book was written in my favorite dual POV format. It really helped me to identify with both characters. I could so easily see where each character was coming from with getting that inside look into their thoughts. It is so easy to misunderstand someone’s action but not their thoughts.
I highly recommend this story for someone over the age of 18.
A cute romance!
I liked Brody, Amelia, and Lily (Brody’s daughter)–they’re likable characters whom it’s easy to root for. Brody and Amelia have great chemistry, and it was entertaining to see them grow closer as they watched Survivor together. 😉
Amelia’s reaction when her past discovers her new life was more than a little baffling, though–earlier misunderstandings made a lot more sense (talking about deceased spouses is awkward at the best of times, add in a guy who doesn’t like to discuss his personal life and of course your conversations are going to have giant gaps) these omissions started to feel more manufactured than organic. Still, the grand gesture and resolution were beyond adorable, leaving me with a happy smile on my face.
So, all’s well that ends well. Plus, the smexy scenes are hot–win-win!
Rating: 4 stars / B+

This is a sweet love story with a little bit of spice mixed in about two people who are scarred, but their love ultimately heals each of their past hurts. His televised proposal was the sweetest I’ve read in quite a while, too! I enjoyed this book very much! I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher for my enjoyment
Who doesn’t love a single-dad finds love again romance?? I know I sure do! And The Nanny Rules is all that and so much more!
I enjoyed the dynamic between Brody and Amelia from their meet-cute through their entire relationship. Though predictable at times, Brody and Amelia managed to forge a relationship—even though Brody vehemently denied wanting one! Amelia’s quiet strength and easy-going nature is definitely what kept them together—especially with their communication issues! Lordy there were some communication issues.
My favorite part of The Nanny Rules is Lily, Brody’s daughter. The little scene stealer is an adorable, sassy, fun little character who has her daddy wrapped right around her finger!
I was really excited to read this book. The nanny-single father trope is one of my favorites and I was so glad that I got an early copy from the publisher!
Amelia and Brody’s first encounter is nothing but memorable, he found her braless wearing turtle-patterned shorts :’). As a recently widowed single father to a little girl and an NFL quarterback, Brody is trying to balance his life as best as possible. Even though he didn’t like Amelia at first, he can’t deny their growing attraction.
Amelia has some secrets of her own. Because of a situation with her brother, she really needs this job and feeling attracted to her boss is not the best thing. Neither of them can deny their feelings. Amelia is the one to fight it more, because she’s afraid of getting attached and inevitably hurt.
It was really interesting to see these two working through their issues, realizing their feelings and finally coming together!!
4.5 Stars for The Nanny Rules
Melynda Price is a new author to me and I really don’t t understand why I haven’t come across her before now and I will certainly be checking out other works by her.
Brody has lost his wife and he is doing the best he can and trying to be a good parent but with his busy game schedule it’s hard to always be there when his daughter needs him but he refuses to admit he needs help and it’s only when his sister steps in and hires a nanny does he realise this is what is needed for his daughter and him. Mia is not only good with his daughter she is also stunning but Brody really doesn’t want help and he certainly doesn’t want a distraction but he just can’t fire her …
This is a very emotional read, it will tug on your heartstrings and it will touch you on so many levels, I loved watching Brody and Mia slowly open up to each and I was captivated from the first page to the last line. This is a classic example of Love will always find a way !!!!!
The Nanny Rules was my first book by Melynda Price. This book drew me in from the first page. The quick chemistry to Amelia and Brody was hot. Lily was the cutest kid ever (I miss her already) and the story was sweet.
This is a mix of insta-love, single dad, sports, and falling-in-love-with-my-boss with some red hot scenes that will make you need a fan. Highly recommend for a light read.
The Nanny Rules by new to me author Melynda Price, is hot read with a lot of heart. The two main characters have amazing chemistry and the author does a great job of creating longing and desire.
Amelia Renshaw recently graduated college with a master’s degree in child psychology. She was hired to nanny four-year-old Lily, the daughter of NFL quarterback Brody Evans. Brody is a single dad and he and Lily have a wonderful relationship. His work schedule is quite demanding, so employing a nanny was a necessity. Amelia was hired by Brody’s sister, while Brody was out of town. So needless to say, he was more than surprised to see a stranger in his kitchen that looked like Miss America, since he was expecting a Mrs. Doubtfire type. Amelia and Brody share an immediate attraction, and over time they fall into lust and love.
This story is nicely written and the characters are well-defined. I formed an immediate connection with both Amelia and Brody, and their sexy times are very steamy. Brody’s hatred toward the press and Amelia’s need to start a new life is quite compelling. Lily is beyond cute, and I loved the way the author created the new family dynamic. Overall, this is an entertaining novel that should be added to your TBR list.
Complimentary copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley.
Nope, nope, nope and nope. So much nope here.
Plot overview: Too-perfect-to-be-real Amelia is NFL player Brody’s new nanny. They have sex a lot. That’s about it.
This books starts right out with Brody finding Amelia half naked in his kitchen. He had no idea that his sister hired Amelia to look after his daughter, Lilly. And what new live-in employee doesn’t wander around her employer’s house in her underwear? (The answer is no one. No one does this. It’s just a plot contrivance to set up sexual attraction between Amelia and Brody)
At 5% of the story I’m already getting sick of reading about the “pebbled nipples” and hard-ons and clenching vaginas. Enough already! I get it. They’re attracted to each other. Never mind that they haven’t had so much as one grown-up conversation with each other, they’re ready to jump each other at first sight. Understood. Can we move on to the plot now?
The problem is that there isn’t any plot. Brody’s doing the whole “I can never love again” dance because his wife cheated on him before she died. Amelia doesn’t let anyone in emotionally because REASONS that involve a bad childhood that is only hinted at and never fully explored. But these romance novel cliches don’t equal an actual plot, so other than a bunch of sex and “this can’t be more” discussions, there isn’t much else going on here.
Then there was this randomness that irked me:
1. There’s a little drama with the guy Brody’s wife was cheating with, then there’s a little drama with a guy Amelia meets at the park, then there’s a little drama with Brody’s physical therapist…and none of it happens for any apparent reason. None of these things move the plot along in any way or do anything to further the romance between Amelia and Brody. I HATE drama for the sake of drama, and this book was FULL OF IT.
2. At one point, Brody is being an ass to Amelia. She rationalizes that the more he pushes her away and treats her like crap, the more he cares. Um…no, honey. That’s not how it works. He’s not being a dick because he cares. He’s being a dick because he’s a dick.
3. Amelia fell for Brody REALLY fast. I don’t know how much talking they were doing while watching Survivor together, but other than that, they’re barely together long enough to know anything of substance about the other person, let alone fall for them. It was pretty instalove-y.
4. Amelia certainly didn’t have a problem with sleeping with her boss. It didn’t even rate as a moral issue for her. That seemed odd to me. She’s having sex with a guy who pays her, and it never even really occurs to her that sleeping with him might not be the best idea she’s ever had. I questioned her intelligence at this point.
Long-story-short, I thought Brody was a dick, Amelia was an idiot and a doormat, and there wasn’t much of anything going on plot wise throughout the entire book. It’s basically just a bunch of random events linked together by sex scenes. I won’t be continuing on with the series.

What a fun and sensuous love story! Without his knowledge, Brody Evans’ sister hires a nanny for his young daughter. He arrives home from an away football game and Amelia Renshaw is in his home. As a pro-athlete, he is at first wary of her…and she is hot! Amelia has a master’s degree in Child Psychology and knowing that this is a temporary job, is waiting for the right opening at a university or health clinic. In the meantime, she falls in love with Lily (who is adorable) and begins to know and have feelings for Brody. Brody is still dealing with the issues surrounding the death of his wife and his career demands that he travels. Amelia (or as Lily calls her Mia) is also dealing with a past harmful home situation and was determined to achieve her educational goals. Wonderful characters, humor, sizzling love…everything you want in a beautiful romance. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
