Interesting murder by sociopath.
Well done historical mystery with lots of red herrings and interesting characters.
Not much of a mystery here…the obvious suspects were too pat–knew tho was a ploy to make me consider someone else—-I was convinced of the identity of the killer from the day all arrived at Sissingham Hall. it was a light summer read
Like Downton Abbey. Interesting reading British. Held my little finger curled turning pages.
I liked it, though it was a bit slow and over dramatic at times.
set in 20’s england, the writer does a great job capturing the style, language and culture of the era. this was an interesting mystery. not horribly hard to figure out but watching the characters come to the right conclusion was interesting. i absolutely recommend this author and this series.
An okay mystery. Too wordy in parts. Interesting to read how the British upper class lives. Figured the murderer out fairly early. It just became a case of how they were going to nail the person.
I thought the story was too slow in developing
A mix of jolly old England and a modern unhappy housewife. Fun characters and interesting twists of plot.
I figured out pretty early, who had committed the murder, but it was so interesting seeing how everyone else was trying to figure out how the murder was done and who did it. Loved the characters and the setting.
Charming story about love, greed and the English countryside.
This is a typical British murder mystery ala PBS. The characters are well developed but a bit shallow. I figured out who the murderer was before I was halfway through the book. The few “red herrings” offered are not convincing enough to keep you guessing. If you’re looking for a who-dun-it that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book does …
Did not finish it – not in the mood.
I enjoyed the book and would read more books by this author.
What an interesting premise. I was so very sad for the young fellow who didn’t realize he was being used as a decoy. The author made it possible to care about the characters.
Not bad, not great. Using another point of view (Charles) from the solver of the mystery (Angela) was an interesting variation on the country house mystery.
Good, solid entertainment.
Decent period piece.
A twist on the dead man in the locked room plot populated by a bunch of British gentry. Interesting plot developments, but the assembled cast seemed shopworn.
Typical light hearted murder mystery
