Vince was a mustanger with a solitary camp high in the Rusty Hills, where he worked his operation alone. He liked it that way. Then, on a trip back from selling some mustangs, he came across Julie, a saloon girl on the run from some pretty bad hombres. Before he knew it, her fight was his fight, and he was looking forward to a life with her. They just had to fight a small war first.
This is my first Western genre book, and I loved it! Since the movie, Painted Lady, based on this book is coming out in 2018, I guess I picked a winner. Since I live in Arizona, I found it interested because I knew some of the cacti names, and some of the historical settings. I especially liked that it was clean. I’m not a SS teacher, but I just don’t like those explicit scenes; prefer imagination with the author using romantic word choice. OK, now don’t think this is a romance; it definitely is a Western with guns, bad guys, and death. But, we all need love in our lives, even cowboys. My husband read it, too, and we are looking for a good Kindle deal on another one. You won’t be disappointed.
A great read
good example of the traditional western genre. nice view of the trials of the time. unfortunately, some conflation of current values and the actual values of the time.
Good old fashion story line; expected turn of events but well written and interesting.
Enjoyed this book
Rusty is a wonderful Western writer.
A great read about a cowboy with good values and a woman caught in circumstances which led to her loss of values. The story was romantic without resorting to overt sexual behavior, which the author could have easily reverted to, considering the woman’s past. Adventure and danger with a happy ending!!
Good, enjoyable read.
I liked the story line and read the book to the end. But, I found so many abductions a little farfetched. Especially the last one. Who would leave a woman alone when being pursued? Still the characters were interesting enough to keep me reading. I liked the male lead. But, I don’t think considering the time period that he would have been so easy going about her previous sexual experiences. She seemed to overdo bringing past customers into the story. Overall, I enjoyed the story and would read this author again.
An entertaining story of the West. The story had lots of twists and turns with a satisfactory ending.
Average
hard life in the west. fighting off indians and outlaws. Good men are cruelly killed. Only the tough survive and then with injuries and loss.
Loved this book. Didn’t want it to end.
Easy read and entertaining.
Not very realistic. Lots of murder and killing!
enjoyed it easy read
