Vince was a mustanger with a solitary camp high in the Rusty Hills, where he worked his operation alone. He liked it that way. Then, on a trip back from selling some mustangs, he came across Julie, a saloon girl on the run from some pretty bad hombres. Before he knew it, her fight was his fight, and he was looking forward to a life with her. They just had to fight a small war first.
Wonderful old fashion western. Easy read and kept my attention.
This is the way the real west probably was. A great read.
Great action packed western easy fast read
I loved the book. Excellently written.
Entertaining! I enjoyed it very much.
My mind of story. Not because it was a western but because it belt me in the plot and story.
Historical, fast paced, wanted to more by author.
Enjoyable. Enough action and not too much “mushy romance” even tho’ that theme ran thru the book.
Any author who has to use foul language to tell is story is not worth reading.
Perfect for fans of Zane Grey and his descriptions of the Western landscape.
Three and a half stars. Good enough story to be interesting. If you want true to life, gritty verisimilitude this isn’t the place to find it. Some awfully long rides in not much time, the characters are fun but not anyone I’d ever expect to meet, the language was sometimes hard to get through. That said–I liked the style. Not Louis L’Amour or Elmore Leonard. Not even Elmer Kelton. An interesting new voice. Give iot a look.
Very good western read.
Terrific western romance with realistic details of the era it is written for. I truly enjoyed the romance between the cowboy and the Lady. One of books that I enjoyed fully in western romance. The interaction between the Cowboy and both Indian groups represented here seemed to follow most ideas about the time and followed it pretty well. This was informative, interesting, adventurous, exciting, and kept me riveted to each page until the end. Give this a read, I don’t think you will be let down; as in any western you will find good guys, bad guys, shoot outs and people on the run. Read this, even though it has romance in it the whole book is not just scenes of romance though and can be enjoyed for the western adventure it is.
A good yarn with some well developed characters. I enjoyed the sense of that era in Arizona the author developed.
Great storyline and kept me coming back.
a GOOD READ!
A good Western/Romance story I enjoyed reading
My first reading of a Dusty Ricard’s book and it is a winner! Our mutual friend Velda Brotherton, a gifted writer in her own right, has told of her friendship and admiration for his work of the years. I shouldn’t have been so slow to pick up one of his books. Inventive and delightful book.
Good little cozy but not fine literature.
Just OK. Nothing good or bad.
