Discover #1 New York Times-bestselling Patrick Rothfuss’ epic fantasy series, The Kingkiller Chronicle. “I just love the world of Patrick Rothfuss.” —Lin-Manuel Miranda • “He’s bloody good, this Rothfuss guy.” —George R. R. Martin • “Rothfuss has real talent.” —Terry Brooks OVER 1 MILLION COPIES SOLD! DAY ONE: THE NAME OF THE WIND My name is Kvothe. I have stolen princesses back from sleeping … WIND
My name is Kvothe.
I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age than most people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep.
You may have heard of me.
So begins a tale unequaled in fantasy literature—the story of a hero told in his own voice. It is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man’s search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

This first book in the Kingkiller Chronicles Trilogy will capture your imagination. Wisconsin author Patrick Rothfuss has created an incredibly complex and magical world with wonderful character development. A must read!
Fantastic book. Rothfuss has an unmistakable gift for prose and storytelling. The perfect read for any fantasy fan.
A story that stays with you
Need the last one!
anxiously awaiting book three
Don’t like fantasy? After this you will.
Be very cautious when you first start to read this book because in the very beginning of the book you will meet a hero named Kvote who will cast a spell that only you will read without actually comprehending. The spell makes the book a book of anti-gravity because it is extremely difficult to put down. Is there heart pounding non stop Michael Bay type explosions!!!? No. Is there a huge heart breaking Notebook type romance to be found!!!? No. Don’t get me wrong, there is plenty of excitement, mystery and romance in the book but being able to define it would take away from the magic in how Rothfuss actually tells it. Imagine the greatest story teller interviewing King Arthurs’ Merlin and hearing the details from the famed wizard himself.
Never has a book felt like such a placid river slowly pulling you along under the shade of trees during a beautiful evening as tranquility becomes the only definition of the environment around you. I truly believe when I finish reading this series ill be able to fart a rainbow.

Our hero of Legend has a bit of PTSD like most good soldiers. His best buddy is trying to find a way to revive our hero back to the legendary character he once was. In order to do this, he tricks our hero into retelling his entire life’s story in hopes of our Hero remembering the gloriousness of his youthful days and who he really is. At first you will realize your reading a story that turns into another story and trying to find your footing is a little difficult. Soon you will meet an alchemist and see that you have gained your footing and are starting to walk forward like a young fawn taking its first steps. When our hero enters the city streets you can slow down and rub your aches and pains one last time because as soon as he enters the academy you wont stop running.
At the academy our hero’s story has finally grasped a hold of your no no parts and wont let go. You’ll meet two of the best friends a guy can hope for, the craziest most powerful most unpredictable teacher that doesn’t teach you and the richest jerk of a bad guy that upsets your stomach faster then the time the girl of your dreams stood up to pee. Did I mention there is magic, demons and even a dragon in this book? Rothfuss will tell you about these things in such a way that you will almost believe this is a logical explanation to an exaggeration of something that might have lead us into the fantasy belief in the first place.
If this book isn’t in your top 5, read it again, its just that damn good.
If you want a book that is really well written, I mean really well written, and a story that is so engaging that it makes you happy for the 900 plus pages? That, along with the knowledge there’s another right after, then this is your book. It was fantastic, and the only disappointment I have is waiting for the 3rd.
Patrick Rothfuss is your unconventional author who likes to break stereotypes and goes against all the common tropes anything he writes is worth reading
Fantastic! One of the best works of fantasy I’ve ever read. The characters are fabulous, well-drawn, interesting, unique and memorable. The writing is excellent and the world-building, superb. It’s a coming-of-age story of a young magician-in-training told from his somewhat mysterious future self. I’ve reread it once and it was at least as good the second time. I look forward to reading it again in a few years. It’s sequel is also great. Get it, read it, savor it. It’s a wonderful way to spend your extra time during this Coronaviras crisis.
His prose is amazing.
This one was easy reading and following. The second book drrrraaagggsss alot
This author hooked us on the story and hasn’t finished the tale in over a decade. Do not read his partial work.
I know a lot of people loved this book, and maybe the hype set me up to be let down — but I was seriously let down.
Characters and events reminded me of Harry Potter, and despite the warnings that Kvothe shouldn’t leave the school he did and wasn’t punished (remind you of someone with the HP initials). It was like he couldn’t get kicked out if he tried. He just skipped off to do his own thing without any regard for others.
I’ll save Rothfuss the trouble and won’t bother reading any more of the series. I’m just not interested.
I really love the two books out in this series. I love them so well, I have come to immensely dislike Patrick Rothfuss. I am extremely tired of waiting for the third blood in the series. It has been years. Shame on him for leaving readers hanging.
I like the story and the epic feel of the reading, I’m looking forward to the third installment
This book takes you on a whirlwind journey into a man’s life. It takes you from his boyhood, through his schooling and into his side adventures. I rooted for the main character all the way through as set backs kept him from attaining his goals. It has excellent world building in it. I could not wait to read the second book.
This is hands down my favorite book. This book will make you laugh, cry, and cringe. It is unique and set in a complex world. It’s a story I never get bored with, because it is so complex and rich in characters. I highly recommend this book, the sequel “Wise Man’s Fear,” and “The Slow Regard of Silent Things.”
I didn’t understand this book at first but I listened to it again and found it interesting stories inside stories. And un finished
This became one of my all time favorite fantasies! The characters are uniquely wonderful. I have waited and waited for the third book in this series! I can only hope that Rothfus will finish it while I’m still around to read it!
Can hardly wait for his next installment. He is my all-time favorite writer!
