This book is beautiful. From the cover, to character development, to the wonderful use of language, it had me captivated. A stunning new take on Faery Fantasy. The world is vibrant in detail and from page one I felt myself escape into this magical world unlike any I’ve ever read before. A must for any fantasy lover, but a truly desirable addition to the Fae enthusiasts and collectors.
I received this book free and can’t wait to read everything the author puts forth into this fantasy world!
Absolutely Amazing!
I read this book in one sitting because it was impossible to keep it down. The characters are great! The world-building is fantabulous! The plot is gripping and incredible! What more could one ask for?
The story is mainly about Kelty, a faerie and Nora, a girl with the gift of sight.
Kelty is the heir of the Night Court, but she was banished and was forced to live amongst the humans. She hopes to return to the faerie world soon, and she also maintains a distance from the humans because contact with them is said to drain faerie magic.
But what happens if a human sees through magic?
Nora possesses the gift of sight after she was forced to drink a strange substance by school bullies.
So that is one complication. Brace yourself! It gets tenser and complicated, but trust me that makes it better.
Hmm. So let’s just say the faerie who banished Kelty shows up…What would happen? Don’t worry, I’m not giving you guys spoilers!
This new problem makes Kelty and Nora team up. Reluctantly, I must add.
So that was a brief glimpse…
Allison has beautifully combined fairies with suspense and mystery. I am in love with the duo Kelt and Nora make and I have a feeling you guys will as well.
I received an ARC for this novel from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review
This is an unusual YA series about Nola a somewhat lonely human girl and Kelty a Faerie who was tricked and ended up banished to the Human realm. Nola was previously forced to drink a strange grey substance by her fathers intern and as this book begins she’s started to realise that things will never be the same for her again. Kelty neither trusts nor likes the Humans but cannot deny that Nola is persistent in trying to get her help. When an old enemy appears in the wood where Kelty now lives she quickly realises that perhaps she should work with Nola after all !
I really liked the story here and the Faeries introduced are very intriguing. The author keeps her readers guessing about their motives and even as this ended there was still a huge question to be answered . Alas as much as I enjoyed the story and the central characters I just didn’t feel the humans around Nola were made to feel real or even that interesting which sadly detracted my interest somewhat . I can only hope that the sequel will showcase motives and enable readers to truly be fully engaged with all the protagonists.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This is a great book! Allison has written a story that young and old alike can enjoy and relate to. It mixes fantasy and human life together in a wonderful blend that keeps the reader turning the pages to see what happens next.
I would suggest however that you pick up her book Outcast to get the story of how Kelty ended up on Earth. Otherwise you’ll always wonder how she came to be here.
I am looking forward to continuing this story in the next book and I hope you will join me in this undertaking. You won’t regret it.
Read this in one sitting! A YA romp that pulls you in and makes you think that there is a reason for the bad things that happen in your life. Cannot wait to read the next book!
